1662361 tn?1302762372 I am 23, I know I am over weight, I diet and exercise but never loss weight. I have been test for diabetes since I was 12, and my levels have always been low. I have noticed lately tho when I test because my mom and grandma are diabetic that my sugar levels are from 50 to maybe 75 no matter what I eat. I snack on granola and some times hard candy and sometimes cookies. I just feel sick all the time, and dizzy and i get really shaky and, Nothing I have been doing is working.
2104507 tn?1333752737 With the FT3 and FT4, you also need another TSH. Some people function better with a higher TSH, which is why you need to know the actual thyroid hormone levels. You should also get actual insulin levels tested, if you can. This should be drawn during a period of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). If insulin is detectable, the indication is insulin resistance, which means your body is producing insulin, but using it. Talk to your doctor about this.
Avatar n tn I am a 32 yr old Caucasian male. I am also about 110 pounds over weight, so I very seriously need to lose weight, obviously. But it is not that I don't have the willpower, it is that I am dealing with symptoms that make it very hard to eat properly. I will explain... In the past, I have had reactive hypoglycemic attacks, but just occasionally. Mainly during exercise. But, lately, I am having hypoglycemic attacks constantly every day...
Avatar n tn Blood sugar is our source of energy and by having too low of a blood sugar can certainly increase the chances of no weight loss and interfering with thyroid activity as well. My experience with thyroid medicines after changing to I don't know how many is that I didn't start to lose weight until I addressed my diabetes question. I am Type II which means for me I am hyperglycemic or producing too much sugar.
Avatar n tn I had my gall bladder removed 2 and 1/2 years ago and had problems with abdominal pain and weight loss. I lost weight because every time I ate I would have pain. The less I ate the better I felt. I started taking digestive enzymes 6 months after surgery because I developed fibromyalgia. It helped with my abdominal pain. I eventually had to see an endocrinologist because I started to notice a problem like hypoglycemia. She diagnosed me with insulin resistance.
1257808 tn?1322762215 Last year, I suffered from hypoglycemia, and almost my proteins, minerals, and vitamins became lows as a complication of weight loss surgery knows as Bile Pancreatic Diversion (Scopinaro). Due to the hypoglycemia, I have jerky movement and severe pain in my both leg. This sharp pain is until now. I have revision surgery, but later, I have these sleep problems. I discover that I have restless legs during my sleep recently. After my revision surgery, I diagnosed with hypothyroidism too.
Avatar f tn Fast forward back to new Endo (female) she was shocked to see what I looked like before wt.loss and during maintaining my weight loss and right now in person with 35 pound weight gain. Back to my current issue I'm currently on 100mcg synthyroid and 15mcg Cytomel for almost 6 weeks (New) and been having issues with hypoglycemia issues after eating dinner (roughly hour or 2)after eating JUST after dinner not during the day.
Avatar n tn Are weight loss and drops in blood glucose levels side effects of tamoxifen? I had a lumpectomy for DCIS one year ago and have been on tamoxifen for 10 1/2 months. I started taking the tamoxifen in the evenings; however, I found that I wasn't sleeping well, so I began taking it in the mornings. I find that if I do not take it with my breakfast or immediately after, my blood gluclose levels drop sharply.
Avatar m tn my friend as been having nausea feeling dizzy and the shivers,he recently back at the beginning of the year he had that gastor by pass to loss weight and he is also considered diabetic but its under control
Avatar n tn and dizzy, nausea, sweaty feelings are common symptoms of hypoglycemia aspects of diabetes. The frequent urination and weight loss and others are common symptoms of hyperglycemia aspects of diabetes. Only a physician can determine, for sure, if you have diabetes, pre-diabetes, or something else altogether. If your current physician was only willing to test you for anemia (are you being treated for that?), then I recommend you choose another physician for a much more complete workup.
Avatar m tn I'm a 31 year old Hispanic male. Current weight 232lbs, (height = 6'1) with most of it concentrated around my waist. Still, this is also the lowest I've been since I was 13. About a year ago I had a GTT done which revealed me to be a flat-line hypoglycemic. (Fasting = 79, 1/2hr = 81, 1hr = 71, 2hr =79) I have a very strong family history of diabetes and am working to prevent it in myself At least, that's what I hope.
