For us to understand this, we must identify the underlying cause. Blood tests for glucose, electrolytes and thyroid function tests can be done to rule out other diseases.. My cardiologist is confused and wants me to look into other causes as the heart is being greatly affected. Even my mood changes after eating - irritable, nervous, lethargic, anxious, weak and generally uncomfortable - lasts for several hours after food. Had to go on beta blockers as precaution.

Avatar n tn My routine is to target my heart rate 145-150 and up to 162 during the middle 10 minutes. Lately, I have noticed towards the end of my workout, during the cool down, the last 10 minutes, I begin to feel lightheaded...I get the strobelight effect in the middle of my vision, and my entire field of vision begins to darken somewhat. At first, I thought this is near syncope, but recently I had a severe occurrence which my instinct told me to take my blood sugar, so I do and it was 39.
Avatar n tn It was weird, it only lasted about 6 seconds but I had to really concentrate to speak. My family has a history of diabetes and hypoglycemia. Has anyone heard of low blood sugar causing slurred speech?
1109048 tn?1311009579 t believe CFS actually causes heart palpitations; the other issues that go along with CFS are the causes. All people around the world have premature beats which is what causes the palpitations. All of the heart cells have the ability to 'fire' off impulses; it a natural backup sysytem for the SA and AV Nodes for the heart.
Avatar n tn He also complains of palpitations and his heart rate goes to about 160-180 by holter monitor but the cardiologist said his echo was normal and the monitor although it showed a fast hr it was sinus rhythm. When he stands up his heart rate goes faster but he is not dehydrated, we keep him well hydrated and his labs don't show dehydration. (nor a fever). In my family we have many autoimmune diseases. I have Sjogren's and Raynauds.
Avatar n tn s (premature ventricular contractions). I first noticed palpitations two years ago. It feels like your heart is skipping a beat yet there is a very powerful heartbeat afterwards. Sometimes mine are accompanied by shortness of breath, especially if I have several in one minute. I had a normal EKG at my primary care physician last year and no follow up, so I just tried to forget about about it. This year they returned. I went ahead and made an appointment with a cardiologist.
Avatar m tn Is there any cause for worry here, since I have a history of palpitations and the cause for it has not been diagnosed. Could the palpitations be related to the odd sugar readings? Thanks very much.
Avatar n tn I also have heart palpitations (PVCs) and sometimes wake up with a racing heart. Everything I read points me towards hypoglycemia but the glucose reading have left me confused. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Avatar m tn Hello again. Last night i was experiencing heart palpitations and was getting some bad head rushes. I figured i should get some sleep. But when i woke up i still have the headrushes and its a constant rush in my head. its agrrivating. Oh and my bp is a steady 120 over 80. no variations there. I figured it might just be in my head but i was curious what you guys thought. I am also a very anxious person and i have had panic attacks before.
Avatar n tn I agree with cindy707. I, too, get heart palpitations (heart fluttering). I am 58 years old and am in excellent health. My heart palps started about 8 months ago. First time, scared me to death. I went to my internist and he thought it was just stress and gave me xanax. I told only half a pill (10 mg) and it did help. As I was afraid to become addicted I stopped taking them and tried to ignore the palps. One night it became so bad that I ended up in the emergency room.
Avatar f tn it could be a hypoglycemic attack. Symptoms of hypoglycemia are anxiety, sweating, palpitations, nausea, and dizziness. Check your blood sugar levels. Regards.
