Hypoglycemia in fructose intolerance

Common Questions and Answers about Hypoglycemia in fructose intolerance

hypoglycemia

Avatar f tn Hi, I have a Pituitary tumor and elevated Prolactin. Recently i found out i get hypoglycemic few hours after eating. I'm a carrier of a Hereditary Fructose Intolerance gene so i thought that was the cause of the low blood sugar. After cutting out all fructose from my diet i still get hypoglycemia. After ingesting pure glucose my sugar goes up and then drops low even faster after 2 hours.
Avatar m tn Fructose is (in various amounts) in all fruits, fruit juices, and many foods and drinks sweetend with high fructose corn syrup. In fructose intolerance, sorbitol (in diet sodas or "sugar freE" chewing gum) can also affect you. I invite you to read this: http://www.allhealthsite.com/201/fructose-intolerance/ http://www.allhealthsite.
Avatar n tn glucose ratio, sorbitol (diet cola, sugar free chewing gum), and high fructose corn syrup (HFCS), which is added in many foods and drinks, should be avoided.
Avatar n tn There are some sites that deal exclusively with fructose intolerance, so you might consider googling fructose intolerance and speak to people on those sites.
Avatar m tn Hi there, Eating too much fruit can complicate the amount of fructose in your body. This in turn can lead to over-production of fat which can be harmful for your health. Foods with the highest fructose content are peaches, prunes, pears, cherries, plums, apples and apple cider, grapes and dates. These fruits are hardest to digest and can cause fructose intolerance. Excessive fructose can lead to leptin resistance, which could cause weight gain if combined with a high fat and calorie diet.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed fructose intolerent recently. Acid reflux and IBS for many many years. Do you have a diet of friendly and unfriendly foods. Is there a sandwich bread that would be friendly?
Avatar f tn There is fructose in processed meat and in sweetened milk. Sorbitol, xylitol or HFCS are often used as sweeteners. In fructose intolerance you should avoid them all.
Avatar n tn There were minor problems found, but nothing that would explain the alcohol intolerance. I am now convinced it is fructose malabsorption.
Avatar f tn A white rice or quinoa would be alright in small amounts and in moderation. (I know people will rail against white rice but whole grain or brown rice contain too much anti-nutrients and can cause leaky gut syndrome) Make sure to eat those starches with protein and fat to help reduce the spikes of glucose. Do not go low fat, your growing baby NEEDS saturated fat in order to build healthy neuro-processors. Just stay away from trans-fats (mostly found in processed foods).
Avatar f tn I suspected fructose intolerance myself and when I asked my GI specialist about testing for it (hydrogen breath test) he had no idea where to test for that >:P I ended up calling local hospitals out of the blue and got the run around.. nobody here in Utah had one but I did run into a website that said the University of Utah had one...but by then I had figured it out (stupid..such a simple test and nobody has one...
Avatar f tn Unabsorbed lactose in lactose intolerance and fructose in fructose malabsorption are fermented by intestinal bacteria and cause gas.
Avatar f tn Just want to say that fructose malabsorption or hereditary fructose intolerance (HFI) is possible.

1536593 tn?1292557199 Definitely stay away from diet soda and all sources of artificial sweeteners. It's not the brand name that's important here, it's what's in the product. Likely, you're like me and this is an intolerance. It's still necessary to AVOID this stuff in the future. There are a lot of bad health effects associated with artificial sweeteners--all of them. The primary one, of course, being that they are known carcinogenics.
Avatar n tn Dietary fructose intolerance, or fructose malabsorption, how it tends to be called nowadays, can be tested by hydrogen breath test with fructose. You can diagnose yourself with a strict low fructose (not necessary fructose-free) diet trial. Exclude all this from the diet for 2 days: 1. Fructose: honey, all fruit and fruit products of any kind, honey, anything containing "high fructose corn syrup", or "fruit syrup". From vegetables, avoid tomatoes and carrots.
Avatar m tn Hi to all. I'm doing an online investigation about DIETARY FRUCTOSE INTOLERANCE (DFI). In this condition most fruits (apples, pears, prunes...), honey, some vegetables (tomatoes, artichoke...), products with added High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS), sorbitol (in "low calorie" foods or "sugar free" chewing gum) and often wheat and onions cause BLOATING and DIARRHEA (also headache or depression). For more info click on my username and check "journals".
Avatar n tn I am female and was 19 two weeks agao. Earlier this year my doctor noticed i had a heart murmur which is yet to be assessed by a cardiologist. I had been experiencing what he believes to be vasovagal attacks where i lose my sense of balance, go completely blind and deaf, get cold sweats and shakes before collapsing. I don't have any known allergies but have developed an intolerance to nuts.
Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed with fructose intolerance - through the hydrogen breath test. My major sympton is that I pass wind without even knowing about it. Does anyone else have this problem? And what did you do?
Avatar n tn If cutting down mikl helped, it means you probaly have at lest slight lactose intolerance (lactose is in dairy products). You might want to try with low-fructose diet: exclude all fruit juices, and apples, pears. If this will help, I can give more info about this.
610738 tn?1263111556 Hereditary fructose intolerance (HFI) is a genetic condtion where because of lack of one enzyme needed to metabolize fructose, affected person cannot safely ingest ANY amount of FRUCTOSE (including SUCROSE that is fructose + galactose) and SORBITOL (often used as an artificial sweetener) that can be converted into fructose after absorption. Fructose is also in HFCS (high fructose corn syrup. Complete exclusion of fructose, HFCS, sucrose and sorbitol is needed.
Avatar f tn So for a large portion of my life, I've had abdominal pain. In recent years, so around the last 4 or 5 years its gotten much worse and more and more symptoms keep appearing. The ones I've noticed most frequently are; -mild to severe abdominal pain -dizziness -weakness or lack of strength -constantly tired -blood from the rectum -inflammation markers in blood tests -abdominal pain after ingesting food To name all the ones I can think of currently.
Avatar m tn This is one of those presentations in which one needs to possibly watch it a few times to catch more, but one of the I believe that the message is that we are eating more and more sugar; they are putting it in everything. Yes, in bread, it is in my canned tomatoes, etc. So #1 we are facing a higher intake of sugar than EVER before. #2.... and this would be in CAPS, that HFCS.....High Fructose Corn Syrup if radically different than regular sugars.
Avatar m tn I don't think the answers are necessarily in conflict. However we're not talking about the same thing as lactose intolerance. Lots of things have been show to make cataracts worse: diabetes, obesity, any tobacco use, alcohol abuse, steroids, trauma to the eye, excessive sun exposure, radiation treatment through the eye, surgical vitrectomies, certain drugs, certain syndromes, heredity.
