hypoglycemia

Avatar f tn this morning i was dizzy, glucose was 115. I had a cup of yogurt, 30 mins later my level dropped to 95. After eating breakfast { 1 egg, 2 pcs whole wheat toast and 1 Tbsp peanut butter it dropped to 78. I can not seem to maintain my level and have been dizzy, nausuous and all the other symptons. It is hard to eat 6 meals a day as I work. I try to eat whole grains, and don't use sugar. I just can't keep my level up. Why does it drop? how can I prevent that?
Avatar m tn Female, 22, I'll be the first to admit I probably don't eat the healthiest diet. Being a grad student, it's hard to stay on schedule and eat regular meals, but I'm definitely eating. Anyway, this morning, I woke up at the normal 5:45 seemingly okay. I immediately got in the shower, and still seemed okay. All of a sudden, out of nowhere, I got the worst hunger pains I've ever felt in my life. Within about 30 seconds, the hunger was accompanied by nausea and dry heaves.
Avatar f tn I usually eat a large bowl of cereal and eggs or yogurt for breakfast. My snacks consist of yogurt, fruit, veggies and salty snacks when I'm trying to cut back on sugar. But if I don't eat some sugar during the day I still get hypoglycemic. Adding things like cookies, candy, popsicles and sugar to my diet really seems to help a lot and then I hardly ever get hypoglycemic. I've been tested for diabetes several times, mainly because I experience some symptoms (e.g.
Avatar f tn t think that is unreasonable, just not sure how to get there. My diet is constant snacks like yogurt, almonds, cottage cheese, veggies and very little fruit because that spikes my sugar and then it drops, chicken, lean beef and I love beans on salads and things. I want to see results so badly!
Avatar m tn Okay, first some history about myself, I suffered a panic attack in Nov. 06 and ever since then have suffered from a lot of anxiety. I'm not very active and don't really eat the best diet. For a few years now, in between meals I would feel kinda shaky and feel that I needed to eat. I asked a friend who happens to be a nutrisionist and she said it might be hypoglycemia. Now to my question or I guess concern.
709686 tn?1277432159 I agree with the suggestion above that you should have an OGTT to see how you react to carbs. Also google reactive hypoglycemia for more information. The yogurt and tortilla are about 30 grams of carbs, not an enormous amount (assuming the yogurt is plain, not the fruit kind which is sweetened). Yogurt is dairy by the way. Get the test.
Avatar n tn ve been closely watching my eating habits and have observed that about 30 - 45 minutes after consuming food (salads, yogurt, soups, generally a very healthy diet) I get an intense rush of heat which lasts about 1-2 minutes. The heat is experienced in my face and chest. It's quite uncomfortable. As I'm trying to watch sugar intake and have eliminated it altogether. This is always associated after eating. What's going on?
Avatar f tn For those of you who have been through a total thyroidectomy, I know that you fast from midnight on, and then they said it's a liquid diet the next day. I am prediabetic and have reactive hypoglycemia, and it's bad so I need to eat every 2 hrs. or so. (very difficult for me to fast) I don't eat any sugar or artificial sweetners. I have some low glycemic fruit, but fruit juices are too full of sugar. What type of liquids do they give you?
1662361 tn?1302762372 I am 23, I know I am over weight, I diet and exercise but never loss weight. I have been test for diabetes since I was 12, and my levels have always been low. I have noticed lately tho when I test because my mom and grandma are diabetic that my sugar levels are from 50 to maybe 75 no matter what I eat. I snack on granola and some times hard candy and sometimes cookies. I just feel sick all the time, and dizzy and i get really shaky and, Nothing I have been doing is working.
Avatar m tn I thought I had it made. I love yogurt, but by the time I was finished with Incivek I was so tired of Greek yogurt that I will probably never eat it again. (I am now eating my organic low fat yogurt and that tastes fine.
Avatar f tn Back in March, I moved in with my parents for a while and gained 12 pounds over the course of three months, which was very strange considering nothing in my diet changed and I’ve always been the same weight for as long as I can remember. I’ve never been a gym person and have a lightly active lifestyle, but had always been a healthy height and weight at 5’4’’ and 125 pounds. I started having palpitations around that time.
Avatar f tn 11 so yea I look a little piggy right now lol I will turn 22 weeks this week is it bad to go on a diet ?
