Avatar n tn Hello, Im am 17 weeks pregnant and went in today to have the 3 hour glucose test performed. I had Gestational Diabetes in my second pregnancy, but it skipped my third pregnancy. This is my fourth. After the test I did not eat or drink anything for about 1/2 an hour, because we were picking up my son from school and getting lunch. Within 20 minutes of finishing the test, I got really shaky and sweating (Its in the 20's today) while waiting in line for my food.

6918915 tn?1395932871 I am almost 18 weeks. I should try fruit. I was keeping these granola bars in my car but I used them all and never replaced them. It's like my hunger is so desperate if I ate one cookie and waited like ten minutes it would probably help but I feel like I can't wait like I need more and I need it NOW. So scary. I cant drive when it happens or barely walk and im shaking like a leaf and feel like im 1000 degrees.
10161345 tn?1488138652 I've had hypoglycemia most of my life and crohn's disease for all of it (though only diagnosed a few years ago), so I've always had to be kind of careful. I was wondering if anyone else had experience with restrictive diets and hypoglycemia during pregnancy? At 27 weeks I'm struggling to keep my blood sugar up/stable between what foods are and aren't recommended during pregnancy combined with what my flare-prevention diet allows.
1450627 tn?1296616593 I get shakey too but I have hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). I wonder if it has to do with blood sugar like diabetes or something. As for weight gain I'm not sure. I've gained 8lbs total and I'm 22.5 weeks pregnant now. My dr said that is normal. If it is diabetes the dr will probably send you to a nutritionalist. It's not that you are eating cr@p but they will teach you how to eat when you have gestational diabetes.
8526246 tn?1405601876 I have gestational diabetes and up until 3 weeks ago I was able to control my sugar levels with diet and exercise. I was diagnosed with gd at 28 weeks and I am almost 37 weeks. I am on medicine for it. I balled my eyes out because I feel like a failure. They reassured me that sometimes its the person not doing what they should, but in my case its different. I am being induced at 39 weeks. Im hoping I go into labor on my own. No c section unless my baby has a massive growth spurt.
604185 tn?1233960857 I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes and was on diet for a week. But the glucose level don't seem to fall in the normal range. So doctor put me on glyburide, that I have to start tonight. My concern is is that going cause any problem to my baby??? Has anyone used this medicine in pregnancy? Please advice.
Avatar f tn I told him that I previously had gestational diabetes that once on diet alone caused my blood sugar levels to drop so low that the meter read in the 40's and sometimes just LOW. The nutritionsts then changed my diet so that it was double portion sizes and everything read perfectly. Due to this it was decided that I would take the medication only once per day instead of twice.
Avatar f tn I failed my one hour (fasting) with my first pregnancy at 178, and also the one hour (fasting ) with this pregnancy at 162. Passed both 3 hour fasting test and I have hypoglycemia (opposite of diabetes) and every other female in my family are diabetes.
Avatar f tn Without proper testing results one assumption is you experienced reactive hypoglycemia. Reactive hypoglycemia [or alimentary hypoglycemia] is low glucose [blood sugar] that occurs after a meal — usually one to three hours after eating. Try the following: • Eat several small meals and snacks throughout the day, no more than three hours apart. • Eat a well-balanced diet including lean and nonmeat sources of protein and high-fiber foods including whole grains, fruit and vegetables.
Avatar n tn This confusion is common, for the medications that most people are put on to treat diabetes can cause hypoglycemia if overdosed or if the patient delays a meal or perhaps does not eat the usual amount of carbohydrates in a normal meal. So diabetics can and do suffer from hypoglycemia.
Avatar m tn Sugar count would have to do with diabetes. You can develop gestational diabetes sometimes. Low blood sugar is known as hypoglycemia.
Avatar f tn I'm 11 wks 3 days... I have had every symptom of my sugar bottoming out, including passing out. Could this be my body's way of telling me I'm going to have gestational diabetes? My baby's dad is a borderline diabetic, it runs in his family, and hypoglycemia and diabetes runs in my side of the family... Help and advice please!!!
Avatar n tn trembling, clammy skin, palpitations (pounding or fast heart beats),anxiety, sweating, unger, andirritability. When the brain remains deprived of glucose, a later set of symptoms follows: ifficulty in thinking, confusion, eadache, seizures, and coma. Ultimately, after significant coma or loss of consciousness, death can occur.
Avatar n tn Hello. I'm not a medical professional, just the parent of a kid with diabetes. That doctor is wrong, 4 year olds can and do have hypoglycemia. You don't say for sure that she has diabetes, but you're testing blood sugars and talking about the honeymoon, so I suspect she is. I would talk to a endocrinologost, not a neurologist, as the conditions you describe are exactly the conditions for hypoglycemia.
Avatar f tn A while back, last summer, I had been on a road trip from minnesota back to missouri, I hardly ate anything but a little bit of puppy chow and some cheese curds, that night while trying to unpack before eating I got really dizzy and shaky, I realize at this point it was most likely from low blood sugar due to not eating, but not every time I go for a few hours without eating when I start to feel hungry I get really shaky and anxious, do you think this is hypoglycemia developing or just associati
6712392 tn?1393708678 s very important to follow your diet when your diabetic. Women who had gestational diabetes are also more likely to develop type 2 diabetes later in life, in which case you'll have no choice but to follow your diet.
Avatar f tn Gestational diabetes puts the infant at risk for a great deal of complicantions, ranging from hypoglycemia (very low sugar) to acute respiratory distress. Other complications include high birth weight requiring c section or risk to nerves inthe arm and shoulder during vaginal birth. If mom has it but she is able to keep her blood sugars in the normal range the babies risk drop down to average.
Avatar n tn -) I had gestational diabetes with my 3rd pregnancy, my 4thkids was fine and now hypoglycemia. I also have a big problem with blackouts and feeling dizzy.
Avatar n tn Yes, hypoglycemia can be an early warning sign of diabetes, or you might have something else going on. Talk to your doctor. Tell him what you are experiencing. Then make sure you get an A1C test, not just a fasting blood sugar test. The A1C tests all your glucose for the last couple months, not just one moment.
