Avatar n tn tell you what the diabetic forum has some good folks who will know the answer to this..
Avatar n tn You should eat small meals throughout the day, avoiding long periods without eating. Include snacks. Don't skip meals and eat the snacks between meals to equal about six small meals. This could help prevent a large decrease in blood sugar levels.
Avatar f tn I would see your doctor about this very soon, as folks with hypoglycemia may develop diabetes later on. You may have pre-diabetes, and need to go on a diabetic diet. Meanwhile, make sure you have both protein and carbohydrates with all meals, and with all snacks, which you seem to be doing. You also might need to get a dietary consult and/or see an endocrinologist, for both are specially trained in working with people with blood sugar problems.
Avatar f tn You sound like you have hypoglycemia. You are correct to have several small meals. For snacks protein is best because it is digested slowly. I keep boiled shrimp in the refrigerator and use them for snacks. You must stay away from sugars and anything that easily converts to sugar. Are granola bars high in sugar. Better check that.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with reactive hypoglycemia and was wondering if internal tremors or weakness in extremities was a symptom? I do have episodes where I get visible tremors in the hands and cold sweats but those symptoms usually do not come with this weakness I am feeling. I do notice that when I eat something, the weakness goes away.
Avatar n tn if you dont have them around give him orange juice or anything with sugar like mountain dew or even sugar itself. some snacks you can keep around are like those gummie fruit snacks, and just little stuff like that. good luck.
Avatar n tn Hello Joy, I'm a volunteer and not a physician, so do continue working with the docs on this. A number of folks with diabetes did start out with episodes of hypoglycemia during the years before their diagnosis. Not all of us started out that way, but some do. The ketones in his urine can be an indicator that he's metabolizing fat because his cells can't get (enough) glucose. That can happen during extreme exercise and with soem weight loss.
Avatar f tn I have a follow up appointment with my doctor tomorrow question is is this something that I would have to take medication for regularly while pregnant. I already feel I'm taking too much medication now antibiotics for tooth infection plus tylenol #3 something for nausea prenatal vitamins and now this hypoglycemia. through all this I'm just praying that my baby is healthy.
Avatar n tn Eat some protein with foods that have carbs so as to slow down the digestion and absorption of those carbs, and avoid sugary caffeinated drinks, for caffeine can be a real problem for people who deal with hypoglycemia. Some people find that they can stave off hypoglycemia by eating small snacks often throughout the day rather than huge meals. --that was copied from an answer posted by another volunteer on 7/23/2007, who is very knowledgeable on the subject of hypoglycemia.
6918915 tn?1395932871 I suddenly get very light headed, dizzy, anxious, hot, sweaty and STARVING. I think this is hypoglycemia but not totally sure and I'm going to ask my doctor on Monday at my appt. It happened here and there a few weeks ago but now it's been happening every day and its awful. I end up literally stuffing my face with anything I can find that has sugar because my body feels like that's my only instinct. Then after like 20 minutes of eating and putting my head down I feel better.
Avatar n tn m being told there is NO WAY POSSIBLE that hypoglycemia can cause a seizure. I need real advice from someone. They want to lable him as epiletic. Can someone give me advice!
Avatar n tn I tell my patients to eat three proportioned meals a day and snacks between meals and It sounds like you are experiencing hypoglycemia during the day so the snacks will help with this. Also make sure to check you Preprandial and 2-4 postprandial daily. If eating this way does not help make sure you see a doctor and take your blood sugar log with you. Also make sure you check your blood sugar after certain foods so you can know what is triggering any high blood sugars.
Avatar n tn Maybe it is Hypoglycemia, what can you to stop that from happening or can you?
Avatar f tn I would suggest making sure you have at least six meals a day and purchase healthy filling snacks. Most fruit are like drinking glasses of water so that wont work, however if you are into trail mix or something i would suggest making your own with dried fruit roasted almonds or sunflowerseeds, or peanuts, and semi-sweet chocolate chips. Something like that will be more filling and last a while. After mixing it put it in small zip lock bags.
Avatar n tn I have always suspected that I had hypoglycemia (by which I mean the chronic kind, whatever that may be called). I have all the classic symptoms, as my mother says. I need to eat every 2-4 hours, otherwise I become very lethargic, even rude. That's on the outside - inside I feel hungry, nauseous, have a headache, etc. I once passed out in high school because I hadn't eaten enough one day. I recently had a "physical" for a life insurance policy.
Avatar f tn I usually eat a large bowl of cereal and eggs or yogurt for breakfast. My snacks consist of yogurt, fruit, veggies and salty snacks when I'm trying to cut back on sugar. But if I don't eat some sugar during the day I still get hypoglycemic. Adding things like cookies, candy, popsicles and sugar to my diet really seems to help a lot and then I hardly ever get hypoglycemic. I've been tested for diabetes several times, mainly because I experience some symptoms (e.g.

And I wish you safety during your tour in Iraq.
Avatar f tn my blood gluclose levels first go high then drop low when i dont feel good.i keep having to eat snacks and gluclose tablets to feel better . anyone know whats wrong with me and how to fix it.
Avatar f tn Without proper testing results one assumption is you experienced reactive hypoglycemia. Reactive hypoglycemia [or alimentary hypoglycemia] is low glucose [blood sugar] that occurs after a meal — usually one to three hours after eating. Try the following: • Eat several small meals and snacks throughout the day, no more than three hours apart. • Eat a well-balanced diet including lean and nonmeat sources of protein and high-fiber foods including whole grains, fruit and vegetables.
Avatar m tn I would recommend sorting this out with your doctor, before you start treating this as hypoglycemia with all kinds of extra snacks and such. If it IS hypoglycemia, there are right and wrong ways to treat it. It's not always as easy as eating or drinking something with a high sugar content. Are you pre-diabetic, or do you have diabetes?
Avatar n tn Rachel, Sounds to me like you may be experiencing hypoglycemia, though i certainly am not a doctor. i would advise checking as frequently as possible before your doctor appointment. He/She should be able to make sense out of your readings, a couple of day's worth should give a normal pattern of how you range. With blood issues like this knowledge is power, which is why i advised checking as completely as possible for the doctor and also write in meals and snacks also.
1348086 tn?1370783185 I am not a doctor but I do suffer from hypoglycemia where if I don't eat I get dizzy and feel like I am going to pass out. I have had this since I was a teen and am not diabetic at all and after years of only eating 2 tiny bits of food a day, of course to lose weight as teens are prone to doing, I learned that 7 protein meals a day kept my blood sugar running nice and smooth.
Avatar f tn It sounds like a heart palpitation, heat flash, or hypoglycemia.
Avatar n tn I have had troubles with reactive hypoglycemia for the last 9 years or so. I used to have a snack of pretzels in the afternoon and within an hour I was shaking and almost passed out. So I figured it out eventually that I needed to avoid high refined carb snacks. But I still seem to get hypoglycemic episodes sometimes and I can't always figure out why. Today I had a high protein, low carb meal - paleo bread (9g protein, 6g carbs(1 sugar)) and hemp seed butter (9g protein, 4g carbs(1sugar)).
20853006 tn?1547666489 That definitely sounds to be low blood sugar. Most people WILL get low blood sugar after an extended period of not eating. Some get it upon waking in the morning. Food is the cure. :>) Try to predict and eat small meals or snacks regularly to counter these episodes.
