Hysterectomy and granulation

Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy and granulation

hysterectomy

I just went in a year after my hysterectomy for an odor and the gyn said it was granulation tissue. Is this normal?
HI, The granulation tissue responds well to cauterization and the irregular bleeding should stop soon. Also the oestrogen cream will help with the healing process. Hence you should be all right soon. There should not be any major side effects. Hope this helps.
I had a hysterectomy 2-3 years ago. And i notice slight bleeding after i went to the bathroom. Is this normal?
i had an partial hysterectomy in 2002 and now im spottin what could it be
I had an emergency partial hysterectomy last year removing my uterus and part of my cervix. This past summer I started having some brown spotting. I had a normal pap and normal ultrasound of my ovaries. The bleeding persists and now it is more reddish and more frequent. Moving my bowels and intercourse make it worse. Should I be worried?
HI, Bleeding several years after a hysterectomy can be due to granulation that grows at the site of suturing in the vaginal vault. It can also be due to growths in the vagina like polyps or cancer. Hence an examination with a gynaecologist and Pap smear are necessary to find out the cause of bleeding. The answer is based on information provided. Exact advice is not possible without a proper examination and investigations. You are requested to consult your Doctor. Take care and keep us posted.

Differential diagnosis should include granulation tissue along the posterior vagina, vaginitis, hemorrhoids, and trauma. Lastly, cervical and vaginal cancer. The simplest thing to do is be examined by your gynecologist. The word total hysterectomy would indicate to me that your cervix was removed. You did not use these words. Please have your gynecologist confirm that you cervix was indeed removed. I hope this helps.
Should my doctor be doing more? They are putting something called silver on it and a bandage every 4-5 days and that is it. I am scared, the test came back it is not staph or the new metricl something infection. Thank you for your time. Sincerely Scared.
I have a lot of pain in my sides when trying to get up and down, and my walking is almost a crawl, but that is all easily dealt with. The thing that has me concerned is the discharge that I am still having. I was told to expect somewhat of a bloody discharge so that does not concern me too much. What does concern me is twice today I had a watery/bloody discharge. The first time it was bad, but not too bad.
Had hysterectomy april 26th and bleeding daily till it turned bright red doc said would need to schedule another surgery to re-stitch vagina cuff. Had re-stitch June 7 with yellow discharge doc said was normal and at 5 week appt said all looked ok.. Next day started bleeding bright red & doc gone on vacation. Hi, I'm 49 years old had a Total LAVH 4 years ago, so no uterus and no cervix. Yesterday morning I woke up went to the bathroom and there was bright red blood when I wiped. I also had some cramping. I made sure that it was vaginal before I called my GYNO. He saw me a few hours later and told me he found no blood in the vagina just at the opening and asked me if I'd had sex...not for 4 days, asked me if I had burning or itching...no.
Hi, I had a vaginal hysterectomy removing my uterus, cervix and one ovary.. still have one left. one year ago. I ended up hemorrhaging a week after the hysterectomy.. I actually have stage 2 Cystocele & Rectocele. But we are going to hold off with doing any sort of surgery for right now, going to try some physical therapy. I also have a 1 cm area of Granulation on the vaginal cuff that is going to have to have surgery at some point to repair as its very sensitive and I have had bleeding.
i would like to ask why why im having bloodspotting. i consulted my gyn oncologist and he suspected that its granulation tissue due to my wounds. i undergone a speculum under anestesia and he cotorized tisues. heshowed me the thing he remove from my inside and told me that they didnt have to biopsy it because they were nothing. after this procedure which was months ago, until now im still having daily blood spotting and my doctor says its nothing.
Hi Kelly... I have the same going on and has been since total hyst in 2008. On and off I bleed and have pain. I go to the doctor where they keep finding granulation tissue and sutures at the vaginal cuff coming thru. Every time they are yanked out, within a few days, I feel better and the bleeding stops. Then the cycle begins again. You might want to have your GYN look into that (pardon the pun). I wish you well.
Hi, The most common cause of bleeding after hysterectomy is granulation tissue that develops inside. Other reasons may be polyps or ulcers, infection etc. Pain may be because of inflammation and infection. Hence this warrants an internal examination by a Doctor. Take care and good luck.
