Hysterectomy and diarrhea

Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy and diarrhea

hysterectomy

Avatar f tn I also had diarrhea after my hysterectomy and it was awful and lasted a long time (over a year) but my gyn / surgeon refused to see me (even though he'd been my doctor for 20 years). I didn't see another doctor (a gastroenterologist) until about 9 months post-op. I didn't know to take a probiotic... wish I'd done that starting immediately post-op. My bowels have never been normal since surgery.
Avatar f tn 9 days ago i starting having severe diarrhea. I went to family dr 5 days ago. He ran blood and said I have a CRP of 7.4 (was .5, 1 month ago). Had a ct done 3 days ago and they said the only findings was a cyst on my left ovary. My question is, can an ovarian cyst cause this much pain and diarrhea? I have lost 4 lbs ( I only weigh 113 normally). I have a appt with Fam dr tomorrow. Not sure what size the cyst is, but I can feel a lump on my left side.
Avatar f tn He was an awful man that had me in tears making me feel like I was wasting his time and it was all in my head. Even though I had a partial hysterectomy in dec, and a cyst removed from my left ovary and recovered like a champ and was back to work in 2 weeks. And a lengthy family history of every organ issue imaginable.
Avatar n tn I am having the same issue too. I posted today and noticed your post. I can't lose weight and only gaining and gaining fast. I joined kick boxing etc and I am so upset about this. Can it be hormonal?

