hypoglycemia

Avatar n tn About 4 years ago I went through a medical scare and think I may be suffering from some anxiety, but not sure any more. I have daily spells of not feelling good, it doesn't last all day most of the time, but occurs at least every 2 hours. I feel very lightheaded, or unsteady, my vision seems to feel blurry,my legs have pain and weakness, and I have severe lack of concentration and energy.
Avatar m tn Other possibilities are pancreatic insulinomas causing a surge of insulin production after meals, hypoglycemia and an urge to sleep. In women it can also be due to PCO (of course—not applicable in your case ). Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral. Take care!
Avatar n tn t know much about pre-diabetes, however, I do know that hypoglycemia is a condition, in and of itself, that requires medical treatment. I have heard that some people with hypoglycemia develop diabetes at some point in their lives, but many do not. Hypoglycemia is a condition, according to my understanding, where your body metabolizes the sugars you eat very quickly, essentially leaving your body without the fuel it needs to run on.
Avatar n tn The other term for Reactive Hypoglycemia is postprandial hypoglycemia. It is no longer diagnosed using the glucose tolerance test due to the number of severe reactions. I hope this helps.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with hep c 4 years ago. I don't remember the genotype but I remember the dr. said it was the worst type, the hardest to get under control. I had a biopsy done shortly thereafter and it showed that I was a 1 on a scale from 0-4. I haven't been under medical care since then and had an addiction problem until last year. After I got clean I began having severe problems with hypoglycemia.
Avatar n tn The answer will depend on age and medical conditions. I would recommend you talk with your physician about what is best for you.
Avatar n tn we are not shure what to do just looking for the right advice. other people are telling us this is not right medical treatment but they are not doctors eather.
Avatar n tn Am nor in the medical field but i think your doctor needs to give you more information than what you got. I agree that a nutritionist would help but before you see someone you need to contact your healthcare provider and ask what it means to you and baby if they say you are hypoglycemic. How does it affect your pregnancy, shd you worry about it and how you can remedy - i think thats what they shd provide you with.
Avatar n tn This could possibly be a condition known as Hypoglycemia and is definitely worth asking your doctor about. Hypoglycemia occurs around two hours after a high carb meal. The pancreas over secretes insulin due to the rapid rise in the blood sugar and then the low blood sugar results. I would definitely have this studied further. Have a wonderful day.
Avatar f tn The majority of babies born to mothers on beta blockers do not require treatment for any of these side effects. Treatment is sometimes required for hypoglycemia, and much less frequently for respiratory distress or low heart rate/low blood pressure. Overall, the decision of when to use beta blockers and when to stop is best made by your obstetrician/perinatologist. The risk vs.
956433 tn?1255977108 good eating habbits are key in treating BOTH anxiety and hypoglycemia separately...that's no different if you have them both together. while there are many routes in treating anxiety...all of those routes are aided by good diet. i've yet to hear of one thats aided by a poor diet, but i suppose all is possible...though certainly not probable. obviously the frontline treatment of hypoglycemia is good diet. with this in mind, it's reasonable to assume good diet can only benefit you.
Avatar n tn I have been monitoring my glucose levels for a few days now and was wondering when to go to my doctor. A little history. I am high risk for type II based on family history, two pregnancies with gestational diabetes and I am about 50 lbs overweight. I was also diagnosed with hypoglycemia at 16 (I'm now 32) On Monday I was feeling foggy, trembly and weak so I decided to check my glucose to see how low I was. I was actually at 187.
Avatar n tn 71 is normal but again I felt horrible, weak, shaky, anxiety, etc. Could this be something other than Hypoglycemia? Before I had lunch I ran 2.5 miles on the treatmill and felt fine so this is beginning to puzzle me.
Avatar f tn I would see your doctor about this very soon, as folks with hypoglycemia may develop diabetes later on. You may have pre-diabetes, and need to go on a diabetic diet. Meanwhile, make sure you have both protein and carbohydrates with all meals, and with all snacks, which you seem to be doing. You also might need to get a dietary consult and/or see an endocrinologist, for both are specially trained in working with people with blood sugar problems.
Avatar m tn s an interesting article adding to the growing body of knowledge that suggest a significant downside of over-treatment.. Obviously, these are important conditions and hopefully people will neither be under or over-treated and will seek out the best available medical advice as well as stay on top of the topic themselves to challenge their doc's knowledge as appropriate.
Avatar n tn This sounds like epilepsy come back and tell me if I'm right. You don't go convulsive on a diabetic onset usually always extreme cases comatose and that's what this sounds like extreme. Diabetes is very slow progression in early ages not causing extreme low blood sugars read extensive materials if you love him. I hope I could help.
Avatar n tn He told me it has been that way since he was 18 (he is 34 now) and that he was told by his mom (who is not a doctor) that it is from Hypoglycemia. She assumes because she is Hypoglycemic, that he is too. She does not have black under her eyes. No matter how well he eats, the black never goes away. My questions are....First, is this where the black eye comes from? Second, should he be on medicine if he is Hypoglycemic?
Avatar f tn I was also prescribed Lexapro, Lamictal, and Welbutrin for dystymia and anxiety. I recently taperd off the Lexapro. I now have all the symptoms of hypoglycemia: tingling in lips (its constant, no break) and dizziness at just the slightest turn of the head, heart rate that is averaging 100 beats per minute (this has been constant not in little bursts for about three days now), and tightness in the chest/lung area, slight muscular type pain during deep breathing (also for about 5 days now).
Avatar f tn I have been having extreme bouts of hypoglycemia, back to back, making the ms feel ten times worse, was just wondering is there a link between having me, and suffering from frequent episodes of low blood sugar, especially in the morning?
1654177 tn?1319838494 Hi everybody! In the past 3 months, I wake up in the morning and my feet are numb. After I get up and walk around the numbness goes away within about 5-10 minutes. I also urinate often and get fatigues (which may be normal, plus I drink a lot of water). I seem to keep my weight down too easily these days, I eat a lot, and I only mildly exercise (walking, hiking and pilates). Anyway, I told my doctor at Kaiser and she ran a random blood glucose test (non-fasting).
Avatar n tn Detection and diagnosis of hypoglycemia can lead to treatment that can totally correct this condition. Even if the symptoms are vague and seemingly subjective (which makes most doctors want to shy away from this diagnosis), if you're the one experiencing them, they can destroy the quality of your life." You will notice that sugar cravings is a symptom that is listed. My son had symptoms of high blood sugar for approx.
1773104 tn?1314155711 Anyone familiar with anxiety attacks being caused by hypoglycemia? I read that when your brain isn't getting enough glucose, it will tell your body to release adrenaline to get it's glucose, thus, spawning an anxiety attack.
Avatar n tn My daughter was diagnosed yesterday by her doctor with hypoglycemia and her blood sugar was 80. I am not finding much about this on the internet but what I have found does not say this is a bad level. This was at about 11 am in the morning with nothing to eat of drink since night before. Should I be doing anything but helping her with diet and excercise and does this seem to be in the hypo range to you?
