Common Questions and Answers about Hypoglycemia and fruit

hypoglycemia

6918915 tn?1395932871 I suddenly get very light headed, dizzy, anxious, hot, sweaty and STARVING. I think this is hypoglycemia but not totally sure and I'm going to ask my doctor on Monday at my appt. It happened here and there a few weeks ago but now it's been happening every day and its awful. I end up literally stuffing my face with anything I can find that has sugar because my body feels like that's my only instinct. Then after like 20 minutes of eating and putting my head down I feel better.
Avatar f tn Eat a healthy breakfast with slow release energy goods like porridge, egg on brown bread toast, wheetabix with soft fruit and milk, shredded wheat with milk and soft fruit, home made porridge made with milk or water with some cinnamon and a few raisins. Two hours later, have a healthy snack - a piece of fruit, celery with peanut butter, a handful of nuts, a yogurt (read the label for sugar and fat content) - "low" does not necessarily mean healthy.
Avatar f tn My diet is constant snacks like yogurt, almonds, cottage cheese, veggies and very little fruit because that spikes my sugar and then it drops, chicken, lean beef and I love beans on salads and things. I want to see results so badly!
Avatar n tn His fasting blood was 88, his next count after drinking the sugary liquid was 102, his next two were 69 and 61. It seems like he has hypoglycemia. He was told he has pre-diabetes and given a prescription for metformin 500 mg to take once a day for a week and to increase by a pill a day/week until he would be taking 4 pills/day within a month. Everything I have read says that this is given for high blood sugar. He is also very underweight.
Avatar f tn I would suggest making sure you have at least six meals a day and purchase healthy filling snacks. Most fruit are like drinking glasses of water so that wont work, however if you are into trail mix or something i would suggest making your own with dried fruit roasted almonds or sunflowerseeds, or peanuts, and semi-sweet chocolate chips. Something like that will be more filling and last a while. After mixing it put it in small zip lock bags.
1770925 tn?1365618522 I have hypoglycemia for years and I don't eat sugary foods or fried foods. I eat small meals 6 times a day. Fruit and vegetables and soy products. Just fish etc. I am just saying that small meals often is the way to go with hypoglycemia. This eating regime helps my sugar stay level and not low, but if I stress the sugar drops and ginger helps me. I am not on any medication. See your Dr for advice.
Avatar f tn Well, my last test showed by levels were back to normal, yet my fatigue remains, so does the insomnia and depression (for which I take anti-depressants). My weight gain continues and I suffer from reactive hypoglycemia - yet it seems inconsistent. I track my food daily and often eating similar foods on consecutive days - most of the time I'm ok, then I can repeat a meal and have an attack. Don't understand why.
10161345 tn?1488138652 I've had hypoglycemia most of my life and crohn's disease for all of it (though only diagnosed a few years ago), so I've always had to be kind of careful. I was wondering if anyone else had experience with restrictive diets and hypoglycemia during pregnancy? At 27 weeks I'm struggling to keep my blood sugar up/stable between what foods are and aren't recommended during pregnancy combined with what my flare-prevention diet allows.
Avatar m tn I apologize if I have. Apparently you are not a diabetic and this is hypoglycemia. Ppl with hypoglycemia (which is low blood sugar but not diabetes) can "faint" when their glucose becomes too low. One of my parents and a good friend have hypoglycemia. They just needs to eat frequently. Both can feel when their glucose level drops. They become lightheaded, sometimes nauseated and dizzy. Neither have had any major problems associated with the hypoglycemia.
Avatar f tn At the time I was in super shape but had a lot of hypoglycemia crises, and I have had hypoglycemia here and there since then. So I have a hard time understanding how I could pass this test now that I am pregnant and quite sedentary?? My test is going to be repeated in 2 weeks at 28 weeks and we'll see if I pass or fail.
1991526 tn?1327610038 try to eat a lot of whole grains, fruit, veggies and protein and stay far away from white bread, white rice, etc. when u have dizzy spells drink a good organic juice nothing with added sugar and stay away from anything sugary in general. my doctor told me its normal when ur pregnant to have low blood sugar anyway so people with hypoglycemia will react much worse and when u eat/drink anything with a lot of sugar your sugar will spike real high and then drop real low and you will feel worse.
