Avatar f tn Foods that are slow release energy foods are the type of foods that she should be eating. Refined foods like white bread, sweets, chocolate, cakes, biscuits, energy drinks and fizzy drinks will spike up her sugar levels very quickly, only for the sugar levels to plummet down very quickly.

Avatar n tn Hello, I've had both extreme symptoms of hypoglycemia (chills, intense hunger, rapid heartbeat, etc) and type 2 diabetes (frequent urination, thirst, rashes, fatigue) and have had several blood tests done but haven't been diagnosed with either. I was wondering if there were any specific conditions that could cause both symptoms of hypo/hyperglycemia. Thanks.
Avatar f tn These are vague symptoms for hypoglycemia. I would see an Endocrinologist and have some bloodwork done.
Avatar m tn t any spikes and then drops of your blood sugar. I have read that sometimes the symptoms of hypoglycemia can be more sever if the numbers are dropping fast, not necessarily how low they actually go. Also, you want to eat based on how much activity you are doing at the current moment. if you are sitting around watching TV, you won't need the energy from the sugar and calories the way that you would if you are going for a walk or even working out.
6918915 tn?1395932871 I suddenly get very light headed, dizzy, anxious, hot, sweaty and STARVING. I think this is hypoglycemia but not totally sure and I'm going to ask my doctor on Monday at my appt. It happened here and there a few weeks ago but now it's been happening every day and its awful. I end up literally stuffing my face with anything I can find that has sugar because my body feels like that's my only instinct. Then after like 20 minutes of eating and putting my head down I feel better.
Avatar n tn In some patients, symptoms of hypoglycemia occur during fasting (fasting hypoglycemia). In others, symptoms of hypoglycemia occur after meals (reactive hypoglycemia). Drug-induced hypoglycemia is seen with the inadvertent or intentional overdose of insulin or oral medications used to lower blood glucose. Blood glucose-lowering pills and insulin are medications used to lower the abnormally high blood glucose levels in patients with diabetes mellitus.
Avatar n tn m not a medical professional, just the parent of a kid with diabetes. Have you had the hypoglycemia test or diabetes test actually done? The symptoms are there, if you haven't done those tests, I'd recommend you get them done right away to ease your concerns. The celiac test can be done as well, but many endocrinologists will recommend to test for diabetes or hypogylcemia first. Good luck.
Avatar n tn Hi, I have reactive hypoglycemia. One of the best websites to learn about hypoglycemia is reactivehypoglycemia.net. I don't think it's possible to grow out of hypoglycemia. I'm a teenager and I've had it since I was two or so. I really wish though!!

Avatar n tn hypoglycemia is low blood sugar, and it is increasingly prevalent in our society. Hypoglycemia can cause an array of symptoms, including spaciness, fatigue, mood changes, PMS, sugar craving, headaches, difficulty focusing the eyes, tremors, temperamental outbursts, depression, excessive sweating, hot flashes, palpitations, cold extremities, abdominal pain, and panic attacks.
Avatar n tn Diabetic people often have thyroid problems too, although the two are not connected in function, but both are hormone-producing organs. Your symptoms do not sound like thyroid problem symptoms to me, but check with your doctor.
2088051 tn?1334542007 So I Was Diagnosed With Hypoglycemia When I Was 15.. I'm 18 Now. It Seems Like It's Gotten Worse As I've Gotten Older. I'll Eat.. Then Not Even An Hour Later, I'll Start Shaking. This Stuff Is Horrible. I Just Need To Know If It's Because I'm Not Eating Enough Or It's Because Of The Food I Eat. Help!
Avatar n tn We have heard of a few other situations like this with small children, and I know it must be terrifying for the parents. From what I have read about hypoglycemia, different people seem to have different types of hypoglycemia, meaning that different things bring on episodes. For some people, hypoglycemia happens if they don't eat enough carbs at one meal or if they skip a meal.
Avatar f tn Hypoglycemia causes wet cold clammy skin. You would get dizzy too. Keep a log book of your symptoms and show your doctor.
Avatar f tn I don't know if this this the right place to post this, because I don't have diabetes or pre-diabetes, but I do have blood glucose issues (fasting and non-fasting). I often get hypoglycemic when I don't eat enough sugar/sweets/candy. I know it sounds completely ridiculous, but it really happens! I've tried eating lots of carbs instead of sugar, but it didn't seem to help.
6224500 tn?1388947668 Hi, I suffer from Hashimoto's and I have experienced some symptoms which I think could be hypoglycemia. Well, I've been getting a lot of nausea and headaches and come over drowsy but when I eat something sugary, within 15-20 minutes the symptoms go away. Whenever my blood sugar gets tested it comes back pretty much normal. Previous blood sugar results (reference range <10.1 mmolL) May 2013: 4.6 mmol/L Dec 2013: 4.
Avatar f tn I have been reading about Magnesium deficiency and that could be your problem. Although we get magnesium in our multivitamins, sometimes it's the wrong type. I personally switched from magnesium oxide to Magnesium Glyconate after doing some research on the different types of magnesium.
Avatar n tn When reading your comments, it occurred to me that your symptoms, including the slightly low glucose reading on your glucose tolerance test sound more like hypoglycemia than diabetes. Hypoglycemia means that your blood sugar is too LOW, not high (diabetes).
Avatar f tn Hi, these episodes of fatigue could sometimes be due to hypoglycemia. Try to eat candy or sugar something and see if it helps with your symptoms. Also, check to rule out diabetes, this can cause fatigability. Regards.
Avatar f tn If you experience this, you will need a diet of small, frequent meals that include complex carbohydrates such as breads, pastas and rice. Hypoglycemia, also known as low blood sugar, causes many symptoms including fatigue, confusion and heart flutters because -- in the case of cirrhosis -- the liver isn't able to store enough energy (in the form of glycogen, a chemical the body uses for quick energy).
Avatar n tn That sounds like Reactive Hypoglycemia, which is a condition where people's blood sugar drops after eating a meal high in carbs. You could try eating less carbs and see if it improves or you could visit your doctor.
Avatar n tn Is severe Hypoglycemia a sign of Diabetes? I have had a normal fasting blood tests. My hypoglycemia strikes with no warning many times throughout the day, even as soon as an hour after my meals. I have to carry glucose tablets and orange juice with me at all times. When it falls low I cannot function. The last really bad episode of this I could hardly breathe, complete mental confusion, weak all over, headache, heart palpitations, very scary to say the least.
Avatar m tn In the past if I delay eating I will get the classic symptoms of hypoglycemia, nervousness, weakness, jittery, and nausea. Recently I have noticed at times I have had what I will call discomfort and weakness in my left arm with a headache and numbness in the lower part of my hand from the wrist to my little finger (which doesn’t completely go away. A couple of days ago I had the same feeling in my right arm and hand.
Avatar m tn These are due to something called covert hypoglycemia. Intensive treatment to control diabetes by certain drugs leads to hypoglycemia which may not be recognised by the body. These hypoglycemic episodes are the cause of weakness and loss of energy.
