hypoglycemia

Avatar f tn Is anyone else having hypoglycemia (which is low blood sugar abt an hr or 2 after meals)? I'm 26wks and been having it for around a week now.How do u usually deal with it when it strikes?
Avatar n tn If so, experiment with Orange juice or grape juice or whatever juice you prefer...drink 4 ounces and wait 10-15 minutes and check your count again...depending on which lab you have your blood work done, the normal range is either 70-110 or 80-120...if you are not having a hypoglycemic event, sweating, shaking etc. it's possible that your count is fine...as everyone's symptoms can be different, you need to discuss this with your doctor or a nutritionist...good luck...
2088051 tn?1334542007 So I Was Diagnosed With Hypoglycemia When I Was 15.. I'm 18 Now. It Seems Like It's Gotten Worse As I've Gotten Older. I'll Eat.. Then Not Even An Hour Later, I'll Start Shaking. This Stuff Is Horrible. I Just Need To Know If It's Because I'm Not Eating Enough Or It's Because Of The Food I Eat. Help!

Avatar n tn Last Sunday, I happened to take her bs 30 minutes after a breakfast of eggs, bacon, hashbrowns and orange juice. It was 67. It is a week later and the strange feelings have gradually gotten worse now with a tingling, numbing sensation in her extremities with the other symptoms as well...slight nausea I showed her how to do the monitor... This morning after breakkfast she felt really bad & so she did her reading. It was so low the monitor said LOW, and the instructions say call a doctor.
20873517 tn?1556118244 If you have hypoglycemia, you should eat less fruits, honey, juice, etc. People with hypoglycemia must always bring sugar, sometimes because the body is not enough sugar, which leads to coma and so on.
Avatar n tn m being told there is NO WAY POSSIBLE that hypoglycemia can cause a seizure. I need real advice from someone. They want to lable him as epiletic. Can someone give me advice!
1991526 tn?1327610038 I was shakey and pale until i had some juice. It tends to get bad when some people get pregnant really early on.
Avatar n tn When I checked back in Nov my Numbers were 74 - 108 (even with the Thanksgiving Feast), and checked today at in-laws, and after eatting the Christmas Feast it was only at 116.
Avatar n tn hey, My friend has Hydrocephalus and has a shunt. unfortunately, this causes her to not eat much because everything she eats makes her sick, which I'm assuming is what resulted in her also being hypoglycemic. I've read that orange juice, apple juice, and grape juice are good ways to help hypoglycemia but both of those make her sick! aside from getting IV's is there anything she can take, or eat that has a low chance of making her feel sick, but will help her hypoglycemia?
Avatar n tn He went to the hospital, was admitted and thouroughly checked out. Finally he insisted they give him some orange juice which restored his glucose level. He checked out normal neurologically. Lately he has had 3 hypoglycemic episodes in the past 2 weeks all involving paralysis to his right side. He is needing a lot more juice to revieve him. He also has mood swings and irrational anger. Is there a connection to the lantus? Should he go back to his previous insulins?
Avatar n tn If this does help, then it would seem likely that your problem is hypoglycemia. I would encourage you to keep small boxes or cans of juice in your purse (2 of them in case 1 is not enough) and try this the next time you feel funny. Also, I would keep a record of when this happens to you, not only when the severe times happen that cause you to actually pass out, but also when you feel funny as if it is going to happen.
Avatar n tn Unfortunately, I believe that many tightly controlled diabetics do have to be aware that severe hypoglycemia is always a possibility. Anything such as added excitement or activity can cause him to be more sensitive to the insulin he takes and also burn up more of his glucose so a low is possible. Frequent checking is the real safety net, and also, as he gets older, making sure he always has an emergency sugar with him for times when he may feel this coming on.
Avatar n tn Is severe Hypoglycemia a sign of Diabetes? I have had a normal fasting blood tests. My hypoglycemia strikes with no warning many times throughout the day, even as soon as an hour after my meals. I have to carry glucose tablets and orange juice with me at all times. When it falls low I cannot function. The last really bad episode of this I could hardly breathe, complete mental confusion, weak all over, headache, heart palpitations, very scary to say the least.
Avatar f tn Even just a sip at times. Just now I have been drinking a cup of 7 up mixed with Orange Juice, the first pop I have had in probably a year, but half way through my drink and I litterally feel like I am going to pass out! Though it is worst with pop, it is beggining to happen with other drinks too. I can't drink Fruitopia anymore, it's progressing to just as bad as pop. And sometime even water.
