Hydrocodone homatropine syrup

Common Questions and Answers about Hydrocodone homatropine syrup

vicodin

Avatar m tn Well, tussionex is part hydrocodone which is a semi-synthetic opioid and part chlorpheniramine which is a type of antihistamine. So some people can be more sensitive to the hydrocodone (vicadin) part of the cough syrup. It is a fairly addictive drug and some people have genetics (an enzyme called cpy 2d6) that increases the duration the hydrocodone is elevated in their blood. This leads to exaggerated effects or feeling of euphora and other symptoms.
Avatar n tn This cough syrup combines an anti-histamine (chlorpheniramine) with a codeine-like cough suppressant called hydrocodone. Tussionex stops coughing well, but it carries a risk of potential side effects, including drowsiness, constipation, lightheadedness, and vomiting. The hydrocodone component is also an addictive medication and should be used with caution.
Avatar m tn I was given hycodan (hydrocodone) cough syrup. A doctor told me to take it when I have trouble sleeping as well as when I have a bad cough. I have had it for about six weeks, and I take a single dose two, sometimes three nights a week. Is it possible to develop a dependency or addiction when you only take it three times a week for a couple of months?
3804392 tn?1404419858 this is the third time i got a uveitis in my left eye (i am hlab27+), earlier two times i was back home in my country (india) and doctor prescribed pred-forte+homatropine and it got cured in about a month. this time i am US and went to the doctor near to my place and she also gave the same stuff homatropine+predforte, i was carrying these two with me, but due to some insurance complication that in-network, out-network stuff had to consult another ophthalmologist.
Avatar m tn However, here is the problem - The dilating drops this new doctor used were not Tropicamide but Homatropine. I only found later on this forum that the effect of these particular drops can last upto a week. 1. It's been 2 days and still the near vision is not back to full (the drops have not worn off). I wear dark, UV tinted glasses when I go outside in the sunlight but sometimes the reflecting sunlight from cars and the street does go into my unprotected eye.