1771184 tn?1314037179 s when blood sugar goes up and down and it needs monitoring by the Doctor at intervals ,,if you had a bloodtest and it was a bit low it tells me that you do need to eat properly, and in fact mom is right, although a bowl of Cereal in the morns and some toast /yoghourt may help . Eat at regular intervals don't go hours without food , breakfast then a mid day healthy snack , small meals at regular intervals does help .
Avatar m tn I eat what I want but its all in calorie intake and carbs ( I thought), not a lot of pasta lots of salad garden variety fruit blueberries apples and oranges, do have hamburgers and pizza in moderation. Iam not good at tracking my blood sugar thinking my a1c is in good shape (last one was 5.
Avatar f tn Without proper testing results one assumption is you experienced reactive hypoglycemia. Reactive hypoglycemia [or alimentary hypoglycemia] is low glucose [blood sugar] that occurs after a meal — usually one to three hours after eating. Try the following: • Eat several small meals and snacks throughout the day, no more than three hours apart. • Eat a well-balanced diet including lean and nonmeat sources of protein and high-fiber foods including whole grains, fruit and vegetables.
Avatar n tn i have been more and more experiencing shaky spells and feeling faint... then i will eat a ...piece of fruit, or something, and a warm calming sensation comes over my body and i feel find. my family history indicatets thyroid problems, but my last t test came back normal, do people with hypoglycemea get diabetes later in life?
1208118 tn?1265877425 This can be managed with medications and quick fixed foods such as honey, candy, milk, regular softdrinks, and fruit juice. Take care and best regards.
Avatar f tn I asked my dr yesterday about getting shaky between meals if it had been a few hours since i had eaten anything and her response was that it sounded like hypoglycemia..she told me to stay away from sugar, sweets, fruit juices, cokes, etc. And to eat something high protein every 2 hours. Isnt this what they tell you when you are diabetic? And is there anything i can use for sweetener that will be ok?!
709686 tn?1277432159 Your symptoms suggest not diabetes, but hypoglycemia, except for the joint and muscle pain, at least I never had the joint and muscle pain.
Avatar m tn I' am not a diabetic; I' am a hypoglycemic and everyday I experience fasting hypoglycemia upon waking. My morning blood glucose is between 25-30mg/dL and I always feel like crap, I only experience reactive adrenergic symptoms like, moderate hypertension, sweating, arrhythmia, headache, lightheadedness, shaking and nausea during the episode.
Avatar f tn Last night I had to go to the er because my sugar dropped to 63 and they diagnosed it as hypoglycemia...
Avatar n tn Is this considered Hypoglycemia even though BS is 114 and if not why does he recover after an increase is sugar., and what can it be?
Avatar f tn With a low carb diet like you're eating, I wouldn't expect your blood glucose levels to go any higher than they are. A meal of red meat and veggies, with only 2 bites of roasted potato won't increase blood glucose levels like bread, fruits and other simple carbs do and since you aren't increasing your blood glucose levels, neither will you be spiking your insulin levels all that much.
18878484 tn?1469186437 Start the morning with a glass of fresh squeezed fruit and vegetable juice to sip on along with warm quinoa, a protein grain and milk topped with dried fruit and nuts. Smoothies make a great breakfast or dessert; Just toss ice with Greek yogurt, almonds, bananas, dark leafy greens, ground flax seeds and strawberries for a protein-packed drink. Make your omelet with a side of cottage cheese and fresh fruit like cantaloupe, mango, strawberries and blueberries.
1773104 tn?1314155711 Certainly hypoglycemia can trigger anxiety and panic, but rarely would it be the sole cause behind it. It is common for someone new to anxiety to do serious soul searching to try and find a logical "reason" behind the new emergence of anxiety and panic. We turn into detectives and try to find a sensible reason why it showed up (most times seemingly "out of the blue").
Avatar n tn Eat only protein, vegetables, and only small amounts of fruit (not on an empty stomach), preferably fruit with fiber, such as apples with the skin, berries, etc. Do not eat white flour, white rice, dried fruit, fruit juice, soda, or anything else with sugar. Don't even have any of it in the house, as it will be too hard to resist it. You will go through sugar withdrawal for a couple of days, but within a week, you will notice how much better you feel.
