Avatar m tn Rapid diagnosis and management are important, since recent treatment modalities including vasoconstrictor therapy can improve short-term outcome and buy time for liver transplantation, which can result in complete recovery.” https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.
Avatar n tn In the past week when he tests his blood at bedtime it is in the normal range - he eats his bedtime snack and takes his usual dose of Novarapid and the NPH insulin. Within a half hour or so, she notices his abnormal behaviour and urges him to re-test. His blood sugar level is less than 2. She is concerned because he had a normal reading less than an hour before and eaten his normal snack - but what could be causing his sugars to be so low at this time?
Avatar f tn I also had a mild degree of burning pain in my left armpit and down the inside of this arm and generally felt unwell and anxious . I went to hospital the next day . ecg was normal but my Troponin i level was mildly elevated at 0.75 . The 99th percentile limit for this test at this hospital is 0.4 (verified by my GP) My question is can extreme stress cause this marker to be elevated without underlying cardiac disease.

Avatar m tn Hi Kelley. I'm so sorry to hear about your little boxer. Pancreatitis is a terrible disease for dogs (and people) to endure. If your vet hasn't yet performed an ultrasound, that will be the next step. They'll need to check to see how swollen the pancreas is, if there is something like a tumor or pseudo-cyst, or even a birth defect causing the trouble. It's even possible there is something blocking the pancreatitic or common bile duct at the root of the problem.
Avatar n tn Type 2 diabetes is most often diagnosed in adulthood, but there has been an increase in children and adolescents now being diagnosed. The sedentary life-style and increase in obesity has led to this increase in both children and adults. Nearly one third of the 16 millions Americans with Type 2 diabetes do not know that they have it. There are approximately 16 million more Americans with "pre-Type 2".
Avatar n tn This type of hypoglycemia does not lead to diabetes.
Avatar f tn Been told today at my midwife appointment I have group b strep! Been told I will be on antibiotics throughout labour, anyone been through this?
Avatar f tn Indeed, acinetobacter infections have been identified in hospitalized patients and health care related outbreaks especially in critically ill patients receiving invasive medical interventions such as central lines, arterial lines, and mechanical ventilation . And in recent years, like methyl resistant staph aureaus, this group of microorganism has been increasingly recognized as a significant healthcare-associated, opportunistic, multidrug-resistant pathogen.
1330108 tn?1333677304  Both will be available for very low birth weight infants and other seriously ill babies in the neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) across the United States.  While a mother’s breast milk can provide a large percentage of her premature baby’s needs, premature infants need more protein and calories than are naturally occurring in mother’s milk.
Avatar n tn She spills ketones and we have Hashimotos, Addisons, Type II Diabetes and Pituitary tumors in our family and all came back normal (clean MRI of brain and pituitary). This roller coaster is scary for all involved and it seems the information is so limited for this age group. The lowest my daughter has gone is low 30s and each time it seems to go lower faster.
Avatar m tn Subsequent monthly tests have revealed trace, small and now large units of blood in his urine. His thyroid test came back critically low and we made an appt with an endocrinologist. His primary doctor said to cancel this appt because the thyroid test was sub clinical (?). His erythrocyte dist width in his blood work is also low (11.7). He also has a high erythrocytes count in his urine of 32 as of 20 Feb. He is tired and nauseated most days and has lost 15 pounds in three months.
Avatar m tn s worth, my grandfather had a quad bypass at 84 and did great. He was in great shape and breezed through it and it extended his life another 13 years. He too was very active and quite strong so it was an option and we're all glad he did. Good luck to you and her!

946578 tn?1258663287 It was positive for the SOD,had a sphincterotomy, and then was still having pain ,went back and on an old MRI they noticed I had Pancreas Divisim and put a stent in. Well here I am still in pain and no answers. I feel your pain. My understanding is that SOD can be fixed but most of the time is only a temporary fix. Had problems with my blood sugar dropping way before any of these issues started, so not sure what that may be about.
1773104 tn?1314155711 Certainly hypoglycemia can trigger anxiety and panic, but rarely would it be the sole cause behind it. It is common for someone new to anxiety to do serious soul searching to try and find a logical "reason" behind the new emergence of anxiety and panic. We turn into detectives and try to find a sensible reason why it showed up (most times seemingly "out of the blue").
Avatar f tn What is the best, cheapest and most available treatments for hep c, and from your experience how bad off are you if the virus is affecting your blood sugar?
1852495 tn?1319545790 Or it’s a sensitivity to gluten, so you stop eating bread. But you still get ill, and blame food poisoning, or “bad food” or “stress”. Whatever food is making you feel “ill,” you’ve been unable to adjust your diet to feel better. 2/.Do your hands shake after meals? Two hours after meals? Three hours after meals? Trembling, shaking, cold hands/feet, and a cold nose can all be signs of low blood sugar.
Avatar n tn Without insulin, these sugars build up in the bloodstream and the person becomes ill. In Hypoglycemia, the pancreas makes too MUCH insulin at times, and this overdose of insulin, if you will, causes the symptoms you describe. You will find that eating something that has some carbohydrates in it will make you feel better quicker than something that is low in carbohydrates when you feel this way. Many people exeperience this and there can be many causes.

Avatar f tn I thought I had adrenal insufficiency. BUT My A.M. cortisol level was way too high and was having awful hypoglycemic symptoms. Doc put me om Metformin because it helps regulate glucose levels. I want to address the adrenal problem as well. Wondering if taking Seriphos would cause an interaction.
Avatar n tn Hello. I'm not a medical professional, just the parent of a kid with diabetes. As a fasting blood glucose result, 80 is on the low end of the ok range, but it is in the ok range. If your daughter will develop diabetes, or just hypoglycemia, there is nothing known that you can do to prevent it. You can keep your family, daughter included, more healthy through exercise and a better diet with more fruits and grains, for example, but that won't stop hypoglycemia in your daughter.
Avatar n tn If this is indeed caused by hypoglycemia, he should feel and react better in about 15-30 minutes if he has been given enough juice. If not low when these episodes occur, he could be suffering from mini-strokes and should be checked out by his doctor before the situation gets serious. My own father-in-law has had several of these mini-strokes, and they do cause temporary brain malfunction without visible damage. Medication can prevent a serious stroke from following an episode like this.
