Avatar f tn This can be due to overproduction of insulin, certain disorders of the adrenal glands and the pituitary gland, liver and kidney disease, and certain medications. The way to begin to treat your hypoglycemia is to work with your doctor to find the underlying cause. Treating the cause will help to treat the hypoglycemia. I hope this helps.
1034736 tn?1319559035 Increased insulin levels can cause hypoglycemia. Excessive alcohol intake, hepatitis, kidney disease, certain medications, disorders of adrenal gland etc can all cause hypoglycemia. It can also be caused by poor eating patterns. Rarely is it caused by insulin secreting tumors called insulinomas. These can secrete huge amounts of insulin after food and a person can suffer from hypoglycemia despite eating. You need to consult an endocrine specialist.

Avatar n tn It sounds like you have educated yourself on your disease (as we all must) enough to question your doctor. That is what you must do, and if you do not feel comfortable with any recommendation, seek another opinion and if necessary, find another endo.

1055725 tn?1265869375 m just going to speak to the symptoms you are experiencing and the possibility of hypoglycemia or diabetes. Hypoglycemia is one of the symptoms of diabetes and just means low blood sugar. Some people however, have a diagnosis of just hypoglycemia, without the diabetes. That is very different. Your symptoms might relate to either one, or they might not. Some other symptoms of diabetes are increased hunger and thirst. Some people however are diabetic without experiencing any symptoms at all.
Avatar n tn Initially my symptoms appeared to be urinary tract related with pain and discomfort on my left flank, lower back and left Kidney area as well as pelvic and lower abdominal pain and discomfort. After numerous scans(X-ray, CT scan with and w/o contrast, and ultrasound) and several lab tests to check for proper organ and metabolic function, the only finding was a simple cyst on my left Kidney and a calcification on my right Kidney.
Avatar n tn If you are on insulin your dosage may need adjusting. My son has type 1 diabetes and after a hypoglycemia episode suffered from very bad headaches. If you do not have diabetes you may want to look carefully at diet, sugar, starch, etc. They can have an effect. Since I am not a physician, I would strongly recommend to see a good endo and dietician who specialize in this area. If we can help further, please don'nt hesitate to contact us. Best of luck.
Avatar n tn I don't understand how alcohol can cause hypoglycemina in diabetics. It seems to me that it would cause hyperglycemia because of the sugar in the alcohol. I just heard a story of an adult who passed out twice because she had wine after taking insulin. Her blood sugar was 175 when she took her insulin and within 15 minutes she was passed out.
Avatar f tn I am 22 and have just found out I have kidney disease. I do not want to tell my family, because I know they wouldn't deal with it very well. Is it likely to be easy keeping this from them (I live with them)? I am considering not receiving any treament for now to make extra certain family don't find out.
1204020 tn?1493698890 He sometimes gets really high blood pressure, to the point where his face turns red and he gets a bad headache, and sometimes he gets extreme hypoglycemia with this, too, and needs to get some sugar. So, maybe it is something with your pituitary. Cushing's (high cortisol) disease can also cause high blood pressure. Mononucleosis (EBV) could cause dizziness and nausea, along with fatigue, swollen lymph nodes, sometimes cold symptoms like a sore throat. Goodluck!
