Hydrocodone with acetaminophen

Common Questions and Answers about Hydrocodone with acetaminophen

It doesn't help much, but again I'm concerned about my liver. My doctor refuses to put me on hydrocodone with a lower dose of acetaminophen. I've been on this medication for 10 years-again, rarely even taking 1 full pill a day. It is hard, because I make myself suffer through the pain in order to keep my liver going. I don't have an addictive personality and throughout the course of this, I have not formed an addiction to the pain medication (which I find a blessing).
If you have any impairment of your liver, the recommended max amount of acetaminophen is only 2000mg. There used to be hydrocodone with ibuprofen....I think it was called Vicoprofen. Also, oxycodone IS available with aspirin, under the name Percodan. Obviously, if someone cannot take NSAIDs or aspirin, these would not be appropriate. And in most states, Percodan cannot be called in to a pharmacy. The original prescription must be presented at the pharmacy.
It is available in combination with other ingredients, usually with acetaminophen for pain relief. I am not sure what kind of pain you are being treated and which trimester you are in. Hydrocodone/acetaminophen combination is in Pregnancy Category C, which means there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women, and it's safety is not conclusive. The benefit in using hydrocodone/acetaminophen needs to outweigh the risks of taking it.
The concern of the Hydrocodone is the dosage of the Acetaminophen (Tylenol). My Acetaminophen in the Hydrocodone that I take is at 325mg per tablet and my Physician is comfortable with that dose. Again, it's not the milligrams of the Hydrocodone that is of concern, it's the milligrams of the Acetaminophen (Tylenol). I am sorry to hear that you will have pain for years with the diagnosis of Fibromyalgia.
5/10 mg hydrocodone and 325/500mg acetaminophen. There are other drugs prescribed for pain but hydrocodone is commen. Also you didn't say how long you've been taking them? That will make a difference in your recovery. Some more details can be helpful for forum members to help you out. Welcome!
Physical dependence, potential psychological dependence, possible liver toxicity (because it is usually combined with acetaminophen, which at high levels is toxic). There are also potential side effects which are mainly gastrointestinal.
In my opinion, most of the responsibility lays with the medical professionals, not with the patient. I applaud the FDA for taking steps to curb hydrocodone abuse, but I also urge doctors to only prescribe these drugs in the most necessary circumstances. Many people fighting hydrocodone dependency may feel helpless, but I assure them, they're not.
if you're wondering why/how I could take the hydrocodone with the subs well... I didn't--- For those two days I took only the hydrocodone and .
I have been prescribed hydrocodone/acetaminophen 7.5/750. I usually break them in half or take 1 throughout the day as prescribed but have been told to take two in severe instances and did so before going to sleep tonight. At one point I woke up and was in pain and took two more without thinking or realizing that it hadn't been much more than an hour. Within an hour the pain was gone but I have been awake ever since with worry over taking so much acetaminophen.
I have no problem not drinking, but I take norco on a regular basis for chronic pain and I'm concerned that the acetaminophen in the norco's will combine with the isoniazid and cause severe liver damage. Thus, as of yet I havent begun taking the antibiotics. Obviously, I need to begin the treatment asap but I've been on the pain medicine for 7 yrs and to stop now would result in awful withdrawal, not to mention the issue of daily pain.
patient also presented AVM's in the sigmoid colon, and recent imaging uncovered suspected diverticulitis /colitis, believed responsible for a condition of chronic anemia which evaded detection by both repeated upper and lower endoscopic procedures and cam swallow studys Could the administration of Hydrocodone/APAP 5/500 in three doses totaling 1500mg acetaminophen coconmittantly with Decadron and Primidone possibly result in acute liver failure in a patient presenting this history?
Wow,, I never knew it tylenol stayed in a persons body for 24 hrs. I have been taking Vicodin ES (I am sure you know this but 7.5 hydrocodone/750 acetaminophen) for a root canal 2 every 4 hrs, but was told by my dentist to take an extra strength tylenol with it TOO for added comfort. I asked (I have seen the recent tylenol commercials) if that would cause liver damage and she said only if taken for a long time. I have been taking it for about 2 weeks that way.. Should I be worried???
Who knows how long i would have gone around being sick if i did not have it checked out in my case the problem can be corrected with time staying away from apap and sugery but that had nothing to do with the amount of apap i took. i just have to becarful dot to take it now ...plz get your info from a doctor .
acetaminophen. That's right the same medicine sold separately as Tylenol is often combined with narcotics to make even more potent pain pills. But, as the Food and Drug Administration noted today, too much acetaminophen can ruin a person's liver. So the agency is asking makers of prescription drug combinations that contain acetaminophen to limit it to 325 milligrams per pill, capsule or slurp of liquid medicine a person might take.
Is hydrocodone mixed with anything else other than acetaminophen. Is tylenol the same thing?
For around a year I was addicted to pain medication and would take up to 12 hydrocodone which, along with the pain medication, also has a lot of acetaminophen. When taking 12 at a time every day or at least every 2 days for around 8 months to a year, that's a lot. I have a lot of pain in my abdominal area almost constantly and sometimes so extreme only a bath or a pain killer will do the trick and lately even that does not help.
