Hypoglycemia low blood pressure

Common Questions and Answers about Hypoglycemia low blood pressure

hypoglycemia

Avatar n tn Low blood sugars can be VERY scary and hard to deal with. You may want to talk to your Dr. about getting a prescription and training as to how to use a Glucophage kit. This is essentially a large dose of sugar in the form of a shot to use in severe low blood sugar situations. Also you will need to have those around you trained in its use as well in case you can not get food and sugar fast enough on your own.
Avatar n tn If your blood glucose was 61 an hour or two after breakfast, especially if your breakfast was fairly high carb (such as cereal, bread, etc) you might have a specific type of hypoglycemia called reactive hypoglycemia which is people who have low blood sugar after a meal high in carbs. I would suggest seeing your doctor and getting tested to see what type of hypoglycemia you have and to make sure you aren't pre-diabetes.
Avatar f tn Though not the typical symptoms of hypoglycemia; similar symptoms could also be caused due to autonomic disturbances, blood pressure issues, hormonal/ endocrine abnormalities etc. I would suggest considering a detailed evaluation by a primary care physician initially and depending on the cause diagnosed/ suspected, it can be managed accordingly or specialist care may be sought. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
Avatar n tn Hello vprrchk ~ we're glad you found us and so happy that you find our site helpful to you! The condition you are referring to is HYPOGLYCEMIA which means 'low blood sugar.' Every person's sensitivity level is different and therefore where one person may remain conscious at a level of 50, another may encounter a seizure at that same level. I did type "hypoglycemia" into google and many, many links showed up, so try doing that for additional resources.

Avatar n tn You need to get examined to rule out a few things such as low blood pressure, postural hypotension (fall in blood pressure, cervical spinal nerve compression, hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), severe anemia, an underactive thyroid (called hypothyroidism), overactive thyroid (called hyperthyroidism), adrenal insufficiency (called Addison's disease), GERD or gastric reflux, and internal ear infections. Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. Take care!
Avatar n tn Recently he was back in the ER after having a severe fainting spell from low blood pressure and hypoglycemia. He was feeling the afib that morning but it was gone when the paramedics checked his heartrate. His pituitary tumor was not visible on the catscan in the ER this time (they compared it to the one from 3 years back). They sent him home from ER with normal xray of his heart and all his bloodwork comes back within normal range from recent dr. visits except low vitamin D.
Avatar n tn I also have low blood pressure which complicates the issue. When my sugar levels drop my blood pressure follows suit and I get to the point of passing out. I haven't seen a doctor, but I've been reading articles that lead me to believe that I may be pre-diabetic. The only thing is I don't understand how you can go from having low blood sugar to being a diabeitc. I thought diabetics had too much sugar in their blood stream.
Tbd I get dizzy when it's too low and too high. When it's too high I also get nauseous though.
784382 tn?1376931040 You can discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. Dizziness could be due to postural hypotension (blood pressure falling with change of position), internal ear problems and cervical spondylitis or compression of cervical spinal nerves. All these cause dizziness when you get up from lying down position or when you change position that results in a change in the level of your head. Cervical spondylitis and ear problems also cause dizziness on changing the position of the neck.
1346429 tn?1303874854 The aldomet is to lower my blood pressure, I was taking Diovan before I got pregnant, but the switched my medication because Diovan kills the fetus or causes serious birth defects.
1778927 tn?1381878747 There are actually two types of hypoglycemia, one is known as drug-related hypoglycemia and happens almost exclusively in diabetics and the second is called non-drug-related hypoglycemia and can be further divided into FASTING hypoglycemia, in which hypoglycemia occurs after NOT eating, and reactive hypoglycemia, in which hypoglycemia occurs as a reaction TO eating, usually of carbohydrates.
Avatar f tn I do suffer from Chronic fatique syndrome, low blood pressure and occasional anxiety. Thankyou for your time.
863754 tn?1239144755 As far as we know, the renal failure didn't show up, until after she was in the hospital with the low blood glucose. Insulinomas is exactly what I was thinking, though I didn't know the word for it. I just did a lot of reading and used a little deductive reasoning. One question though... Her glucose levels have increased and, now, stabilized. If Insulinomas, or any of the other potential causes, are present, could her glucose levels have stabilized like they did?
Avatar n tn I saw him for annual appointment (he started me on florinef a year ago for low blood pressure). At this appointment my BP was still very low, blood tests showed low blood sugar on a few occasions and I'd lost over 20lbs without trying. He suspect AI, so he tested for cortisol, acth, glucose, etc & 24 hour UFC. 24 hour UFC was low, serum cortisol was normal but inappropriately low due to low blood sugar of 2.6.
Avatar f tn For some people, Metformin can cause glucose [blood sugar] levels to drop too low [hypoglycemia]. This often times happens when Metformin is combined with other diabetes medications, and is more common in elderly folks or folks with internal organ issues. Low glucose also can happen when fasting before surgery or a blood test/s and after lengthy exercise. You should notify your doctor of your low glucose experiences ASAP. Ask your doctor how to adjust your Metformin dose if needed.
Avatar f tn If you have problems with low blood sugar that is called hypoglycemia. Anybody can become hypoglycemic, especially if they aren't eating enough or have a high metabolism. You could talk to your doctor about your specific situation but it sounds like your nurse already gave suggestions about eating more often to keep your sugars up to a normal level.
1034736 tn?1319559035 I'm not a professional though I had an LVN at one time, but hypglycemia or low blood sugar I would think hits when you haven't eaten on time and your blood sugar drops too low. You should get checked for diabetes however. Also, get your estrogen level checked by a gyn to see if you have a hormonal imbalance- headaches can come from estrogen dominance and hot flashes from estrogen dips. Also, if you have migraine headaches, certain foods can trigger these.
Avatar f tn In the (2) condition, the high dose of protein will cause an insulinogenic response, secreting insulin into the blood, which will then drive your blood sugar low, but then it will then take some of the protein and convert it to glucose via the gluconeogenesis reaction, which then will cause blood sugar level to go up and then your body to secrete more insulin into your blood, to bring sugar level low. The best diet would be one that is not very insulinogenic.
Avatar m tn First when your blood sugar rises too high, causing your pancreas to release a large amount of insulin that drops your blood sugar too low, and second, a slow drop in blood sugar caused by your liver running out of stored sugar. Doctors used to think that insulin-induced hypoglycemia follows meals and that your liver running out of sugar doesn't follow meals, but they now know that both types can occur any time.
Avatar m tn My blood sugar is normal at that time, but blood pressure is high (for me--150/80). I have talked to 5 doctors about this (2 different endocrinologists), had scads of blood tests (thyroid is okay), and lately had MRI to check hypothalamus--also OK. My doctors say my meds aren't the cause. This began about 3 months ago. If I take an afternoon nap, it sometimes happens then, too.
Avatar n tn Have you heard of insulin resistance? This may be partially to blame for hypoglycemia if it is "rebound", meaning her blood sugars may not sharply exceed the high levels, but if she eats a heavy meal -especially one high in simple carbohydrates- several hours later it "crashes" giving her hypoglycemia. It was explained to me that the insulin triggers becomes overreactive and dump a large amount of insulin in response to the free sugars in her system.
