9595194 tn?1404749116 Just watch your symptoms and be sure to tell your endo if you start having symptoms of hypothyroidism, due to the Methimazole. Symptoms of hypothyroidism are sudden weight gain, constipation, cold intolerance, hair loss, fatigue, depression, muscle/joint aches/pains, swelling of the face/hands/feet, etc.
927140 tn?1244210051 m already on Synthroid and Celexa. In two weeks he is wanting me to start on Phentermine. I have had lots of weight gain. I'm a little concerned about these BIG changes, but I do want help. Has anybody heard of this combination in meds?
Avatar n tn The more fibre in the foods you choose the bigger the weight loss. You can fill up on veggies for 0 points and get that fibre in. Good luck.
Business woman2 Many weight loss products should not be used by those with hypothyroidism as they can interfere with thyroid hormone absorption.
1082722 tn?1256234206 I have not gained weight on Synthroid (similar to Levo). It should help you lose weight once your FT4 and FT3 go up. The doctor should be treating your freeT4 and freeT3 to get optimum weight loss results and to alleviate hypo symptoms. She should also have run TGab and TPOab antibody tests to make sure Hashimoto's isn't to blame for the hypo condition. Also, I would request a thyroid ultrasound.
Avatar m tn Do you guys have any explanation for the weight loss and reduction in testosterone levels? The loss in testosterone and weight is very large given the time span. What are some suggestions? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.
Avatar f tn Does everyone gain weight with Hashimotos and hypothyroid. It is so depressing. I am thinking on going on WW or Nutrisystem, but will I lose weight if my thyroid is still screwed up? I have low motility too when it comes to digestion too. Took the sitz test and an average person can poop out the beads in 2 days and it took 7 for me. What have other done? I am frustrated!
Avatar m tn Usually, if your thyroid levels are stable then you will not need to be retested unless there is a change in your body ie, weight loss or increase, development of any diseases, pregnancy, and basically anything hormonal. I too hope to use the natural route once I am stabilized. I wish you must happiness and luck.
Avatar m tn My question is this, ever since being on the synthroid I have not felt well. Headaches, loss of appetite, weight gain, 7 pounds in 6 weeks. I am very active and do mixed martial arts 4 times a week. Is this normal or should I go see an endocrinologist?? I was also taken off my HCTZ due to elevated calcium levels. My blood pressure went up to 150 over 90 and she put me on another blood pressure medice.
1440512 tn?1294471633 Im sorry. I must have mistyped. i'm not experiencing a weight gain but a severe weight loss. I've lost 100lbs so far. I lost 12 just last week. The dr won't even entertain retesting. I had to quit taking the synthroid because it was making me lose faster. I know I'm dehydrated because my lips and mouth are very dry and you can pinch the skin on top of my hand and it stays. For some reason I've cut my fluid intake in half.
Avatar m tn ve been taking synthroid for the last six months since being diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I take synthroid in the morning and some vitamin supplements before I go to sleep. I started the vitamin supplements a month ago and have noticed some of my thyroid symptoms coming back (i.e., major sleep problems, loss of hair.....) Could the synthroid and supplements interact with each other somehow even though I take them 8-10 hours apart from each other?
Avatar f tn t retarded, but have had problems with relationships, lack of concentration, depression, mood swings, loss of memory at different times in my life. I didn't get diagnosed with Bi-Polar until 1988 and ADHD in 1995. My question is: Since I wasn't retarded, what other complications can come from being born with a non-functioning thyroid gland besides retardation. Is it possible that my Bi-Polar symptoms came from my thyroid disorder?

Third, please post your thyroid related test results and their reference ranges shown on the lab report so that members can assess the adequacy of your testing and treatment.
Avatar n tn m working with my PCP and cardiologist to reduce the current 150 mcg of Synthroid due to tachycardia and other hyper symptoms (weight loss, heat intolerance, fatigue, irritability). What would you suggest as my targets for TSH, T4 and Synthroid dose? Could you recommend an Endocrinologist in Tampa? Thanx again!!
Avatar n tn The treatment for this is a synthroid-type medication. Sometimes hypothyroidism is transient, therefore would do further evaluation such as TPO antibody and consider no treatment and recheck in 6 weeks to make sure this persists before committing to what is often lifelong medication. Focal bald sopts are not like like due to hypothyroidism (esp when this mild). Stress is one cause of hair loss (also not usually focal blad spots).
Avatar f tn Even though health wise I felt better most of the time had issues with weight gain and most disturbing hair loss. I have almost gone bald and have been trying to adjust meds just to stop hair loss. 6 months back shifted to brand synthroid 62.5 mcg. Felt fine but hair loss didn't stop. Recently read a lot about cytomegalovirus so asked my endo about it. I am prescribed cytomegalovirus 5mcg + 50 mcg synthroid.
Avatar f tn T4 is a prohormone and less active when compared to T3 - this is the reason why many patients with hypothyroidism on Synthroid fail to lose the excess body weight. For increasing the basal metabolic rate (BMR) which is required for weight loss, T3 is more important than T4. Higher your T3 levels, the better your BMR. Cytomel is therefore added to Synthroid to effect weight reduction. The effect of Cytomel takes a couple of weeks to set in. Cytomel can be given upto 100 mcg/day.
Avatar m tn Back in the 90's I was diagnosed with Graves Disease. I was treated with radioactive iodine and placed on syntroid. I haven't had any bad side effects over the years. At the end of Dec, 2012, my Doctor lowered my Levothyroxine from .20mg to .15mg. A few weeks later I began experiencing some confusion, constipation, dry skin, aversion to the cold, overall fatigue, gaining weight while not eating much and blotting.
10314769 tn?1409238579 Is anyone taking synthroid for thyroids? My thyroid has been normal for about 1 year now, but I have to come tiny taking my meds. I'm on 50mcg. I'm a bit worried because I heard pregnant women who have thyroid problems have a higher chance of miscarriage. The doctor said when I get further along with my pregnancy they would increase my dose. Anyone can relate to this? I'm almost 6 weeks pregnant.
Avatar f tn I have several hyperthyroid symtoms, including heart palpitations, hair loss, anxiety, accelerated heart rate, infrequent periods, tremors, fatigue, sleeplesness, and muscle weakness. I think the only symptom I am lacking is weight loss. I am actually gaining weight. Does this diagnosis sound right?
Avatar f tn t have the other initial symptoms of racing heart and exercise intolerance. Can the weight loss be a sign that my thyroid is working again and I should go off the Synthroid? Thank you.