There is no way you are going to get dope sick, not with percocet as a back. Then again how many perc's do you have, And what do you want to do ween down or just get through it until your next Dr visit, Which is it Picto?, Do you have enough perc's to last you until you see your doctor if you take 1 every 6-8 hrs. hours that's three a day. So, can it be done or do you need a different plan?
I discussed that with my doctor and he prescribed me hydrocodone 5mg3x daily. After taking it for a year that level of dose was not very effective anymore so of course I upped the level of tablets I took daily. After 3 years of taking it my doses were reaching 30mg at once which made the prescription run out way early so I resorted to finding the medicine anyway I could to get me to next refill.
The drugs most affected by this action are opioid pain relievers that are combined with acetaminophen like codeine (Tylenol #3), hydrocodone (Vicodin, Lortab) and oxycodone (Percocet). “FDA is taking this action to make prescription combination pain medications containing acetaminophen safer for patients to use,” said Sandra Kweder, M.D., deputy director of the Office of New Drugs in FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER).
I suffered from hydrocodone addiction for around three years when I was sent to jail and suffered through the horrible withdrawal. I have been back home for 8 months and again have started taking the pills for about a month off and on and the past week every day. Already I am having the withdraw symptoms. I didn't know it could happen this fast. When I was clean I told myself I would never take another loracet (hydrocodone) again. Now look at me.
You may probably be one of the rare ones who are extremely lucky to have only mild withdrawals. With Hydrocodone you should be way farther into some unpleasant symptoms by now and on top of that you are sleeping. That tells me you will probably get off lucky this time. I have not slept for 8 days before even on just hydrocodone! Even though it is easy this time you should never go back because it may not be so easy next time and that is also a poisonous dose of acetaminophen you were taking.
hello, i have always been allergic to acetaminophen( swelling with rashes all over body)..recently was diagnosed with ITP( thrombocytopenia)adviced to stop all NSAID's forever.ineed a D&C with hysteroscopy( for a possible polyp) with twilight anesthesia..yet to be scheduled..my gyn not called yet..what options do i have? i'm scared they would put me thru local anesthesia now b'coz of all this..my pain tolerance is almost zero..with so many complications no doc would ever want to take me in..
Usually doctors will tell you not to take additional acetaminophen in any form, nor should you combine drugs that have acetaminophen in them with over the counter drugs (for instance, tylenol and nyquil). You can safely take ibuprofen. Do you have an allergy or sensitivity to ibuprofen?
15 mg/80 mg hydrocodone/acetaminophen(paracetamol), 30 mg/80 mg hydrocodone/acetaminophen, and 45 mg/80 mg hydrocodone/acetaminophen per capsule: 5 mg/80 mg hydrocodone/acetaminophen, 10 mg/80 mg hydrocodone/acetaminophen, 15 mg/80 mg hydrocodone/acetaminophen, 10 mg/100 mg hydrocodone/acetaminophen, 15 mg/100 mg hydrocodone/acetaminophen, 10 mg/200 mg hydrocodone/acetaminophen, 15 mg/200 mg hydrocodone/acetaminophen, 5 mg/500 mg hydrocodone/acetaminophen, 10 mg/200 mg hydrocodone/ibuprofen, a
I am a long-term migraine sufferer and have been taking pain killers now for about two years (hydrocodone 5/500). A lot of the time I will take 1500 mgs of acetaminophen in one dose. Does anyone know if this will be detrimental to my liver? I never EVER exceed the 4000mg limit in 24 hours, but I will often take 6 pills in one day, that is 1500 mgs of acetaminophen, then 1500 mgs again twelve hours later if necessary. I am very strict about the time in between each dose.
Most on this forum recommend a liver enzyme blood work up when you have concerns and when you detox. And you are right - the acetaminophen dose is a huge concern with liver toxicity. Especially with the Brits and Canadians and folks that try and support a decent narcotic habit with 10mg codeine pills.
the 10(10mg hydrocodone) and the 325 is 325mg acetaminophen... and the rest is fillers. Only a small fraction of the snorted material goes towards your high, and the rest goes towards destroying your body. If you absolutely need to, extract! It's not as crazy as it sounds.. there isn't really a medical benefit to doing this, and because of it peaking levels in your body quicker..
10 mg Oxycontin 10mg and higher (Oxycodone with extended release or 12hr) and there are many others. Talk with your Doc. I believe you can get the Hydrocodone w/o the Tylenol, ask your Dr. Like Empathy said, you are not taking a large dose of Tylenol but if you are taking the pain medication long term then I would talk with your PCP on getting a pain reliever without the tylenol. I would not want to take Tylenol long term, I would be concerned about the liver at that point. Take care.....
I have been on HydroCodone-Acetaminophen 10-325 for about four months for severe back pain due to osteo-arthritis and bulging disks, etc. in my spine. I started out taking two pills a day - one in the a.m. and one in the p.m. I decided to reduce the dosage as I had a dreadful withdrawal about a year ago while on Oxycontin. Is it possible to feel symptoms after cutting out one pill a day?
