Common Questions and Answers about Hypoglycemia or anxiety

hypoglycemia

Avatar m tn We are talking about Hypocalcaemia ( unless he used the wrong word here which have something to do with calcium rather than sugar. Hypoglycemia is the medical term for a state produced by a lower than normal level of blood glucose.
Avatar n tn You don't say if you have type 1 diabetes. How low does your blood sugar drop at how long after eating. Then how high does it spike? Are you on medication or insulin?
1778927 tn?1381878747 Not one discretion but I do have some severe allergies to certain things. Allergic episode today? Hypoglycemia? Anxiety? You are right, I should perhaps call the doctor again. Thank you for all your help and concern. I am sneezing my head off as we speak...who knows...maybe it is all the start of the flu...
Avatar m tn So whether you have hypoglycemia or not, its healthy to be sure that when you eat you have an appropriate amount of protein with your sugar intake. This slows digestion and absorption of sugar so that there aren't any spikes and then drops of your blood sugar. I have read that sometimes the symptoms of hypoglycemia can be more sever if the numbers are dropping fast, not necessarily how low they actually go.
1773104 tn?1314155711 Anyone familiar with anxiety attacks being caused by hypoglycemia? I read that when your brain isn't getting enough glucose, it will tell your body to release adrenaline to get it's glucose, thus, spawning an anxiety attack.
956433 tn?1255977108 s before anyone knew about this because she was having anxiety, depression, etc. Hypoglycemia in my case is a leading cause in my anxiety triangle.
Avatar f tn If I eat dinner too late, reactive hypoglycemia happens. It’s a horrible feeling! So a little juice or sugar water stops the trembling/anxiety/sweating/fainting/weak feeling, and I try to eat something fatty like butter and honey mixed real good in hot water and maybe some protein and that stops the episode. However, my ‘Dr’ said I have anxiety and tried putting me on meds.
2118271 tn?1337463104 I have heard of blood sugar crashes causing panic, but is it possible that my anxiety is just eating away my energy or something and causing these off the chart numbers? Anyone else experience this and how did you solve it?
1523917 tn?1302215871 My father is diabetic and I was told that there may be a connection or that my hypoglycemia may turn inton diabetes later on in life. I am now 41 and have very little problem controlling my blood sugar and I still do not take medication for it. Don't be alarmed...it is a very controllable condition. Keep an eye on your thyroid as this may be part of a thyroid issue but you can handle this.
Avatar f tn Does anyone get just awful stress/anxiety and hypoglycemia symptoms from your thryoid problem? Or could it be adrenal? I wake up so light headed (I do take 15 mg Dalmane - sometimes 30 mg). But right now if I don't get up in the middle of night and eat something, feels like my blood sugar is off even with numbers in the 70s. I am having a hard time figuring out whether to wait until I see my endo again, or go to my internist.
Avatar n tn s why I think i may have hypoglycemia. I think my fear of seizures while having my panic attacks comes from me knowing that hypoglycemia can cause seizures. I also occasionally see a little sparkly spot in my vision, and sometimes i see weird kind of sparkly diamond-like patterns when i wake up. My panic always starts anywhere around about 8:30am to 10:30am while i am in school, and lasts anywhere from about 10 minutes to like half an hour. Fresh air and snacks help.
Avatar n tn 71 is normal but again I felt horrible, weak, shaky, anxiety, etc. Could this be something other than Hypoglycemia? Before I had lunch I ran 2.5 miles on the treatmill and felt fine so this is beginning to puzzle me.
Avatar n tn I've had anxiety for over ten years. It's been off and on, always changing when I've seemingly mastered the symptoms, but never debilitating. Have used clonazapam as needed, never more than .5mg at a time. Sleep had always been my haven; no matter how anxious I got, if I could fall asleep I'd wake up refreshed. Anyway, last fall, after being away from the gym for a month or two, I exercised in the evening.
Avatar f tn i have anixety problems and also hypoglycemia, and i noticed that when i start eating the wrong stuff and not taking care of my sugar it makes my anxiety go nuts..and i heard that hypoglycemia can actually cause anxiety..
Avatar m tn yes, sugar gives you that RUSH, which is like the anxiety and your body says, oh no anxiety even though your head knows it's from the sugar or coke or coffee, I would stay away from them or in moderation.
Avatar n tn trembling, clammy skin, palpitations (pounding or fast heart beats),anxiety, sweating, unger, andirritability. When the brain remains deprived of glucose, a later set of symptoms follows: ifficulty in thinking, confusion, eadache, seizures, and coma. Ultimately, after significant coma or loss of consciousness, death can occur.
Avatar f tn I was also prescribed Lexapro, Lamictal, and Welbutrin for dystymia and anxiety. I recently taperd off the Lexapro. I now have all the symptoms of hypoglycemia: tingling in lips (its constant, no break) and dizziness at just the slightest turn of the head, heart rate that is averaging 100 beats per minute (this has been constant not in little bursts for about three days now), and tightness in the chest/lung area, slight muscular type pain during deep breathing (also for about 5 days now).
Avatar m tn The past 3 days whenever I take a nap or goto sleep for the night, right before I drift off to sleep I feel what seems to be like my body trembling. I've even felt the muscles around my throat and some times what feels like my tongue twitching and shaking. These arn't jerks that last for like 1 second, they keep going. It's hard to describe but its sort of like how your body shakes when you get a cold chill.
Avatar n tn t eating at sufficient intervals (or the right foods), your blood sugar can drop too low, causing hypoglycemia which can cause those episodes of fast heart rate and anxiety, plus a feeling that things are rushing by/overwhelming. A lot of anxiety symptoms can be treated simply by getting thyroid levels to a point that's right for you. Thyroid related anxiety can be caused by "either" hypo or hyper. Do you have recent thyroid labs you could post?
Avatar m tn If you are young and with no serious problem, then this could either be due to low blood sugar or hypoglycemia—if you had not eaten for long or it could be due to taking too much coffee. Acidity could be the other cause. Also if you had not slept in the last 24 hours, then this could even be due to sleep fatigue.
Avatar n tn This confusion is common, for the medications that most people are put on to treat diabetes can cause hypoglycemia if overdosed or if the patient delays a meal or perhaps does not eat the usual amount of carbohydrates in a normal meal. So diabetics can and do suffer from hypoglycemia.
1348086 tn?1370783185 I get that sometimes too. I have hypoglycemia that comes and goes but eating a healthier diet keeps it at bay. I do not have diabetes but it runs in my family so I keep an eye on it. I have more of a "reactive" hypoglycemia which means when I eat or drink something too loaded with sugar or empty carbs, it will make me crash within an hour or so. Then I have to grap something to stabalize it again.
Avatar m tn s difficult for me to come to terms with the fact that I may have issues with anxiety or PTSD. I have not been diagnosed with PTSD, but am beginning to wonder if I should consider it. I've been working in Iraq and Afghanistan as a contractor for some time. My job takes me all over the region on a regular basis. I feel that I have handled it relatively well until the last few months. Over the last few months, I have begun to feel increasing anxiety.
