vicodin

Avatar f tn question: if 1 mg of suboxone is equal to 20-30 mgs of hydrocodone would that be the same for oxycontin would 1 mg of sub be equal to 20-30 mgs oxy then?
Avatar f tn hydrocodone or oxycodone? I have not heard good things about oxycodone, so I would be hesitant to try it but I am curious which works better for you. I want to be on the lowest dose possible (of whichever my doctor sees fit) that is sufficient enough to do everyday activities. Is there anything you have tried that you felt works for you that I should ask my doctor about?
Avatar f tn Percocet is the brand name of the generic drug oxycodone and acetaminophen and Vicodin is a brand name of the generic drug Hydrocodone and acetaminophen. Both oxycodone and Hydrocodone is a narcotic drug and are often used in combination with acetaminophen or APAP, a no steroidal anti inflammatory drug which helps in increasing their potency.
Avatar n tn Norco is better than most because it only has 325 of Tylenol Vs. 500 or 650. To my knowledge hydrocodone which is the narcotic agent in Norco (I take it too) does not come in a tablet all on it's own. In order to get rid of the Tylenol you have to move up to the drug oxycodone which is in drugs like Percocet they make oxycodone tabs without Tylenol. Question is why are you so worried about your liver? Is your liver already compromised?
Avatar m tn I had been on oxycodone and the new-oxy for about 12 years and this October 13th decided enough was enough. I too live in chronic pain, relatively high levels of pain which were there regardless of the medication. I have now been "off" all narcotic medications completely, for over a month....I did a weaning process which was still difficult, but necessary. Now it's a matter of getting my guts back in order. If I can do this, you too can do this. The support here is fantastic!
Avatar f tn Roxicodone and Percocet have the same narcotic - oxycodone. The difference between the Roxi and Perc is the Tylenol, which is found in the Percocet. Will the Perc work better? That depends on the person, honestly. They say coupling Tylenol with Oxy (or Hydrocodone) increases the effectiveness of the narcotic. Pharmacologically, I'm sure there is a valid reason to couple the two, but the reality is that i probably depends on the person using them. So your Perc 7.5/325 is 7.
Avatar m tn For instance, in my pain management book published in 2002, oxycodone and hydrocodone are equal in strength. Now we see a 2/3 conversion to oxycodone in most tables. I believe this is direct effect of biases against oxycodone that grew out of its abusive potential, and not its effective analgesia.
Avatar f tn One thing I have not see anyone say about the differences in hydrocodone and oxycodone is that hydrocodone is schedule III while oxycodone is a scheduled II......
Avatar m tn today and I have been perscribed hydrocodone in the past to treat chronic lumbosacral pain. How is Oxycodone 5mg compared to Hydrocodone? I take Hydrcodone 5/500 APAP. Is Oxycodone a good alternative to Hydrocodone? What are your experiences?
699217 tn?1323438700 I wanted to know what the difference is between hydrocodone and like-oxycontin or oxycodone, Percocet, tramadol, is this all just types of hydrocodone? All I ever took was hydrocodone....
356518 tn?1322263642 Oxycodone is cheaper and better for you than variations of hydrocodone, b/c oxycodone does not contain any aceteminophen. Oxycodone is also a stronger opiod than hydro's. In some places you can only get oxycodone IR in 5mg tabs. However, you can get regular oxycodone in strenghts of 5,10,15,and 30 mg. They are all very reasonably priced, it's just that the strengths of 10-30mg are not IR so it will take a little bit longer to get pain relief....
Avatar m tn Picking a well-tolerated opiate is usually a 'hit or miss' process. The differences in tolerability come from several factors. For example, for some opiates, the administered medication is a 'prodrug' that must be converted to the active drug by the liver; an example is the conversion of codeine to morphine, which is more efficient in some people than in others. There is also wide variation in the degree of nausea produced by different medications in different people.
Avatar m tn m really not sure of the exact conversion but I do know methadone is a good deal stronger than oxycodone. I do believe that it would be possible to take methadone with oxycodone for break-through pain if your doctor prescribes it at your next appt. One of our Community Leaders posted a medication conversion chart in her journal. It's handy for getting an idea of the equivalency of different pain meds.
Avatar f tn Sub w/drawals are MUCH stronger and totally synthetic...their half life is much longer than short acting hydrocodone/oxycodone. Just to give you an idea....1.2 mg of sub (bupe) = 30 mg of hydrocodone So if you are currently putting 16 mg of subs in your system...that would be equivalent to approx. 480 mg of hydrocodone!!!! Here's an equivalency chart I found when I was going thru a similar mess....maybe it will help you: http://www.medhelp.
590280 tn?1310087366 Percocet is Oxycodone and Vicodin ES is Hydrocodone.
Avatar f tn are just trademarked names for the generics (hydrocodone and oxycodone)...also, those opiates can be combined with other analgesics instead of tylenol....example, "Percodan" is oxycodone with aspirin. Sorry...hope I didn't confuse you...but while the drugs are very similar, and both strong opiates, there are a lot of differences, which people do not always realize.
403399 tn?1201833095 Hydrocodone (schedule III, in bulk formulations only containing hydrocodone its schedule II) is a opioid that is a mild potency opioid, in between codeine and oxycodone. Oxycodone (Percocet, Oxycontin, Tylox) is about 50% stronger than hydrocodone , where as hydrocodone is about 50% stronger than codeine.
Avatar f tn Oxycodone is sposedly a bit stronger than hydrocodone. I found the same thing tho...I got more of a jump start from hydros.
Avatar f tn The lowest amount of tylenol that I know of that comes with hydrocodone would be in Norco tablets. They contain 10mg of the hydrocodone and only 325mg of tylenol. Maybe talk to your doctor about switching you to oxycodone instead? Oxycodone comes in tablet form that's just pure oxycodone, it has no tylenol or acetaminophen in it at all. It's stronger than hydrocodone, too, so the 5mg tablet (the smallest one they make) might even work as well for you as the 7.5mg vicodin.
Avatar m tn ve been diagnosed with RSD and have been on Demerol, hydrocodone, oxycodone and Lyrica. After seeing what works and what doesn't, I am currently only taking the oxycodone(2-7.5 every 4-6 hrs) and Lyrica(3-75 mg a day). The side effects I'm experiencing are constipation and my libido is mia. I can deal with the constipation, but at 45 and married, the libido change has GOT to be corrected.
