Hypoglycemia in puppies dogs

Common Questions and Answers about Hypoglycemia in puppies dogs

hypoglycemia

2154088 tn?1336592380 This is a very tricky case and I am not sure how much help I will be. Chronic hypoglycemia is often due to a hormonal imbalance or for older dogs a tumor attached to the pancreas (insulinoma). But in this case I wonder if your dog has epilepsy and is seizuring/hallucinating (staring at the wall) and the sympotms are being confused with a low blood sugar level. Hypoglycemia can cause seizures however primary epilepsy is more common. The neurologist will be able to help a lot. Good luck.
Avatar m tn My dog (who is not a puppy) does some strange things and makes some weird noises during dreams and sleep. She howls, moans, yips, breathes like she's running a marathon, snores...... So weird breathing CAN be just a dreaming-thing. The length of time it takes to really "wake up" can vary with dogs too. Mine wakes instantly, but some dogs are dozy for a minute or two after waking.
10870053 tn?1416581194 my husband was wanting a puppy really bad and i was going to get him one for christmas but now im second guessing it.

482907 tn?1208416453 My parents dog had a litter of puppies and we gave all of them away. We gave one to a neighbor and a few weeks after we gave the puppy to her, she said the puppy was getting sick. We had already given puppy his parvo vaccinations, so we were pretty sure that it wasn't parvo. Anyways, the neighbor started giving puppy penicillin and another antibiotic, and she was giving it to him about two times a day for almost 2 weeks.
Avatar m tn Are you sure there are more puppies? Sometimes there can be some time in between puppies but if she has been pushing this long you best get her to the vet. The puppy may be too large, dead or turned and can't make it through the birth canal. Your female may also need a Pit shot.
442658 tn?1563386491 And from the way you describe them, they are inguinal hernias, which are not all that common. Most hernias in puppies are umbilical hernias that appear as a little bubble where the umbililcal cord was attached, and they are caused at birth by the mother chewing the cord off too vigorously and too short. The chewing and pulling on the umbilical cord causes a tear in the wall and the hernia is formed.
Avatar f tn m a huge animal person and love love love dogs, so it was not a big deal for me. But I do have friends who would have no interest in the time it takes to train a puppy. In those cases, a bit older that the rescue says is trained is a much better option.
Avatar f tn Thank you very much. I will try this advice. I neglected to say that my dogs are 6 years old now not puppies. The breeder had them in her large mud room with a litter box in the bornor. She did not let them outside at all because they were born in November and sold in January. She felt it was too cold here in Massachusettes hence the litter box. She felt it helped the new owners and was a selling point as most were working and some were in apartments.
Avatar f tn There was blood and she seemed like she is in shock. She does get up and stretch and walk around. However, prefers to be in a crate in a quiet and dark room. She was crying out in pain and shivering. I did not want this to happen, so I am not happy she is traumatized like this. Any suggestions or information?
Avatar n tn Not only would it be unfair to the people who ended up buying the puppies, speaking not only in terms of medical bills but also in terms of watching the dog they love suffer with the allergies, it would be unfair to the dogs themselves, since they would be the ones suffering with the allergies. I know it's not what you wanted to hear, but when it comes to creating new lives, we must be as realistic as possible and strive to do only what's best for the dogs in question.
675718 tn?1530033033 I love my fluffy puppies. They're no longer puppies, but 5 year old big dogs that think they are puppies.
Avatar f tn I have Heard that smaller Dogs like her have a hard time carrying puppies from bigger Dogs and that it can kill them if the puppies are too large for her to carry. I'm really concerned because She has been showing all of the early signs of pregnancy. Even though the weiner dog isn't a big dog, he is bigger than her. HELP!
5069617 tn?1366659785 I think my puppies know I get lonely at night because my 3 pit bulls lilo stitch and Oreo all climb in my Queen sized bed and curl up with me. One in the small of my back one in the bend of the back of my knees and the 3rd in front of me against my belly. They're really sweet dogs And people are really nervous about me introducing my little one to them when its time. I mean pit bulls aren't all vicious mine will just lick u to death Lol.
Avatar f tn so she got pregnant, on wednesday we brought her to a vet, and he said she has about another month till the puppies come, but guess what, my fiance goes downstairs in the morning today and there they are...4 puppies..one died.. we werent there for her when she was in labour, because she sleeps in the kitchen, and i think one died because she didn't lick the membrane off completely..it was covering its head..or it could of been still born, don't know, sad..
4290325 tn?1356918391 When do I introduce the outside to the puppies and when d I start them on dog food. I inherited these dogs from my Mother-in-law. She was a breeder and then she passes away.
Avatar n tn I think its fine. Puppies are always amazing pets. My dog had 3 puppies and we have them all. They're a year old so we have 4 dogs in total . They know where to go to thw bathroom and they also know when to go inside their cages. Since their hair doesnt fall off its perfect. Don't let others imfluence you. Do what'll make you happy but be responsible.

Avatar f tn and i have always had big dogs.
Avatar f tn , meaning they will produce only one litter in their lives, but because there are so many individuals, they are responsible for 75% of all the puppies born each year in this country.
Avatar m tn Sometimes it can be due from stress .It is usually seen in puppies between the ages of 6-12weeks.Usually it is outgrown.I try to keep some Caro syrup on hand just in case. Please let us know how his vet visit goes.Take care.
Avatar n tn s true that many people do not bother to do this before they breed their dogs, dogs from these types of breedings have a MUCH greater chance of ending up in rescues or in shelters where they end up being put to sleep. I'm sure you don't want to contribute to the shelter overpopulation problem. The safest thing to do is to have your female spayed.
Avatar f tn s smell on it before baby comes home and let them smell it.
Avatar m tn I just picked up 2 Great Dane puppies on Saturday from a breeder in California. The breeder said they were 5 weeks the next day and already wormed them that Wednesday and they needed to be wormed again the following Wednesday. Before meeting with us, she gave them sandwiches from a gas station, water and dog food. They were fine during the drive home and the following day one started to have diarrhea and vomiting. He has since stopped vomiting and will not eat much but is drinking a little.