Avatar m tn It sure sounds like your surgeon was negligent. I developed the opposite problem (severe diarrhea) post-hysterectomy. I lost my libido too as well as my energy and motivation along with many other issues :( The patch did not work well for me. I had a long list of hormone deficiency symptoms, the worst being suicidal depression and fragmented sleep. Maybe the patch is not a good fit for you or isn't a high enough dose. Or maybe you need a different brand patch.
Avatar n tn My symptoms include digestive issues such as extreme gas, stomach distension, chest pain,(usually after meal and upon lying down), upper back pain (feels like lungs), alternating bouts of constipation and diarrhea, and a sudden inability to eat okra, and peas without experiencing extreme stomach pain and diarrhea. The seeds of the okra are present in stool as if they have never been eaten. I have just started experiencing this last symptom within the last 6 months.
Avatar f tn After this I felt worse, constant terrible diarrhea and crampy pain. That has kind of subsided and now I am noticing that I have diarrhea often in the mornings and have a great deal of pain afterwords. Even when my stool is not diarrhea-like, I still suffer after a bowel movement, which is a new symptom in the last 4-5 months. The pain is odd. Sometimes it is lower, like in the rectum area, and sometimes deeper inside on the lower left side of my abdomen (colon area).
862686 tn?1239064700 I also had a hysterectomy (9 weeks ago) and experienced diarrhea, then constipation, pain/pressure in my rectum, and my hemorrhoids really took off! It's probably ok, but because of the blood in your stool, you should contact your doctor ASAP. You could be having a complication from the surgery. Better to be cautious.
1710955 tn?1309446473 Laura, what ended up happening? I am 2.5 weeks post op from hysterectomy and having the same, god-aweful pains and my intuition told me it's my gall bladder...i have had issues with it in the past. But, like you, this came about suddenly here. When I googled "gall bladder angry after hysterectomy", your post and the other gal's came up. How are you?
Avatar n tn Also in 2020, I began having GI issues, mostly vomiting and diarrhea whenever I ate. Feelings of fullness easily, stomach pain, cramping and bloating. I underwent an ectopic removal in 2016 and again in 2018, my gallbladder removed in 2020 (gallstones were found in an xray), as well as a laparoscopy to see the cause of the abdominal pain (adhesions removed) and a colonoscopy, endoscopy, hydrogen breath test, SIBO, ... you name it. Hysterectomy completed with left oophorectomy in 2022.
Avatar m tn I am not sure what my damages were/are but I have had bowel issues ever since my hysterectomy (severe diarrhea for many months post-op). My surgery was not da Vinci though. It appears that the da Vinci is more likely to cause harm than other methods. A friend who was damaged by da Vinci said reports of damages by the robot have increased significantly. Surgical recovery from hysterectomy (absent surgical damage) takes 6 months to a year.
Avatar n tn After my hospital stay, I was sent home with Clindamycin and Ampicillin capsules to take for 5 days. I had diarrhea for 4 days straight and called the Dr. She told me to stop taking the medicines immediately. About 4 days later, I was stricken with severe abdominal cramping, nausea and watery diarrhea. I was rushed to the emergency room and had CT scans, abdominal XRays, and stool samples taken. I was diagnosed with C. diff.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with an endometrial cyst on my right ovary. I also have had endometriosis for 20 years. Can the ovarian cyst be causing rib pain? My ribs, back and abdomen hurt on my right side. The pain is almost unbearable. I feel it constantly. I also have bouts of constipation and diarrhea. I've also gained weight. I'm scheduled for a hysterectomy in a month but I'm not sure I can wait that long. Is all this normal? I feel like I'm going crazy.
938801 tn?1245773205 t know I had it with an emergency laporotomy and who later opted to get a complete hysterectomy and do no HRT because of endometriosis problems. While they did not see any on my bowels, they did find some on my bladder, which caused me considerable problem & I think I still have some problems, maybe from surgery related scarring to this day.
Avatar f tn I am close to 10 weeks post op Hyst/BSO with a sacrocorporplexy. I also had severe lower abdomen and bladder pain which began nearly a week post op. I've done alot of reading and UTI'S are very common after a hysterectomy. I experienced a real bugger of one, which took multiple antibiotics to clear. Definitely check with your doc to rule this out. I continue to have low abdominal pain, although I am sure the infection has cleared, the pain is similar to that of a bladder infection.
1668735 tn?1451690326 I have had a stomachache with bloating and heavy feeling along with nausea after eating and yellow diarrhea....I feel pretty bad I called the doctor but was told it was a stomach virus....my stomach feel heavy it lets up during the day a bit but right after I eat....it just feels terrible. I haven't thrown up but like I said after I eat I get nauseous and the one thing that bothers me is the heavy feeling....
Avatar n tn I am 35, and am considering hysterectomy for AUB. As far as I know there is no reason to remove my ovaries and since I probably have 15 years until menopause I can use the hormones. I was wondering if because of still having the ovaries which leads to the menstrual cycle does one still experience PMS? By PMS I mean the moodiness, bloating, constipation etc?
Avatar f tn I have severe fatigue and weakness (I could sleep for 12 or more hours and still feel exhausted), frequent heartburn/chest pains, nausea and occasional vomiting, and severe diarrhea. I have been a constant Tylenol high dose user for the last 2 years where I am taking anywhere from 12-16 tablets daily. Wondering if anyone has any advice for me to try besides taking tums. I have tried that and it usually doesn't work.
Avatar f tn Well, I just had a reoccurrence with these sulphur burps but this time it was followed buy extreme stomach cramps and diarrhea all through the night (sorry for being graphic) it started as a dark brown water and by morning was yellow greasy/foamy looking. The vomiting started in the morning. I noticed that in my vomit, there was food that I had eaten two days prior that hadn’t even started to digest! Doctors don’t know what it is.
Avatar f tn My doctor has suggested laparoscopy and even a hysterectomy to help treat my painful mental cycles. Today I had a sonahystagrsm and they found 2 follicular cysts ( one on each over measuring 2.5 cm in diameter) and a fluid filled sac under my c-section scar. The doctor believes none of these things are contributing to my severe abdominal pain and cramping. I guess I am wondering what your opinions are or if you have had anything similar.
1510783 tn?1290096307 Hi - I hope all goes well for your op. I'm not yet scheduled for a hysterectomy, although in a strange way I wish I was because I feel that's where I'll end up anyway and would like to get on with my life the meantime.
Avatar n tn Hi, I am 41 years of age and had a radical hysterectomy (everything but vagina/vaginal cuff was taken) on October 26th. My doctor ran bloodwork yesterday, a complete blood count and sed rate. Complete blood count was perfectly normal, sed rate was 30, normal is 0-20. Sometimes I run a higher than normal sed rate ever so slightly due to IgA Deficient related inflammatory diarrhea flares that comes and go. I do not have Crohns or UC, nothing like that.
Avatar f tn A few months ago, however, I started getting diarrhea. I went to the doctor and they did stool tests and found staph aureus which was treated with antibiotics. I am still having constant diarrhea for 4+ months, and I have now progressed to a constant state of abdominal discomfort that is kind of pain but also bloating and pressure.
Avatar f tn I had my hysterectomy on August 22 of 2006, I was 36 years old, started having thyroid pains within eighteen months of surgery. Cysts in both breasts within 3 months of my hysterectomy and again a year later. Cysts on ovary, now I've been diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer (papillary) at 38. Could there be a connection between the Hysterectomy and Thyroid Cancer? No major problems before hysterectomy.
Avatar m tn It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar n tn Yes, I had the left ovary removed initially, and then when it was found to be malignant went to a gyn/onc for a hysterectomy including removal of the other ovary. I was able to have laproscopic surgery both times. The sensation you are having could be phantom pains or maybe scar tissue on the one side - the other could be the cysts. My burning was on the side where the cysts were.
