my room mate has a shih tzu female and i have a male mini pin and even thow we tried to stop it they bred she is about 64 days into the pregnancy. and ihave a few questions its been over 20 years since i have been with a female dog that is going to have puppies. and i have always had big dogs.

I have 4 8 week old shih-tzu/yorkie mix puppies. one of them when he poops he bleeds. What could cause this?

My Shih Tzu was bred on the 16th of Feb. Since then she has had many changes in her skin and is itching all the time. I have read almost every website to try to see what it could be related to. She has a negative Ultrasound the 3/7, which could have been early for her to have one. I have done all the diet changes. I dont know if this could be related to a pregnacy or a medical issue. I know I shouldnt ride it out too long. She is also not gaining pounds but is bulking out.

If the rottweiler is the male, it can and probably will kill the female to carry and whelp a litter of puppies from a dog so much larger than herself. If the shih tzu is the male, it's unlikely that he will be able to breed the rottweiler female on his own unless he manages to catch her laying down on the couch or something. In any case, as Karla said, there are already many thousands of homeless mixed breeds in this country already, we certainly don't need more.

Sounds to me like you have a normal Shih Tzu. All three of my families Shih Tzu act the same; they sleep for 99% of the day and when they play they sprint around the house at the speed of light, for about 20 minutes then it is back to sleep. My wife thinks the dog is depressed, but that is just how Shih Tzu are. They are very low energy dogs. As for the puking, that is also pretty normal. Shih Tzu have very sensitive stomachs. My dog pukes often in the morning, usually once a week.

You should also be able to easily palpate the abdomen and FEEL puppies in there. Earlier in the pregnancy it takes a skilled hand to feel for puppies, but when they are ready to be born, you can see them move right through her side and if you press on her side, you should feel them. The surest thing to do would be to have a vet palpate her abdomen for you, because the only sign that a false pregnancy will not produce that a real pregnancy will is puppies.

Our shih tzu vomits up the same thing but we have never put him on a special diet. He eats almost anything BUT he doesn't eat grass outside like our other dogs do.