Hi, Spotting after hysterectomy can be due to local causes like vaginitis, polyps, granulation tissue etc. Senile vaginitis can result in burning sensation. Also urinary infection needs to be excluded. Consult a gynaecologist for an internal examination. Hope this helps.
had a total hystarectomy 8 years ago now i have sone vaginal bleeding bright red and would like know why?
Why this is noticed now I don't know but usually the diagnosis can be made by taking a small biopsy of the granulation tissue and sending it to be looked at by pathology under the microscope. Granulation tissue does not typically grow on the ovaries. Normal symptoms of ovulation are not consistent after menopause. If you take a basal temperature (first thing in the morning before you get out of bed or go to the bathroom) every morning one typically sees a rise of at least 0.
I bled for 6 months after my TVH (total vag. hysterectomy) everytime Dh and I had sex. Turns out I had ALOT of granulation tissue. I had to have silver nitrate treatments several times and the finally used some super numbing spray (I think they called it Hurricane spray) and clipped away a big piece of granulation tissue. That definately helped. Funny thing is, the last time I bled after sex I bled alot. But I haven't bled since and that was 1.5 yrs ago.
I had a vaginal hysterectomy and bladder repair in 2012. I used estrogen once a month for 1 year. Recently I've had slight spotting of blood. Is this because of the mesh? This happened a few weeks after surgery also, when I was told I it was Granulation. Could it be that again? Does this problem happen often & will it mean more surgery?
hi again, I had a partial hysterectomy 6 weeks ago today and up to last week my recovery was very good. but last friday i had a small bleed after lifting something. it is now tuesday and unless i'm lying down doing nothing i get a small amount of bleeding still. I am due to see my gyne on thurs and i'm wondering if that is soon enough. I am after getting a bit of a fright really, as i have had no bleeding since my operation. Thank you.
I had a vaginal hysterectomy and bladder repair for prolapsed bladder July 20. A Monarc sling was put in place. I wore a catheter for about 10 days. My bladder could not empty very well without the catheter so surgery was done to loosen the sling, I was told it was too tight. That surgery was 10 weeks ago. Twice a week I insert Estrogen Cream as directed. It took a long time to not have discomfort, but I was good about not lifting and limited my walking.
She said the histology had come back and it isnt falopian tube and it was granulation that she removed. She suggested possibly referring me to a bowel dr to get examined to check out the possibility that it could be bowel related. However since then I collapsed at home with the most unbearable pain, I was in and out of consciousness and my husband had to call the paramedics to me and I was rushed to hospital. They did various things - a vaginal scan, xray but all of them showed nothing.
Hi and thank you for this site! I am 53 yrs and I had a total hysterectomy in May of 1994. My problem is I have had spotting of blood since 03/07/11, the only other symptom with it is urine leakage but it's almost as if they are hand in hand. I wear very thin pads and sometimes there is no urine only blood. Once again my only symptoms are urine and blood nothing else.
Divinci hysterectomy May 2011. Intermittent treatment 3 times granulation tissue with silver nitrate. Gyn surgeon each time says healed. Then several months later gush fluid when standing. Small pieces of tissue on occ in toilet. The other day- urinated and 2pieces bright bloody mucous seen floating. In 2012 I had a vaginal hysterectomy & bladder repair done by my OBGYN. I had a sling inserted for my prolapsed bladder. Two weeks later I was back in surgery because it was too tight. A few weeks later I had some spotting of blood due to Granulation & was back in the Dr's office for that. Everything was fine until a week ago, I started spotting again. At my last appointment I was told that some of the mesh is exposed, Is this what is causing my spotting?
I am 43 years old. I had a hysterectomy 1 1/2 years ago. They removed my uterus and one ovary. I had no bleeding after surgery. Then a few months after, I start some light spotting. I thought it might be due to some extra activity, trying to get back to normal, so I ignored it. This happened a few more times around the same time each month, which I found kind of odd, so I made a call to my doctor.
That is the only hormone therapy I'm on. I did have a complete hysterectomy probably 20 years ago and took Premarin for several years, but no longer take it. Yes, he was a urogynecologist. I probably should give him a call. I just hate to go in if it's nothing. It only happens the morning after the application of the medicine.
