Avatar f tn this morning i was dizzy, glucose was 115. I had a cup of yogurt, 30 mins later my level dropped to 95. After eating breakfast { 1 egg, 2 pcs whole wheat toast and 1 Tbsp peanut butter it dropped to 78. I can not seem to maintain my level and have been dizzy, nausuous and all the other symptons. It is hard to eat 6 meals a day as I work. I try to eat whole grains, and don't use sugar. I just can't keep my level up. Why does it drop? how can I prevent that?
Avatar n tn hypoglycemia is low blood sugar, and it is increasingly prevalent in our society. Hypoglycemia can cause an array of symptoms, including spaciness, fatigue, mood changes, PMS, sugar craving, headaches, difficulty focusing the eyes, tremors, temperamental outbursts, depression, excessive sweating, hot flashes, palpitations, cold extremities, abdominal pain, and panic attacks.
Avatar n tn 71 is normal but again I felt horrible, weak, shaky, anxiety, etc. Could this be something other than Hypoglycemia? Before I had lunch I ran 2.5 miles on the treatmill and felt fine so this is beginning to puzzle me.
Avatar n tn is it possible in severe cases of hypoglycemia for diabetes-type symptoms to occur when the sugar level gets too high, or would they only happen when the sugar gets below the normal level?
Avatar f tn I was also prescribed Lexapro, Lamictal, and Welbutrin for dystymia and anxiety. I recently taperd off the Lexapro. I now have all the symptoms of hypoglycemia: tingling in lips (its constant, no break) and dizziness at just the slightest turn of the head, heart rate that is averaging 100 beats per minute (this has been constant not in little bursts for about three days now), and tightness in the chest/lung area, slight muscular type pain during deep breathing (also for about 5 days now).
Avatar f tn Is anyone else having hypoglycemia (which is low blood sugar abt an hr or 2 after meals)? I'm 26wks and been having it for around a week now.How do u usually deal with it when it strikes?
Avatar n tn I have tested for hypoglycemia, but symptoms occur in the mid-60s, well before the standard blood glucose level identified as hypoglycemic. I have had my thyroid tested (normal) and two blood panels: standard metabolic (CO2 level slightly high at 34, otherwise normal) and standard blood test (normal). I have seen a counselor. This is a real physical problem, but I can't find a doctor who will listen to me. I follow a healthy diet, limiting carbohydrates as much as possible.
Avatar n tn not so much a fatigue, but more like a sick, unwell, uneasy feeling throughout the day, and when my blood sugar becomes low, this feeling I have been having only increases as well as adding in the usual symptoms of hypoglycemia -- sweating, anxiety, feeling faint. Only eating a meal that isn't conductive to weight loss will I recover to an extent, but I still am not feeling well even when my sugar level recovers. I would say that maybe this happens 2-3 times per day.
Avatar f tn Trembling, fatigue and headaches after meals may be caused by postprandial hypoglycemia or reactive hypoglycemia. To verify this diagnosis, you need to check your blood sugar level ( a blood glucose level that falls below 70mg/dL). This condition usually occurs in individuals who do not have diabetes. Associated symptoms include sweating, dizziness, anxiety, confusion, weakness and difficulty with speech.
Avatar f tn I have been recently diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, i guess about 2 months now. During the summer I continued to run cross country, and after about 2 weeks I figured out how to keep my levels up enough for practice. Now that school has started my whole routine has changed. I've changed from practicing at 7 in the mornign to 3:45 in the afternoon, and first I couldn't practice, but then I got the hang of it and my levels were conrolled.
Avatar n tn well this could be the hypoglycemia, i too have it but dont often have symptoms because i eat constantly and eat candy often. but i am no doctor so you should definately ask your doctor about it. hypoglycemia seems to be thought of as not serious, but in fact its just as serious as diabetes, and also can progress like diabetes. you may have been told this 5 years ago but it may have progressed to a higher level. it could be worse. you need to have your doctor check your blood sugar levels.
Avatar n tn In some patients, symptoms of hypoglycemia occur during fasting (fasting hypoglycemia). In others, symptoms of hypoglycemia occur after meals (reactive hypoglycemia). Drug-induced hypoglycemia is seen with the inadvertent or intentional overdose of insulin or oral medications used to lower blood glucose. Blood glucose-lowering pills and insulin are medications used to lower the abnormally high blood glucose levels in patients with diabetes mellitus.
