Hypoglycemia and low blood pressure

Common Questions and Answers about Hypoglycemia and low blood pressure

hypoglycemia

Avatar n tn Low blood sugars can be VERY scary and hard to deal with. You may want to talk to your Dr. about getting a prescription and training as to how to use a Glucophage kit. This is essentially a large dose of sugar in the form of a shot to use in severe low blood sugar situations. Also you will need to have those around you trained in its use as well in case you can not get food and sugar fast enough on your own.
Avatar n tn You need to get examined to rule out a few things such as low blood pressure, postural hypotension (fall in blood pressure, cervical spinal nerve compression, hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), severe anemia, an underactive thyroid (called hypothyroidism), overactive thyroid (called hyperthyroidism), adrenal insufficiency (called Addison's disease), GERD or gastric reflux, and internal ear infections. Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. Take care!
1346429 tn?1303874854 I can no longer take my heart meds for high blood pressure and irregular hb; topomax for migraines; metaphormin; and a few others. Which I quit taking some of my meds before pregnancy because I did a lifestyle change in which it helped enough that I could quit taking the extra meds. As far as C-section...both my boys were early but big because of the diabetes (not gestational) and I could not have them natually so this is another C-section baby.
Avatar n tn Today about 20 minutes after my lunch I started sweating, feeling weak, heart racing, etc. I checked my blood sugar and it was 71 after eating a chicken salad, salad. I checked it before eating and it was 77 so why would it go down after eating a salad and a few wheat crackers? 71 is normal but again I felt horrible, weak, shaky, anxiety, etc. Could this be something other than Hypoglycemia? Before I had lunch I ran 2.5 miles on the treatmill and felt fine so this is beginning to puzzle me.
Avatar n tn If your blood glucose was 61 an hour or two after breakfast, especially if your breakfast was fairly high carb (such as cereal, bread, etc) you might have a specific type of hypoglycemia called reactive hypoglycemia which is people who have low blood sugar after a meal high in carbs. I would suggest seeing your doctor and getting tested to see what type of hypoglycemia you have and to make sure you aren't pre-diabetes.
Avatar n tn I know many people who suffer from hypoglycemia, and some who even will completely pass out if glucose gets low. That is rare, for in most cases, the person feels crummy for a while, but the body eventually regulates the sugar levels. During a hypo episode (as a type 1 diabetic, of course I have occasionally overdosed by accident when my insulin didn't properly match the food carbs I ate), the eyes feel dry and vision CAN change temporarily.
784382 tn?1376931040 it can be due to high blood pressure, low blood pressure including bleeding disorders causing anemia, heart diseases like arrhythmias, attack, cardiomyopathy, medications like blood pressure drugs , antidepressants, metabolic disorders like hypoxia, hypoglycemia, dehydration. in women, internal bleeding or hemorrhage, anemia, infections, endocrine disease like thyroid, pituitary gland and adrenals, allergies may cause wheezing, low blood pressure, can trigger sinusitis and resulting dizziness.
Avatar f tn Though not the typical symptoms of hypoglycemia; similar symptoms could also be caused due to autonomic disturbances, blood pressure issues, hormonal/ endocrine abnormalities etc. I would suggest considering a detailed evaluation by a primary care physician initially and depending on the cause diagnosed/ suspected, it can be managed accordingly or specialist care may be sought. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
Avatar n tn It is usually controlled with a change in eating habits (only high protein/fat food at night, no carbs after 6 PM) and often Chromium picolinate, a metabolic and blood sugar regulator, is recommended. In severe cases, the carbohydrate intake is limited to just vegetable and gluten-containing foods (potatoes, wheat, oatmeal, etc) are severely restricted or eliminated all together.
Avatar n tn Hi, I'm new to the site and have found it extremely helpful. I have had Type I diabetes for 10 years now, and have never come across something so useful before. Keep up the great work^^ Onto my question. A couple of weeks ago, I was taken to the hospital by ambulance secondary to a "low blood sugar seizure." I have no recollection of a four hour period before I went to sleep, and then 3 hours after I was found seizing and taken to the emergency room.
956433 tn?1255977108 just wanted to kno if anyone on this forum is dealing with hypoglycemia along with there anxiety..i have had the low blood sugar since im 15( im 21 now)..and i know if i don't eat right and take care of it it can make you feel dizzy, lightheaded, tremors and what not..and now that i have anxiety iv noticed alot of the symptoms mimic each other..also i have always been really thin..
Avatar m tn ve tried to stop cold-turkey, I often have episodes of low blood sugar (shakes, sweats, confusion), so I end up back drinking sodas for fear of having another episode. I am guessing that I have been drinking sodas for so long that my body has increased the insulin production to keep up and if I stop, I have all that extra insulin in my body which causes the low blood sugar. Is there a way to ween myself off of sodas without worrying about having a hypoglycemic episode?
Avatar n tn Recently he was back in the ER after having a severe fainting spell from low blood pressure and hypoglycemia. He was feeling the afib that morning but it was gone when the paramedics checked his heartrate. His pituitary tumor was not visible on the catscan in the ER this time (they compared it to the one from 3 years back). They sent him home from ER with normal xray of his heart and all his bloodwork comes back within normal range from recent dr. visits except low vitamin D.
Avatar n tn I also have low blood pressure which complicates the issue. When my sugar levels drop my blood pressure follows suit and I get to the point of passing out. I haven't seen a doctor, but I've been reading articles that lead me to believe that I may be pre-diabetic. The only thing is I don't understand how you can go from having low blood sugar to being a diabeitc. I thought diabetics had too much sugar in their blood stream.
Avatar f tn also have someone check ur blood pressure immediately when u wake up and randomly at different times. any dizziness? am thinking lungs or ur heart is the cause.
Tbd I get dizzy when it's too low and too high. When it's too high I also get nauseous though.
Avatar f tn It could be hypoglycemia. I was getting spells that's sound like yours almost every day after working or exercising. I would get very faint, hands would shake, really hot and sweaty, my vision got blurry and I felt really really hungry. After eating something I would feel better about 20 minutes later. It got really bad tho where I literally had to stuff my face with whatever I could find to eat because waiting 20 minutes wasn't an option for me cuz it felt so scary and bad.
1778927 tn?1381878747 There are actually two types of hypoglycemia, one is known as drug-related hypoglycemia and happens almost exclusively in diabetics and the second is called non-drug-related hypoglycemia and can be further divided into FASTING hypoglycemia, in which hypoglycemia occurs after NOT eating, and reactive hypoglycemia, in which hypoglycemia occurs as a reaction TO eating, usually of carbohydrates.
646318 tn?1261181494 I am 30 and have had Hep C for 12-15 years. My blood pressure has always been low or normal (and high blood pressure runs in my family). My blood sugar, however, has been ridiculous. I have really annoying hypoglycemia and problems with candida because of it. I am a healthy eater, I exercise and I am not overweight. I also don't eat breads or pastas, so its not like I load up on carbs every day. I am hoping after treatment this will get better.
Avatar f tn I do suffer from Chronic fatique syndrome, low blood pressure and occasional anxiety. Thankyou for your time.
1211508 tn?1343079605 Feeling light headed and weak can be due to several causes like acute temporary shortage of blood supply or oxygen to the brain, dehydration, low blood sugar, low blood pressure, panic attacks, anaemia.Serious conditions like heart attack, stroke and shock can also cause these feelings. Getting up suddenly from lying down position can also cause lightheadedness.