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with type II diabetes, and my physician at the time immediately put me on actoplusmet (no discussion of diet and excersise control first). I told him that I previously had gestational diabetes that once on diet alone caused my blood sugar levels to drop so low that the meter read in the 40's and sometimes just LOW. The nutritionsts then changed my diet so that it was double portion sizes and everything read perfectly.
Avatar f tn Went for a normal physical with fasting labs. I got a call from my doctor two days later and my glucose was 56. They were concerned about me being possibly hypoglycemic. Been checking it on and off and reading a lot on the subject but no definite answer as to what I need to be watching for in the future. It ranges from being in the 60s to 120s. The highest I've ever saw it go is 122 but that was two hours after eating.
Avatar n tn You can certainly continue with yogurt and/or yogurt drinks. Be careful with the yogurt. It is better to by Stonyfield. It's all natural and has the right bacteria in it. The other yogurts are loaded with sugar. Some of the fat free ones contain aspartame, which is bad for us anyway. Try to stick with the plain yogurt if you can. The flavored ones are loaded with sugar. I try to mix my yogurt with fruit. You will have to play around with your diet to see what works for you.

956433 tn?1255977108 good eating habbits are key in treating BOTH anxiety and hypoglycemia separately...that's no different if you have them both together. while there are many routes in treating anxiety...all of those routes are aided by good diet. i've yet to hear of one thats aided by a poor diet, but i suppose all is possible...though certainly not probable. obviously the frontline treatment of hypoglycemia is good diet. with this in mind, it's reasonable to assume good diet can only benefit you.
Avatar n tn My vision has changed, my toe has fungus and I seem to have all of the symptoms of diabetes. I was tested for hypoglycemia about three years ago and it was 117. I saw my doctor last week for a follow up strep appointment and mentioned diabetes to him. Unfortunately I had just eaten a huge lunch, so he was unable to test me. He told me to come back next week. Well, as of Jan.1, my insurance has changed and I have to switch doctors.
Avatar m tn Over the past several weeks i have been experiencing what I believe to be daily, if not constant, hypoglycemia. It has gotten to the point where it is pretty constant. I've stopped eating cookies and or candy, my main device, and the shakiness persists. I occasionally get light headed, nausea, and irritable from what I believe to be Hypoglycemia but d I am concerned that it is the onset of something more destructive.
Avatar n tn Hi - I'm new here. I have pre-diabetes (about 2 years now) and have autoimmune degenerative neuropathy (CIDP for 26 years) unrelated to diabetes. I am not overweight, and am 32 years of age. My question is: does inflammation in the nervous system cause alterations in glucose metabolism? I'm currently having multiple daily bouts of hypoglycemia - my doctors can't/won't answer my question. I'm taking IVIG, Imuran and Ultram - no steroids or antidiabetics.
Avatar n tn IF this IS hypoglycemia, you can do a lot to help yourself by making some changes in diet. Folks who live with hypoglycemia often avoid all forms of caffiene, which can speed up the body's functions and therefore increase the pancreas' dump of insulin. Also, many hypoglycemic people avoid all simple sugars and many find some relief in staying on a fairly low carb diet so as not to stimulate the over-active pancreas.
Avatar f tn Need to rant lol I'm so frustrated! In the beginning of my pregnancy, I was diagnosed with bv, and was treated for it...and ever since I got treated I've gotten yeast infections every few weeks...today I was diagnosed with chronic yeast and put on a new med to help it...if that doesnt work, she's going to put me on diflucan for a couple weeks...its been so rough! This is my 4th one in 20 weeks and I'm so sick of them...
Avatar n tn Recently I started passing out and my doctor ordered a 5 hour fasting. About hour 3 I crashed to a blood sugar level of about 37. I have met with a nutritionist and I am trying to adhere to this diet. However, it isn't making me feel any better. My head is very cloudy and I have difficulty concentrating. My head hurts constently and I can't sleep well at night. My eyes burn and sometimes I just feel like I am zoned out.
526889 tn?1212540641 For your age you need 1500 calories daily to safely lose weight. I would recommend a Heart Healthy diet which is a moderate fat diet. Moderate fat diet means = use polyunsaturated (omega 3, corn oil, nuts, etc) fats and monounsaturated (olive oil, canola oil, peanut oil, etc) fats, no saturated fats (high fat snack foods, butter, fat spreads) and no trans fats.
