587778 tn?1261397118 Have you had an MRI of the brain? Before I was diagnosed with PCOS they suspected brain cancer, or pituitary adneomas, (sp?). I had a lot of the same symptoms, just get to an endocronologist or a neurologist... just do not ignore it. If you have HYPOglycemia... THINK before you take metformin.... I think you may want a different doctor to help you.... If you have a family history of fibroids, and you take metformin... you should again reconsider...
Avatar f tn Hello! I'm a 22 year-old female. My sister is diagnosed with PCOS, and I was just thinking about some symptoms/issues that I have and realized they match up with some of hers. I know that someone with PCOS is more likely to have a mom or sister with it as well.

Avatar f tn The symptoms you are facing could be due to some types of seizures, hypoglycemia, hyperthyroidism, gastric reflux or due to PCOS or adrenal gland problems. These could also be panic attacks and often the person who goes through them is unaware of his being under any kind of stress. I think you should discuss these possibilities with your doctor. It is difficult to comment beyond this without examining. A comprehensive investigation is required keeping all the points in mind.
Avatar n tn Several months ago I was diagnosed with Reactive Hypoglycemia. Recently, my sugar spells have gotten worse. Last week a co-worker found me passed out on the floor. Since that day, headaches have been unbearable at times. No matter how bad my "spell" is, once everything seems leveled out, my head hurts so bad that any light or sound bothers me. Can Hypoglycemia be causing these awful headaches? Nothing I take (aspirin, etc.) seems to help.

When my blood sugar was lasted tested 20minutes after eating protein and carbs by blood sugar level was 112. 1353650 tn?1429463374 My doctor checked my glucose and insulin and it showed high normal and that I had reactive hypoglycemia. So, she treated me for the thyroid inflammation, thinking that was causing the fibromyalgia and reactive hypoglycemia. A few months later we discovered what I had because I went off my strict diet of no sugar and my condition came back even more severe.
Avatar f tn t have the enzymes or not enough enzymes to break down the gluten in the above foods) can cause all of your above symptoms - PCOS, RA, hypoglycemia, etc. It's easy to look this up on the internet. If you'd like to give the diet a try, make sure you take a gluten free multivitamin (like NatureMade brand) and that your medicines don't have gluten. If you need help, just leave me a message.

Avatar n tn I eat a balanced and healthy diet, with plenty of protein and complex carbohydrates and little sugar, yet I still experience these feelings. I have also been diagnosed with PCOS which I understanded is implicated in insulin resistance. I would be very grateful if you could advise me of the best course of action. Can I ask my GP for a fasting insulin test?

1490742 tn?1288600515 A blood glucose test ordered to measure the amount of glucose in the blood right at the time of sample collection. It is also used to detect both hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia, to help diagnose diabetes, and to monitor glucose levels in persons with diabetes. Most doctors before putting a women on Metformin for PCOS, usually do one or all of the following blood test: Fasting Glucose Test,Fasting Insulin Test,Glucose/Insulin Ratio,Glycohemoglobin A1C (HbA1C).
Avatar n tn The other possibility is food induced hypoglycemia which can happen if you have insulinoma or PCOS. It could also have been a mini stroke or transient ischemic attack. Low blood pressure or sever anemia could also be a cause. I think you should discuss these possibilities with your doctor. It is difficult to comment beyond this without examining. A comprehensive investigation is required keeping all the points in mind. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted.
Avatar n tn It sounds like a classic PCOS/Insulin resistance case - this is likely the cause of all your symptoms but has been associated with an increased rate of hypothyroidism. The cyst on the thyroid is not causing these symptoms - knowing the TSH value would be helpful - if not >3 then, not likely any thyroid contribution to the symtpoms. Even if >3 but still in the "normal range - ie up to 5.5" then there is no data for/against treatment.
Avatar f tn Is anyone else having hypoglycemia (which is low blood sugar abt an hr or 2 after meals)? I'm 26wks and been having it for around a week now.How do u usually deal with it when it strikes?
Avatar n tn Hi - I'm new here. I have pre-diabetes (about 2 years now) and have autoimmune degenerative neuropathy (CIDP for 26 years) unrelated to diabetes. I am not overweight, and am 32 years of age. My question is: does inflammation in the nervous system cause alterations in glucose metabolism? I'm currently having multiple daily bouts of hypoglycemia - my doctors can't/won't answer my question. I'm taking IVIG, Imuran and Ultram - no steroids or antidiabetics.
Avatar n tn 71 is normal but again I felt horrible, weak, shaky, anxiety, etc. Could this be something other than Hypoglycemia? Before I had lunch I ran 2.5 miles on the treatmill and felt fine so this is beginning to puzzle me.
Avatar n tn (I think he was embarassed to call and say I was having leg cramps). I told him this was something more than just leg cramps. The hypoglycemia episode followed by SEVERE leg cramps and then nausea concerns me. I have hypoglycemia episodes once or twice a week but do try and control the with diet and excercise. Sometimes I really do not know why they come, yesterday was one of those instances. I have NEVER had any sort of cramps or nausea following an episode. Is this normal? Common?
