Common Questions and Answers about Hypoglycemia symptoms non diabetic

hypoglycemia

Avatar n tn That sounds like Reactive Hypoglycemia, which is a condition where people's blood sugar drops after eating a meal high in carbs. You could try eating less carbs and see if it improves or you could visit your doctor.
1654177 tn?1319838494 Anyway, I told my doctor at Kaiser and she ran a random blood glucose test (non-fasting). My blood sugar was 68 ml/dl, the standard range is 70-140 ml/dl. She says to just eat less carbs and do more cardio exercise, and that this could be pre-diabetes. The part that concerns me is the numb feet. I have cut down carbs in the past 2 weks and continued to exercise more, but still my feet are numb, and hurt sometimes. Any advice?
649848 tn?1534633700 ve had the GTT, my doctor says instead of pre-diabetes, I have Reactive Hypoglycemia... Because of the pre-diabetes diagnosis, I have tried to follow a diabetic diet for some time to prevent full blown diabetes; however, since having this test, I find myself starving and getting weak/shakey within a short period of eating, no matter what kind of food I eat. I also have Hashimoto's/hypothyroidism.
Avatar m tn but I DO have non-diabetic hypoglycemia (as diagnosed by my endocrinologist after nearly a year of testing). Apparently we are a very rare group, and so it's not unusual for non-diabetic hypoglycemics to end up here via an online search. Maybe you want to ban us all, but please do not cause confusion by giving misleading information. Non-Diabetic Hypoglycemia is NOT NOT NOT Type 1 diabetes. Please check your facts before posting misleading information.
Avatar f tn I have been having problems with LOW BLOOD SUGAR. I am NOT a diabetic. Example: this morning i was dizzy, glucose was 115. I had a cup of yogurt, 30 mins later my level dropped to 95. After eating breakfast { 1 egg, 2 pcs whole wheat toast and 1 Tbsp peanut butter it dropped to 78. I can not seem to maintain my level and have been dizzy, nausuous and all the other symptons. It is hard to eat 6 meals a day as I work. I try to eat whole grains, and don't use sugar.
Avatar f tn ve been having a hard time with what I was told was reactive hypoglycemia. I get all the symptoms of hypoglycemia without having the low blood sugar. I addressed this issue with my GI doctor because I have been eating dairy and gluten free, eating 6 meals a day (now every two hours), and drink liquids between my meals. I do try to not eat sugar, eat a lot of meat when I can afford it, nuts, fruits, veggies, and I still get symptoms. They suggested I eat 40 grams of fiber.
Avatar n tn hypoglycemia is low blood sugar, and it is increasingly prevalent in our society. Hypoglycemia can cause an array of symptoms, including spaciness, fatigue, mood changes, PMS, sugar craving, headaches, difficulty focusing the eyes, tremors, temperamental outbursts, depression, excessive sweating, hot flashes, palpitations, cold extremities, abdominal pain, and panic attacks.
Avatar n tn Hi there! I'm a 22 year old college student, and I've been a "fasting" hypoglycemic since I was a kid. I'm non-diabetic and they are unsure of the true cause of my hypoglycemia... though they think that it has to do with several genetic factors. I'm here because I'm hoping someone can answer some questions for me because my hypoglycemia has been really severe this year...
Avatar n tn You may suffer from hypoglycemia alone or you may be pre-diabetic or diabetic. Only your doctor can tell you for sure. It sounds like in the next week he is going to do either an A1C which tests for your average blood sugar in a 2-3 month period or an OGTT which means drinking a high sugar liquid and testing your response over a couple hours. At any rate his comment that severe hypoglycemic reactions are common in women your age is absolute nonsense!
Avatar f tn Two more thoughts. A lot of people don't take hypoglycemia seriously as I'm sure you have noticed over the years. I have to admit I was one of those people who thought people were just complaining. Then I was in Costa Rica with a friend and her husband. We had a hard time finding a place we wanted to have lunch and then the service was very slow so we were starving. I am a Type 1 diabetic, my friend's husband is a Type 2 diabetic and my friend also said she was hypoglycemic.
Avatar m tn my question is why i feel weak and energyless even if i have controlled my diabetic
Avatar n tn Hello, I've had both extreme symptoms of hypoglycemia (chills, intense hunger, rapid heartbeat, etc) and type 2 diabetes (frequent urination, thirst, rashes, fatigue) and have had several blood tests done but haven't been diagnosed with either. I was wondering if there were any specific conditions that could cause both symptoms of hypo/hyperglycemia. Thanks.
Avatar n tn org/diseases-conditions/hypoglycemia/symptoms-causes/syc-20373685 There is something called reactive hypoglycemia. In people without diabetes, hypoglycemia can result from the body producing too much insulin after a meal, causing blood sugar levels to drop. This is called reactive hypoglycemia. Reactive hypoglycemia can be an early sign of diabetes. https://www.diabetes.
Avatar n tn (and once again if you have diabetes and already know these symptoms, forgive me) Hypoglycemia (Low Blood Sugar) - shakiness - fast heartbeat (could feel like anxiety) - impaired vision - hunger - weakness, tired (High Blood Sugar can cause frequent urination and large amounts) Again, I am unclear if you have diabetes. I perceived your post as a non-diabetic looking for answers.