Avatar f tn I relapsed in Dec/Jan and it all started with bronchitis and a bottle of cough syrup with codeine (not even hydrocodone).. Good job on being honest with your idiot doctor.. now just pour it out and move on. No need to be worried or dwell at all.. Just be on your a-game cause chances are even a teaspoon will kick those cravings into overdrive so its best to not have it around.. good luck!
Avatar f tn All opiates/opioids are cough supressants. Promethazine cough syrup can be compounded with either hydrocodone or codeine. Taking an occasional Vicodin while on treatment is not drug abuse.
Avatar f tn Two weeks ago I have a severe sinus infection, the doctor prescribed some azithromycin, prednisone, and hydrocodone cough syrup, I only took the cough syrup twice, it was too strong and made me hallucinate. However, I now have a stiff neck that is extremely painful at times. It wakes me up in the middle of the night and I can't continue to stay in bed. Yet, when I get up and sit in the chair I am exhausted. The stiffness and pain is on the right side of my neck and head.
Avatar f tn I need some answers- I have been abusing Hycodan (Hydrocodone cough syrup) for several months now. I recieved the first prescripton a couple years ago and noticed that i liked it. I would get another Rx off and on for bronchitis or whatever, and during these times i would take more than i should at a time, but when i ran out i never had any w/d. Over the last 6 months or so i have had several refills and hardly went without the drug for more than a day.
674555 tn?1272600376 im a member on this site and my lil brother called me cause he was high and (because im in college he thought id know) me mixed hydrocodone (10mg) cough syrup and a tylenol 3 (30mg codeine) with a shot of vodka and i want to know if thats a dangerous mix after he did it of course ...i honestly dont know and was wondering if anyone does??
498159 tn?1209846182 hows it going, never been on this site before but i was wondering if anyone had any information that could help me with my addiction to cough syrup. i've been taking extreme amounts for about 3 of 4 years. I pretty much can't go a day with out taking it. Does anyone have any info or advice?
1196922 tn?1265100570 (2) I have had it for two weeks now, and with the Maxidex I am treating myself with a very outdated (2 years) eye dialator called isopto-homatropine 5%every other day? Can you make any recommendations! Thank you kindly for your help!!
Avatar n tn For OTC cough syrup, I use Delsym (Dextromethorphan polistirex) or Mucinex (Guaifenesin). I've never had a problem with either, and I'd consider myself fairly sensitive to cold medications. When I need the big guns, I get my PCP to prescribe Tussionex (chlorpheniramine and hydrocodone) aka. "Liquid Gold". I love this stuff. It's expensive, hence the name. But you WILL stop coughing, and you WILL sleep!
Avatar m tn Each teaspoonful (5 mL) of TUSSIONEX (hydrocodone and chlorpheniramine) Pennkinetic Extended-Release Suspension contains hydrocodone polistirex equivalent to 10 mg of hydrocodone bitartrate and chlorpheniramine polistirex equivalent to 8 mg of chlorpheniramine maleate. TUSSIONEX (hydrocodone and chlorpheniramine) Pennkinetic Extended- Release Suspension provides up to 12-hour relief per dose. Hydrocodone is a centrally-acting narcotic antitussive. Chlorpheniramine is an antihistamine.
Avatar m tn It makes it easy to exam the eyes since it is already dilated and it is supposed to decrease ciliary spasm. Years ago, I use homatropine which has a much shorter effect and usually stopped it in a week. I have not routinely used a post operative dilating drop after retina vitreous surgery for the past 10 years. In some cases I have put in atropine to have the eye dilated the next day for a quicker post operative visit.
406036 tn?1216188561 which has hydrocodone in it!!!! Now I have taken it for about 4 days...and I feel like everything i went through just went down the toliet...Ignorance is NOT BLISS!! I just want to know if I have to start all over again and if everything I went through was for nothing!?!?! THANX!!
Avatar f tn I am 7 weeks pregnant, and need some comfort from anyone with information on taking hydrocodone while pregnant. I am so scared for my baby. I have cut down to 1 and a half a day. But I keep seeing commercials of babies with birth defects and I don't want to ruin my baby's life. Please keep in mind I take this medication because I had several failed back surgeries..
Avatar f tn Also the type of drop used makes a huge difference. Neosynephrine and tropicamide wear off in 2- hrs in most every one. Cyclogel can last several days, homatropine almost a week and atropine over a week. For our patients that have this problem we us half the regular amount and we use only short acting neosynephrine and tropicamide.
Avatar f tn Why would my drug test show Hydrocodone? My husband is prescribed hydrocodone for arthritis. Could handling his meds somehow rub off on mine? I don't get it; but the clinic is threatening to drop me.
Avatar f tn It may be that you are on another drop like homatropine or cyclogyl that is causing the dilation. Also, it might just be part of the normal healing process. Please talk to your surgeon to see how you are doing. Good Luck.
Avatar f tn AND, I was given a Rx for Hycodan syrup, which, as we all know, has hydrocodone in it. But my husband gave it to me when I needed it, and I took it only as ordered. I flushed the rest of it. I still feel like I cheated, though. But, I'm getting past that. I know it's not abusing or cheating if you take a medication like it is ordered and if you REALLY need it. Anyway, I just wanted to check in. 121 days! Wow!
371980 tn?1276740809 Anyways I just went to take my cough medication he gave me and it contains Hydrocodone. What to do? I need some sort of relief and not to mention my 4 yr. old daughter is being admitted to the hospital tomorrow and coughing like this i am afraid they will not let me in the peds unit with her. She needs me to be well. I am not going to take it to get a buzz i need to take it to get a good night sleep and feel a little better tomorrow for her. Will this affect my clean time?
Avatar m tn I have had a pressure reading of 35 the wek after surgery. it was 22 last week. Dr. is hoping the steroid drop Homatropine & cutting down the antibiotoc drop Tobramycin will bring it down even more. I have had previous cataract surgeries in my late 40's then Retinal detachments ....[I have a wonderful Retina specialist at Baptist Eye Center, Little Rock, Ark]. Thank you for you concern & reply..deeply appreciated..
Avatar n tn I realise I am addicted to a cough syrup with hydrocodone(5mg per dose). I go through a 240mg bottle in 8-9 days. My problem is I have allergies of dust and mold that make me cough till I am exhausted or sinus drainage from these allegies that cause sinus infections that settle in my chest and it starts all over again. I take it as a maintenance to keep from all my symptoms coming to the uncontrollable cough to the tickle in my throat that drives me nuts.
401095 tn?1351391770 I take ambien to sleep and have never abused that in the past either....scared to take anything now...I also have polytussin cough syrup and we all know that has hydrocodone in it ....Last time I was out of pills(mind you "out of pills, not quit") for 2 months I took that 3 times a day and made it...but I know it is a substitute and the lortab will not leave my system if i take it to curb the WDs...should I trash it?
Avatar f tn A uveitis that severe you should also be using some sort of red top drop to keep your pupil dilated (atropine, homatropine or cyclogyl) 3. If you are no better after a weeks therapy your treatment needs stepped up perhaps oral steroids. 4. You also need a work up to determine why you have uveitis.