Avatar n tn About hour 3 I crashed to a blood sugar level of about 37. I have met with a nutritionist and I am trying to adhere to this diet. However, it isn't making me feel any better. My head is very cloudy and I have difficulty concentrating. My head hurts constently and I can't sleep well at night. My eyes burn and sometimes I just feel like I am zoned out. I have a demanding job and this isn't working out so well for me. In addition I feel like my weight is all over the place.
Avatar n tn It's absolutely something to be concerned about, but if your daughter doesn't show any more symptoms it likely isn't as big of concern. Just learn the symptoms and keep a watch out, and ensure that the hypoglycemia doesn't progress.
Avatar n tn I'm a 32-year-old female. I've been sick with strep, mono, yeast infections, bladder infections, more strep and more yeast infections for the past 8 months. I've been tired and just feel bad over-all. My vision has changed, my toe has fungus and I seem to have all of the symptoms of diabetes. I was tested for hypoglycemia about three years ago and it was 117. I saw my doctor last week for a follow up strep appointment and mentioned diabetes to him.
Avatar f tn In the (2) condition, the high dose of protein will cause an insulinogenic response, secreting insulin into the blood, which will then drive your blood sugar low, but then it will then take some of the protein and convert it to glucose via the gluconeogenesis reaction, which then will cause blood sugar level to go up and then your body to secrete more insulin into your blood, to bring sugar level low. The best diet would be one that is not very insulinogenic.
Avatar m tn So, lately I have been experiencing symptoms what seems to be hypoglycemia. I have recently been diagnosed with IBS, and now I am trying to figure out the other symptoms. like lightheadedness after meals, not being able to stand still, heart palpations and being heat intolerant, dizziness and chest tightness and being tired plus headaches and a lack of appetite and nausea a lot with some tunnel vision or glared vision(things seem too bright).
2154088 tn?1336592380 My dog has been having the symptoms of hypoglycemia for most of his life, which have started becoming severe lately. He has a serious food aversion from an illness he had as a puppy, so he tends to miss meals and be an extremely picky eater (an issue we are constantly working on). There are times he may go without eating much for nearly 24 hours and when this happens I give when Nutri-Cal or a product called Stat.
Avatar m tn i was tested for diabetes, and my results were 76 1st hr 81 then 43 3rd hr, they say i have hypoglycemia ? i didnt feel any symptoms when i left.......
1770925 tn?1365618522 I have hypoglycemia for years and I don't eat sugary foods or fried foods. I eat small meals 6 times a day. Fruit and vegetables and soy products. Just fish etc. I am just saying that small meals often is the way to go with hypoglycemia. This eating regime helps my sugar stay level and not low, but if I stress the sugar drops and ginger helps me. I am not on any medication. See your Dr for advice.
Avatar f tn I've been having quite a few problems lately, I have alot of different symptoms such as dizziness, feeling weak, sometimes feeling a bit of vertigo, at times difficult to breathe. I'm not sure what's wrong with me I haven't got to a doctor yet due to no insurance, but it's getting so bad that I'm about to check myself into a hospital. Does anyone have any ideas on what I may have?
Avatar m tn National Institute of Health (NIH), a blood glucose level below 70mg/dL at the time of symptoms followed by relief after eating confirms a diagnosis for reactive hypoglycemia." With that said, it would be in your best interest to schedule a full health evaluation with your doctor. If you happen to dip below 60 mg/dl it could be detrimental to your well being.
Avatar m tn I've been suffering on and off from what I think is some kind of metabolic disorder or low blood sugar level. I've always gotten the typical irritability/shakiness when hungry ever since I was little, but it seems really out of hand right now. Before a meal/when I'm hungry, I have all the symptoms of hypoglycemia and have to eat NOW to feel better. So I'll eat a snack or my usual meal, but about 30mins to 1hour later I get tired, weak, lightheaded and hot flushes.
Avatar n tn We are not doctors on this Forum, but folks who either are parents of type 1 children or type 1 diabetic folks ourselves. Yes, your symptoms do sound like those of hypoglycemia, but an infection can also cause drenching sweats. When your body is battling an infection, stress hormones are released, and it is possible, I suppose, that your body is just not functioning at its best right now. Whether you have had mild hypoglycemia before or not, of course, we can't tell.
1034736 tn?1319559035 You will need to run a few more tests which will monitor your blood glucose level, insulin level and C-peptide level. A CT scan or MRI of abdomen may be done to rule out polycystic disease of the ovary. Sometimes suppression tests are done in a hospital setting to see the effect of insulin. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Do consult your doctor. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