Avatar n tn I'm a 32-year-old female. I've been sick with strep, mono, yeast infections, bladder infections, more strep and more yeast infections for the past 8 months. I've been tired and just feel bad over-all. My vision has changed, my toe has fungus and I seem to have all of the symptoms of diabetes. I was tested for hypoglycemia about three years ago and it was 117. I saw my doctor last week for a follow up strep appointment and mentioned diabetes to him.
1770925 tn?1365618522 I have hypoglycemia for years and I don't eat sugary foods or fried foods. I eat small meals 6 times a day. Fruit and vegetables and soy products. Just fish etc. I am just saying that small meals often is the way to go with hypoglycemia. This eating regime helps my sugar stay level and not low, but if I stress the sugar drops and ginger helps me. I am not on any medication. See your Dr for advice.
Avatar f tn Weight has nothing to do with, if your diabetic or not. As for you Hgb(iron count), 20 is way too high. Normal range of Hgb for women: 13-16mg/dl. I donĀ“t know what type of physician your seeing, but you do have some diabetic symptoms and this "physician" is not capable of observing symptoms nor does he have medical criteria. Recomendation: Buy a personal blood glucose unit and monitor your results.
Avatar n tn And also, when it is the mom that is diabetic as opposed to the dad-to-be, statistics show that the chance of having diabetic children is only VERY slightly higher than the chance of a non-diabetic mom having diabetic children. Type 1 diabetic dads for some reason have an increased chance of having their children become type 1 diabetics, but for the type 1 diabetic mom-to-be, the news is good. Your kids will probably be very healthy and normal.
Avatar n tn Hi, You did not say in your post if you had been evaluated by a physician or if you were ever diagnosed as a diabetic. For many people a blood glucose in the 80s except following a meal or other food/drink intake is normal.
Avatar f tn From what I understand initial low blood sugar symptoms (that is the feelings as your sugar drops, rather than the symptoms that come about after suffering low blood sugar over an extended time) are a hormonal response your body puts out to tell itself your sugar is dropping and to do something about it. Those initial signs - the shakiness, the disconnecting feeling (almost dream-like disconnect) sometimes cold sweat, etc, can result from other things as well.
Avatar m tn and 215 obese). I have not yet been diagnosed as Type 2 diabetic, but lately my blood sugar levels have been moderately high when tested. It appears I am either pre-diabetic or already there. For example, a couple of evenings ago my glucose was 181 an hour after eating. I am not taking any diabetes medication. I am scheduled to have another fasting blood test later this week, which may result in a Type 2 diagnosis. Here's what I don't understand.
Avatar n tn I did not give you a complete list of symptoms of hypoglycemia. Below are symptoms that can mean that your glucose is low. You may not feel all of them, and may experience only one of them.
1348086 tn?1370783185 I am not a doctor but I do suffer from hypoglycemia where if I don't eat I get dizzy and feel like I am going to pass out. I have had this since I was a teen and am not diabetic at all and after years of only eating 2 tiny bits of food a day, of course to lose weight as teens are prone to doing, I learned that 7 protein meals a day kept my blood sugar running nice and smooth.
