1662361 tn?1302762372 I am 23, I know I am over weight, I diet and exercise but never loss weight. I have been test for diabetes since I was 12, and my levels have always been low. I have noticed lately tho when I test because my mom and grandma are diabetic that my sugar levels are from 50 to maybe 75 no matter what I eat. I snack on granola and some times hard candy and sometimes cookies. I just feel sick all the time, and dizzy and i get really shaky and, Nothing I have been doing is working.
Avatar f tn Could be insufficient rest or insufficient diet -- especially since you say you're losing weight. When you change your diet, the point is to eat better permanently so the weight stays off, but you have to get sufficient of the right type of nutrients to support your exercise. Many people "diet" which is to say go on some fad diet or severely restrict calories instead of eating healthier foods for a permanent change.
Avatar n tn At that time, I was overweight (75kg) for my height (160cm) and was not careful with my diet, under lot of stress at work and not getting regular exercise. My doctor put me on Metformin (500mg twice a day) and advised me on proper diet and exercise. I lost about 5kg within 5-6 weeks by simply changing my diet and regular exercise (70kg by mid June). However, at the same time I began feeling hypoglycemic after everytime I took Metformin.
Avatar n tn Hello. I'm not a medical professional, just the parent of a kid with diabetes. As a fasting blood glucose result, 80 is on the low end of the ok range, but it is in the ok range. If your daughter will develop diabetes, or just hypoglycemia, there is nothing known that you can do to prevent it. You can keep your family, daughter included, more healthy through exercise and a better diet with more fruits and grains, for example, but that won't stop hypoglycemia in your daughter.
687079 tn?1230948612 If you get highs and lows despite your attempt to control your diet and exercise, it sounds as though you need further treatment such as oral medications. The lows are just a part of the cycle of uncontrolled diabetes: you go high and then you crash. I hadn't eaten sugar for 14 years when I was diagnosed with out of control diabetes! But your good diet habits are still very important because the meds don't do it all!
Avatar f tn But, the continuing effort is based on diet, exercise, weight control. Personally, I am not yet convinced that successfully getting rid of HCV means that insulin resistence , high blood sugar and diabetes type 2 go away. Diabetes type 2, I believe, will be an ongoing issue beyond HCV with possibly even more insidious ramifications than HCV. Good luck.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with type II diabetes, and my physician at the time immediately put me on actoplusmet (no discussion of diet and excersise control first). I told him that I previously had gestational diabetes that once on diet alone caused my blood sugar levels to drop so low that the meter read in the 40's and sometimes just LOW. The nutritionsts then changed my diet so that it was double portion sizes and everything read perfectly.
Avatar n tn I'm a 19 year old female and I've been dieting for two weeks now. I'm just on a simple diet of 1200 calories a day and 30 minutes exercise daily. Lately I've been experience numbness/tingling in my right foot (a couple of times my left also) and sometimes my entire right leg. Is this weight loss related? Should I worry?
Avatar n tn I guess I just wanted to know if I could have both hypo and hyperglycemia and it makes sense that hypoglycemia would correlate with my eating habits and exercise (I go way too long without eating sometimes and I'm working on that). Anyway, that you guys for all of the information, and I'll definitely continue taking steps to avoid diabetes! Thanks, all!
1353650 tn?1429463374 Insulin resistance is treated though diet (no sugar, complex carbs only, and 5-6 small meals a day), exercise (mild, at least 30 min a day) and medication.
Avatar n tn And exercise can cause levels to drop for over a day after the exercise... sometimes as long as 2 days.
Avatar n tn I recently had my fasting glucose checked w/ regular lab work a month ago and all was well. What could this be? Could this by hypoglycemia or the start of diabetes? What diet changes can I make to avoid this? Thanks so much for your time!
1654177 tn?1319838494 I seem to keep my weight down too easily these days, I eat a lot, and I only mildly exercise (walking, hiking and pilates). Anyway, I told my doctor at Kaiser and she ran a random blood glucose test (non-fasting). My blood sugar was 68 ml/dl, the standard range is 70-140 ml/dl. She says to just eat less carbs and do more cardio exercise, and that this could be pre-diabetes. The part that concerns me is the numb feet.
Avatar n tn Typically a low does not happen because of a lack of exercise, but can from too much exercise. Exercise may get your body back to a normal regimen which could make your body react better, but I really don't know. Eating more and smaller meals may put less stress on your system, that may be something to try. I'm not a dietician, but I don't think you should go on a low carb diet, that is a view espoused by some doctors but it is not a widely accepted message.
Avatar n tn I am a 41 year old female that has hypothyroidism and hypoglycemia and am trying to lose some weight, about 10 to 15 pounds. I take meds for my thyroid, watch what I eat and exercise 45 minutes to 1 1/2 hrs a day 5 times a week. I've tried following a low blood sugar diet and was able to lose about 4-5 lbs the first week, but for the next 5 weeks I lost nothing. This last week I went off the diet slightly and gained 2-3 lbs. back. Am I eating the wrong things?
1058898 tn?1275675151 In the meantime I would strongly suggest that you assume you do have diabetes and adopt the lifestyle (diet and exercise) measures that are necessary to control it.
Avatar n tn People who live with hypoglycemia often can control this problem by eating a carefully-chosen diet (do a Google search on Hypoglycemia to see suggestions). It is important to understand what is happening when you feel this way, for your reaction times when driving can be affected if glucose levels are too low, and so this can be a dangerous condition if it happens when you are behind the wheel of a car.
Avatar m tn Okay, first some history about myself, I suffered a panic attack in Nov. 06 and ever since then have suffered from a lot of anxiety. I'm not very active and don't really eat the best diet. For a few years now, in between meals I would feel kinda shaky and feel that I needed to eat. I asked a friend who happens to be a nutrisionist and she said it might be hypoglycemia. Now to my question or I guess concern.
Avatar f tn In fact the transplant center should be his primary source from all treatment options, diet and exercise to keep him healthy and strong to prevent or slow the progress of his liver disease. All we can provide is a general diet as we are not aware of his true condition and any other medical problems he may have. He should be talking to his hepatologist regarding any questions he has as only his hepatologist knows the true nature and extent of his illness.
Avatar m tn You need to eat regular meals to avoid hypoglycemia. Exercise also affects blood sugar so test, test, test. The best treatment for lows is glucose tablets.
Avatar f tn t think that is unreasonable, just not sure how to get there. My diet is constant snacks like yogurt, almonds, cottage cheese, veggies and very little fruit because that spikes my sugar and then it drops, chicken, lean beef and I love beans on salads and things. I want to see results so badly!