Avatar m tn Would any of these diseases contribute to sudden weight loss? I have been close/over 350 lbs for years, but in the last several months I have dropped a significant amount of weight. I'm down to 287. (20 lbs in the last four weeks alone.) I wish I could say it's because I'm exercising or eating right... but I'm not. I've made no change to physical activity or diet. Any suggestions?
483733 tn?1326798446 I bloated and looked 6 months pregnant and put on about 10 lbs. After surgery this did disappear and surprisingly, I am finding it a bit easier to lose weight now than before my surgery. I have to wonder if those cysts were bothering me for quite some time.
Avatar f tn i was in the same situation almost 10 years ago and unless you work with a nutritionist or someone in the weight mgmt field, you should try surgery, I did and I lost the 150 lbs and am very happy. Being that overweight needs alot of medical support to help you accomplish that goal. So see if your insurance will cover the surgery, It will change your life.
1353650 tn?1429463374 t want to give me any more medication due to fear of side effects and expects this problem to go away with time, loss of weight, diet and exercise. The discomfort I feel so far is mild. If it gets any worse I am going to ask for more metformin. Maybe to take just 2 weeks before my cycle. My low blood sugar at this time is very difficult to control even while being on a low glycemic diet.
Avatar f tn I am suspicious of any diet pill for long term weight loss. You could ask your doctor for a referral to a dietician if this is a possibility. That's what I did. The dietician was very helpful. Don't know if this is true, but I've heard diet pills can be dangerous because of the ingredients in the diet pills. I'm not familiar with slimquick or slimquick hoodia but as I mentioned I am suspicious of all diet pills. Loosing weight too quickly is also not good.
Avatar m tn Im wondering what causes that especially in pancreatitis? I loss alot of weight a year ago, was real sick with abnormal bruising and weakness, falling down, ect, this was before pancreas started acting up again, prior to that I had only one acute episode of pancreatitis. Now its been basically non-stop, confirmed by mri, that it is chronic pancreatitis, and fatty liver.
Avatar n tn Hypoglycemia and diabetes are two different conditions. I will share with you my knowledge of both. Hypoglycemia occurs when a persons pancreas produces too much insulin and their blood sugar drops low enough to produce symptoms of a low blood sugar that may include shakiness, sweating or clammy feeling, or mental confusion. When this happens, glucose needs to be given to raise the blood sugar to a normal level.
Avatar f tn I'm not familiar with bariatric surgery and how many calories you should have each day; you really should talk to your doctor about that. 500 calories just doesn't seem like nearly enough for an adult woman. That's more like a starvation diet. I've read that with bariatric surgery, you're supposed to eat quite a few, very small meals/day, so you don't stretch the stomach again. Is that what you're doing?
Avatar f tn The memory loss is definitely not related to her gallbladder removal. This may very well be caused by the diabetes problems. The brain relies on glucose for a variety of it's functioning. So both hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia can present brain issues, including memory loss. But the vomiting maybe a sign that her recovery from her recent surgery hasn't gone quite right. Please see her doctor asap and touch base with both issues. Hope she starts feeling better.
Avatar f tn Im also eating normal.. Weight loss for some woman is normal because of the removal of the cyst and also because you just had a major surgery and your body is going through so many things... Bloating is also normal my obgyn said it sould go down in a couple of weeks... Do you guys have shoulder pain after open surgery..?
Avatar m tn All you can do now is treat the neuropathy and control your blood sugar with a combination of weight loss, exercise, lowering carb intake and oral meds or insulin as prescribed by your doctor.
1571533 tn?1322943509 now my dr thinks that i have hypoglycemia and that the surgeon shouldnt have ever done the durgery bc it wasnt the cause of my headaches... anyone been through anything like this??
Avatar n tn If you are thinking of liposuction, this surgery is not designed for weight loss, but rather body contouring. If you are thinking of gastric bypass surgery, then you should consult with a bariatric surgeon. The cheapest, least risky, and healthiest technique for weight loss is to take in less calories than you expend, i.e. proper diet and exercise. Fad diets do not work - ask any registered nutritionist. If you need help, then organizations like Weight Watchers are a good place to start.
