Hypoglycemia or sugar sensitivity

Common Questions and Answers about Hypoglycemia or sugar sensitivity

hypoglycemia

Avatar n tn Sounds like hypoglycemia to me. You'll feel the sugar dropping ...even before it's below 70. I take insulin, and this would happen to me if I still had breakfast insulin in me, and if I was exercising more vigorously than usual. You are describing a timing problem: you just ate, but the food hasn't had a chance to be digested and raise your blood sugar. So right after eating, most food hasn't done anything yet.
Avatar f tn Hello Dear, Diabetes can cause dizziness due to hypoglycemia related to overdose of insulin or other blood sugar-lowering medicines.Fluactuations in blood sugar level also cause dizziness. When a level of sugar required in the blood exceeds or receeds the normal value it causes dizziness .
Avatar f tn A while back, last summer, I had been on a road trip from minnesota back to missouri, I hardly ate anything but a little bit of puppy chow and some cheese curds, that night while trying to unpack before eating I got really dizzy and shaky, I realize at this point it was most likely from low blood sugar due to not eating, but not every time I go for a few hours without eating when I start to feel hungry I get really shaky and anxious, do you think this is hypoglycemia developing or just associati
Avatar m tn i was tested for diabetes, and my results were 76 1st hr 81 then 43 3rd hr, they say i have hypoglycemia ? i didnt feel any symptoms when i left.......
Avatar m tn We are talking about Hypocalcaemia ( unless he used the wrong word here which have something to do with calcium rather than sugar. Hypoglycemia is the medical term for a state produced by a lower than normal level of blood glucose.
Avatar m tn I've been suffering on and off from what I think is some kind of metabolic disorder or low blood sugar level. I've always gotten the typical irritability/shakiness when hungry ever since I was little, but it seems really out of hand right now. Before a meal/when I'm hungry, I have all the symptoms of hypoglycemia and have to eat NOW to feel better. So I'll eat a snack or my usual meal, but about 30mins to 1hour later I get tired, weak, lightheaded and hot flushes.
1852495 tn?1319545790 Perhaps it’s lactose intolerance, you think. So you avoid pizza and lasagna. Or it’s a sensitivity to gluten, so you stop eating bread. But you still get ill, and blame food poisoning, or “bad food” or “stress”. Whatever food is making you feel “ill,” you’ve been unable to adjust your diet to feel better. 2/.Do your hands shake after meals? Two hours after meals? Three hours after meals? Trembling, shaking, cold hands/feet, and a cold nose can all be signs of low blood sugar.
Avatar f tn It ranges from being in the 60s to 120s. The highest I've ever saw it go is 122 but that was two hours after eating. I get mixed reviews…some material says eat 6 times a day (impossible since I work in a hospital) some say high protein diet others say not to… I'm just getting so confused as to what is right or wrong or normal and not normal with this. Any suggestions?
Avatar f tn I was told by my dr and a nutritionist to eat protein everytime i ate something sugary (like pudding) or high in carbs because the carbs/sugar will make your insulin spike to break it down...it over compensates sometimes and works too well which then causes your blood sugar to bottom out. Apparently eating the protein will prevent that initial spike...which then prevents your sugar from crashing and bottoming out. I hope this kinda helped...
1523917 tn?1302215871 My father is diabetic and I was told that there may be a connection or that my hypoglycemia may turn inton diabetes later on in life. I am now 41 and have very little problem controlling my blood sugar and I still do not take medication for it. Don't be alarmed...it is a very controllable condition. Keep an eye on your thyroid as this may be part of a thyroid issue but you can handle this.
Avatar f tn Is anyone else having hypoglycemia (which is low blood sugar abt an hr or 2 after meals)? I'm 26wks and been having it for around a week now.How do u usually deal with it when it strikes?
Avatar n tn You don't say if you have type 1 diabetes. How low does your blood sugar drop at how long after eating. Then how high does it spike? Are you on medication or insulin?
Avatar f tn m just a patient too, but your symptoms seems to me like possible unstable blood sugar levels, especially if you get the problems after eating sugar or high carb meals. Reactive hypoglycemia (blood sugar falls after eating) triggers tachycardia, anxiety, elevated blood pressure, sweating, etc. This condition is also caused by excess adrenaline in response to low sugar. So is anxiety (elevated adrenaline), so they are hard to differ.
Avatar n tn know what that means) 2nd hour was 199 with sugar in her urine, 3rd hour was 196 with sugar in her urine; on the 4th hour her blood sugar dropped to 40 and no sugar in the urine. Her fasting plasma glucose was 138 and the A1C was in between 4.5-5.5. She eats CONSTANTLY (hungry every hour--literally), drinks constantly, goes to the bathroom often, she is 62lbs (dropped from 70lbs this month) and about 4'10' (yes that's tall!
Avatar n tn This confusion is common, for the medications that most people are put on to treat diabetes can cause hypoglycemia if overdosed or if the patient delays a meal or perhaps does not eat the usual amount of carbohydrates in a normal meal. So diabetics can and do suffer from hypoglycemia.
1778927 tn?1381878747 t eaten in about 17 hours so I cooked some pizza and drank some gatorade. This only made me feel like 10% better. Maybe it is just taking a while to raise sugar levels or is it anxiety? People fast longer than 24 hours sometimes and feel fine! Side note: I am 32. I do not drink or smoke and have been off all medications for over a month now.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with type II diabetes, and my physician at the time immediately put me on actoplusmet (no discussion of diet and excersise control first). I told him that I previously had gestational diabetes that once on diet alone caused my blood sugar levels to drop so low that the meter read in the 40's and sometimes just LOW. The nutritionsts then changed my diet so that it was double portion sizes and everything read perfectly.
Avatar n tn The cramps could be due to the hypoglycemia, while other possibilities such as electrolyte abnormalities, vascular issues etc may need to be considered as well. In episodes of acute hypoglycemia, finely grained sugar or candies work better than chocolate along with a little water. Since this was a single episode it may be ignored, however if it repeats you may consider a detailed evaluation by a primary care physician or an internist for suggestion for an appropriate management plan.
Avatar n tn Your doctor will tell you what you should do if you develop hypoglycemia. He or she may tell you to check your blood sugar, eat or drink a food or beverage that contains sugar, such as hard candy or fruit juice, or get medical care.
Avatar n tn I have been getting high sugar levels that drop very low quickly on a daily basis. Usually always occurs after eating lunch? Is this due to hypoglycemia?
