Avatar f tn This can be a brown wholemeal or seeded bread with peanut butter and a half a glass of fresh orange juice; 2 Wheetabix with milk and some soft fruit; 2 Shredded Wheat with milk and a handful of soft fruit; some porridge that you can make with milk or with water and add a handful of soft fruit or some raisins/sultanas and/or cinnamon. Have a mid morning healthy snack of a piece of fruit or natural yogurt (watch the labels for less than 3% sugar - healthy or low fat may be laden with sugar).
6918915 tn?1395932871 I suddenly get very light headed, dizzy, anxious, hot, sweaty and STARVING. I think this is hypoglycemia but not totally sure and I'm going to ask my doctor on Monday at my appt. It happened here and there a few weeks ago but now it's been happening every day and its awful. I end up literally stuffing my face with anything I can find that has sugar because my body feels like that's my only instinct. Then after like 20 minutes of eating and putting my head down I feel better.
Avatar m tn I have no hypoglycemia nor reactive hypoglycemia, but on a high carb diet i experience tiredness after eating. Thyroid panel is normal. What could be the cause?
Avatar f tn t think that is unreasonable, just not sure how to get there. My diet is constant snacks like yogurt, almonds, cottage cheese, veggies and very little fruit because that spikes my sugar and then it drops, chicken, lean beef and I love beans on salads and things. I want to see results so badly!
Avatar n tn org/diseases-conditions/hypoglycemia/symptoms-causes/syc-20373685 There is something called reactive hypoglycemia. In people without diabetes, hypoglycemia can result from the body producing too much insulin after a meal, causing blood sugar levels to drop. This is called reactive hypoglycemia. Reactive hypoglycemia can be an early sign of diabetes. https://www.diabetes.
Avatar f tn Without proper testing results one assumption is you experienced reactive hypoglycemia. Reactive hypoglycemia [or alimentary hypoglycemia] is low glucose [blood sugar] that occurs after a meal — usually one to three hours after eating. Try the following: • Eat several small meals and snacks throughout the day, no more than three hours apart. • Eat a well-balanced diet including lean and nonmeat sources of protein and high-fiber foods including whole grains, fruit and vegetables.
Avatar f tn Fasting sugar was 80 and fasting insulin was always 6-9. He diagnosed adrenal fatigue and reactive hypoglycemia due to poor diet. My problems improved with diet overhaul and life went on. A few years later, I suddenly began losing weight rapidly without cause. I got down to 110 pounds, and I am a very tall woman. My BMI was under 18. I was put through another battery of the same tests, and everything was normal except the blood sugar dropping to the 70's after meals.

1662361 tn?1302762372 I am 23, I know I am over weight, I diet and exercise but never loss weight. I have been test for diabetes since I was 12, and my levels have always been low. I have noticed lately tho when I test because my mom and grandma are diabetic that my sugar levels are from 50 to maybe 75 no matter what I eat. I snack on granola and some times hard candy and sometimes cookies. I just feel sick all the time, and dizzy and i get really shaky and, Nothing I have been doing is working.
Avatar n tn Eat only protein, vegetables, and only small amounts of fruit (not on an empty stomach), preferably fruit with fiber, such as apples with the skin, berries, etc. Do not eat white flour, white rice, dried fruit, fruit juice, soda, or anything else with sugar. Don't even have any of it in the house, as it will be too hard to resist it. You will go through sugar withdrawal for a couple of days, but within a week, you will notice how much better you feel.
Avatar f tn Last night I had to go to the er because my sugar dropped to 63 and they diagnosed it as hypoglycemia...
Avatar f tn t eat any sugar or artificial sweetners. I have some low glycemic fruit, but fruit juices are too full of sugar. What type of liquids do they give you? I am wondering if I can bring in my own protein drinks? Do hospitals have lactose-free milk? I'm lactose intolerant. If anyone recalls what they gave to you on that liquid diet day, please share that with me. I would really appreciate it. Thanks!
Avatar n tn m all there mentally. The doctor has done a three day 16 hour fast and said that hypoglycemia will definately show up if I have it. I could have told him it won't, as I have had this done before and the readings are perfect, and I feel great after a fast. Because of this they seem to think I don't have a problem, but every time I have been to my own doctor after having had breakfast, my readings are about 2.1.
Avatar m tn Hi and thanks for your reply. First, I'm definitely NOT a type 1 diabetic. Thankfully that was not my lot. My concern is regarding type 2 diabetes, and preventing its development, as well as weight loss, since this is by far my biggest risk factor, I believe. I'm overweight (borderline obese), and trying to lose weight. But I have a few questions, and wanted to air them out in hopes maybe I could discuss them with someone.
Avatar f tn ll be fine with a careful diet, as the above poster says. Interestingly, fruit juices were a no-no. Too much sugar at once.
Avatar n tn could this be a symtpom of hypoglycemia? I have done some reading, and it sounds like it might be. Could sugar and white flour or alcohol be causing this? The rapid heart rate and anxiety last about 15 minutes....usually I take an ativan, but have in the passed had raisans and that seems to help? I think? I am so concerned and confused. I also have a nervous/tremor feeling and do feel hungry a lot and crave carbs....
Avatar f tn I have been suffering from anxiety for several years. The severity of it changes. Sometimes I'm anxiety free, other times I'm a wreck. For the past 6 months I've been suffering bad anxiety. My anxiety used to only occur during the day, but now it's happening during the night (for the past 3 months or so). I used to sleep a straight 8-9 hours, no problem. Now I sleep only 1-2 hours at a time.
1675562 tn?1304267843 my doctor doesnt believe me when she looks at my food diary.....and has before, suggested to start to introduce a few veg and fruit into my diet and try to, bit by bit, cut out JUNK! if you look below at my normal diet id love to know where the JUNK is and how much fruit and veg someones ment to eat! its like she ignored it and just couldnt believe.
Avatar f tn I would suggest making sure you have at least six meals a day and purchase healthy filling snacks. Most fruit are like drinking glasses of water so that wont work, however if you are into trail mix or something i would suggest making your own with dried fruit roasted almonds or sunflowerseeds, or peanuts, and semi-sweet chocolate chips. Something like that will be more filling and last a while. After mixing it put it in small zip lock bags.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with type II diabetes, and my physician at the time immediately put me on actoplusmet (no discussion of diet and excersise control first). I told him that I previously had gestational diabetes that once on diet alone caused my blood sugar levels to drop so low that the meter read in the 40's and sometimes just LOW. The nutritionsts then changed my diet so that it was double portion sizes and everything read perfectly.
Avatar f tn Smoothies!
Avatar f tn What you are experiencing is called reactive hypoglycemia [or alimentary hypoglycemia] which is low glucose that occurs after a meal — usually one to three hours after eating. What also can be happening is a carb crash caused by eating mashed potatoes and buger bun [white bread]. Eating a meal laden with high carbs can cause your pancreas to kick into overdrive to produce insulin to counteract the onset of sugar from the foods you just consumed. That rush of insulin now creates a yo-yo effect.
Avatar f tn Went for a normal physical with fasting labs. I got a call from my doctor two days later and my glucose was 56. They were concerned about me being possibly hypoglycemic. Been checking it on and off and reading a lot on the subject but no definite answer as to what I need to be watching for in the future. It ranges from being in the 60s to 120s. The highest I've ever saw it go is 122 but that was two hours after eating.
