The rapid heart rate and anxiety last about 15 minutes....usually I take an ativan, but have in the passed had raisans and that seems to help? I think? I am so concerned and confused. I also have a nervous/tremor feeling and do feel hungry a lot and crave carbs....

I have noticed lately tho when I test because my mom and grandma are diabetic that my sugar levels are from 50 to maybe 75 no matter what I eat. I snack on granola and some times hard candy and sometimes cookies. I just feel sick all the time, and dizzy and i get really shaky and, Nothing I have been doing is working.

A few years later, I suddenly began losing weight rapidly without cause. I got down to 110 pounds, and I am a very tall woman. My BMI was under 18. I was put through another battery of the same tests, and everything was normal except the blood sugar dropping to the 70's after meals.

Avatar m tn She over the last few months has started to feel light headed or foggy after EVERY meal. No matter how much or how little she eats. And its EVERY meal. It starts about 15 to 20 min after she eats. We have tried to change what she eats and nothing changes. We try to cut out differant things yet it still happens. Its so bad that it is hurting her at work because after lunch she gets fogy and can not focus on what she is trying to do.

My concern is regarding type 2 diabetes, and preventing its development, as well as weight loss, since this is by far my biggest risk factor, I believe. I'm overweight (borderline obese), and trying to lose weight. But I have a few questions, and wanted to air them out in hopes maybe I could discuss them with someone.
Avatar n tn hi i am hoping that someone can help me i have pretty much been dealing with low blood sugar for as long as i can remmber but all the diets that i find for it is tring to advoid the spikes so you dont go low well i dont have the spikes so the diet isnt working for me. i am usually in the 70s & 80s mostly 80s 2 hours or less after i eat . can someone tell me what your suppost to do if you dont get the spikes but the lows. thank you.

However our meter broke right before I was going to start doing that. I am wondering if there is a certain type of meter that ped endos like in particular because I'm probably going to have to go buy another one. Any info you could provide would be great.

Reactive hypoglycemia [or alimentary hypoglycemia] is low glucose [blood sugar] that occurs after a meal — usually one to three hours after eating. Try the following: • Eat several small meals and snacks throughout the day, no more than three hours apart. • Eat a well-balanced diet including lean and nonmeat sources of protein and high-fiber foods including whole grains, fruit and vegetables.

Avatar n tn t think that it makes any difference whether your child eats regular meals or variable meals with snacks as long as you know how to count the carbohydrates and adjust insulin accordingly. Obviously, those who eat according to a set meal plan have their lives simplified by not having to do the math for every single meal, but some folks prefer to have the flexibility of being able to eat what they want to and adjust the insulin.
Avatar f tn What you are experiencing is called reactive hypoglycemia [or alimentary hypoglycemia] which is low glucose that occurs after a meal — usually one to three hours after eating. What also can be happening is a carb crash caused by eating mashed potatoes and buger bun [white bread]. Eating a meal laden with high carbs can cause your pancreas to kick into overdrive to produce insulin to counteract the onset of sugar from the foods you just consumed. That rush of insulin now creates a yo-yo effect.
Avatar n tn In the case of eating and then having a glucose level drop several hours later, this sounds like an instance when your pancreas put out insulin and then continued to produce the insulin to cover that breakfast after the breakfast finished digesting, leaving you on the borderline of hypoglycemia.
956433 tn?1255977108 good eating habbits are key in treating BOTH anxiety and hypoglycemia separately...that's no different if you have them both together. while there are many routes in treating anxiety...all of those routes are aided by good diet. i've yet to hear of one thats aided by a poor diet, but i suppose all is possible...though certainly not probable. obviously the frontline treatment of hypoglycemia is good diet. with this in mind, it's reasonable to assume good diet can only benefit you.

Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with type II diabetes, and my physician at the time immediately put me on actoplusmet (no discussion of diet and excersise control first). I told him that I previously had gestational diabetes that once on diet alone caused my blood sugar levels to drop so low that the meter read in the 40's and sometimes just LOW. The nutritionsts then changed my diet so that it was double portion sizes and everything read perfectly.

Avatar f tn m glad you found this helpful! I did lose weight with being on the new meal plan and especially in the beginning of the diet. Now my weight is basically leveled out. I'm 37+2 and have barely gained weight since having GD and being on the new diet. Oh, and I know for me, my water intake has increased a lot! Maybe that has something to do with my weight, but I have noticed I'm more thirsty and mainly for cold water. So, if this should happen to you ladies do not worry and it is normal.

Avatar m tn You may be experincing hypoglycemia. If you take insulin you may be taking too much for the amount of food you are eating. As insulin helps the glucose get to the cells and tissue. If you are not taking insulin your body may be releasing a large amount of insulin in response to a meal high in carbohydrates. You need to find a balance as hypoglycemia can cause you to serious problems. I would talk to your dr.
Avatar m tn Hi In 1957 I probably had an autoimmune reaction (think what happens when you get type 1 diabetes). In 1964 I took a glucose tolerance test because I get hypoglycemia many hours after eating too much sugar/starch/alchol (S). It was 70 1/2 hr 130 1 hr 175 2 hr 185 extended 3 hr 100 very minor low sugar episode about 4 hr. (no reading). My A1C has been about 6 since the test has been invented. My highest fasting blood sugar has been 90. Am I prediabetic?