Avatar m tn As the above posters have noted, the shaking is a hallmark of hypoglycemia, and the provisional diagnosis is "rule out hypoglycemia". As Allmymarbles suggested the shakes are a warning, and a big one. This is correct. There are several possible etiologies. Fasting blood sugar testing is one means of evaluation, however there is another test, known as an insulin challange, that involves an IV line. Both are equally good, but the later test does not tie up the office for several hours.
Avatar n tn Eat some protein with foods that have carbs so as to slow down the digestion and absorption of those carbs, and avoid sugary caffeinated drinks, for caffeine can be a real problem for people who deal with hypoglycemia. Some people find that they can stave off hypoglycemia by eating small snacks often throughout the day rather than huge meals. I do wish you the very best. And I wish you safety during your tour in Iraq.
Avatar f tn For some people, Metformin can cause glucose [blood sugar] levels to drop too low [hypoglycemia]. This often times happens when Metformin is combined with other diabetes medications, and is more common in elderly folks or folks with internal organ issues. Low glucose also can happen when fasting before surgery or a blood test/s and after lengthy exercise. You should notify your doctor of your low glucose experiences ASAP. Ask your doctor how to adjust your Metformin dose if needed.
Avatar f tn If I eat dinner too late, reactive hypoglycemia happens. It’s a horrible feeling! So a little juice or sugar water stops the trembling/anxiety/sweating/fainting/weak feeling, and I try to eat something fatty like butter and honey mixed real good in hot water and maybe some protein and that stops the episode. However, my ‘Dr’ said I have anxiety and tried putting me on meds.
Avatar n tn She woke up and was very lathergic and she would fall over like a drunk her legs would not support her and ahe was not responsive just not her self. we gave her some juice and 20 min later she was fine. I took her to the dr and he said if it happened again to bring her in. 6 months later she had another spell in the morning same thing happened after a very long hard day of playing. I took her back to the DR.
Avatar f tn s had episodes of hypoglycemia during the night - anywhere from 1 to 4 am - on average once every two weeks. Most times he wakes because he's sweaty. A couple of times - last night in particular - his respiration was quite shallow, he was absolutely soaked, and not fully aware until I shook him. After some juice and a granola bar he was better. I know I need to get him to the doctor. Any clues what might be going on? Thanks!
Avatar n tn I have always suspected that I had hypoglycemia (by which I mean the chronic kind, whatever that may be called). I have all the classic symptoms, as my mother says. I need to eat every 2-4 hours, otherwise I become very lethargic, even rude. That's on the outside - inside I feel hungry, nauseous, have a headache, etc. I once passed out in high school because I hadn't eaten enough one day. I recently had a "physical" for a life insurance policy.
Avatar n tn Gave me orange juice and a lady gave me a glucose tablet. They called family to pick me up. Spent rest of day in bed, was absolutely freezing. Severe abdominal pains as well. Now, two days later, still weak and a little shaky. Could it manifest this way and do I need an emergency room visit?
1852495 tn?1319545790 Hypoglycemia is generally considered to be blood glucose levels of below 50 mg/dL. Read the following list of symptoms; if this sounds like you, you may have this condition /1.Do you have a “food allergy” or frequent stomach upsets but you can’t pinpoint the cause? One of the first signs that your blood sugar is dropping can be feeling sick to your stomach. But a drop in blood sugar isn’t visible. Perhaps it’s lactose intolerance, you think. So you avoid pizza and lasagna.
Avatar f tn Hi, these episodes of fatigue could sometimes be due to hypoglycemia. Try to eat candy or sugar something and see if it helps with your symptoms. Also, check to rule out diabetes, this can cause fatigability. Regards.
Avatar n tn I am wondering if anybody here has made the same experience - I am suffering on a Diabetes Type 1 since 1998. My HBA1 is ok (6,7) and my problem is either Hypoglycemia than Hyperglycemia. Does anybody know the following symptoms: increased heartbeat and pulse, vertigo and the feeling to get unconsious any minute? This attack has a duration of 5 - 15 minutes. It happened four times to me. After the first time I made a medical check-up which brought no results.
Avatar n tn your blood sugar is low you need to eat! Orange juice with sugar mixed into it will help you and follow that with a protein snack, also take your blood sugar to see what it is. If it does not rise with in 15 mins drink some more orange juice. I hope this helps. you blood sugar should not stay permanently damaged and what ur are experiencing are side effects of hypoglycemia.
