not the test that 100% determines whether you have gout or not) of gout and gave me some anti-inflamatories and a pain killer (hydrocodone). This lessened the pain a bit, but not for long. After another week, it got worse again, this time with severe swelling across most of the top of my foot except for my toes. There is also a considerable amount of "redness" across the top. I've had no pain from my toes or the ball of foot, but pretty much everywhere else.
My husband came to me Sunday & informed me he was addicted to Hydrocodone. It was a slap in the face to me because I had NO idea. I noticed we had less money than we should but I never this never crossed my mind. He has Gout with severe pain. I knew the dr had been prescribing this to him but did not know he has been buying it illegally and is spending over $1000/month to get it. He wants to quit and wants to be completely clean from it. He wants to do it cold turkey.
I have been taking hydrocodone in varying amounts, and doses for about ten years now. mainly for gout and back pain. I had trouble getting my refill yesterday and it is 6 in the morning of my first day without in a long time. I don't know if they made a mistake or if they just decided I had had enough. if they did make a mistake and that scrpt is in the pharm in the morning it will pretty hard to resist filling it.
did dr rule out gout for the toe? because it sounds like that is what she is being treated for.
He gets 240 pills a month and usually runs out. The VA isnt doing anything for him. They called in gout at one point and put him on gout medicine and made me stop buying bologna, hot dogs, deli meats and my bf's favorite beef heart. This treatment did not help and a different VA doctor then said. "Its not gout" with a laugh and started taking x rays and MRI's and doing a bunch of different tests.
Started with a nagging ache and quickly turned into major pain between the shoulder blades and upper back. Again, Hydrocodone barely takes the edge off. Damn, I wish the back pain would just stop! Pain in right shoulder joint and both wrists. Not constant, just nagging sharp pains. Since I'm keeping track now, something that's been happening for a long time when I bend my knees too far and bend the ankles I have severe pain in them. My ankles have been stiff for a very long time.
This is when I noticed the swelling. I also take hydrocodone 10/325 for break thru pain and 70 mg of methadone for pain. Didrex to help lose weight. Currently I am enrolled in a program to have weight loss surgery. However, my thyroid is not regular so until my synthroid starts working & my thyroid is regular for six months the surgeon will not perfom the WLS. Please help! I am a widow & raising my 16 year old daughter.
The sun sometimes makes the pain a little less severe but never gone. I have taken Tramadol, hydrocodone, amitriptlyne, naproxen, flexoril, and lots of other meds. most of them just put me to sleep and I wake up in the same pain. I have had MRI's, X-rays, nerve conduction studies etc. I don't know what else to do or where else to go. Any suggestions?
Has anyone withdrawn from daily use of 15 to 20 ten mg of Hydrocodone cold turkey?
Last Sunday, I started feeling experiencing moderate aching in my neck, shoulders, back, hips, and knees, along with fatigue and mild headache, and thought I might be coming down with a flu. By Monday night, all the joint pain had moved down into my feet and ankles. By Tuesday night I could barely walk, the pain was so severe I could barely walk, when I went to bed, I started shaking with chills (although my temperature was normal, according to my thermometer).
my alt is out of range my ast=41. is my liver okay? i am currently taking allopurinol for gout and lisonipril for blood pressure. occasional hydrocodone for misc injury's and moderate drinker.
The strange thing is lately it seems to be worse on my left side. My left ankle, knee, wrist, and shoulder seem to be in constant pain. I take hydrocodone for the pain and it doesn't even take the edge off the left side. It takes care of my arthritis pain on the right side. I also have pain in my lower back and left hip occasionally. I've been tested for RA and gout and all that came back was that I have over 50% inflamation. I don't know what to do. Walking is almost impossible.

I also take Tramadol for the headaches when I get them, and hydrocodone for a total knee replacement that did not help at all. I am averaging at least one migraine a week, it seems the older i get the worse they get. The doctor told me today that usually the get better with age. all they can tell me is that the headaches are hereditary. My grandmother had them( my dad's mother) and my aunt and uncle get them also ( my dad's brother and sister).
SO chronic constipation with hemorrhoids that was a problem until the dr put me on colchesine, its for GOUT but the more pills you take the looser your stools get. I also have chronic pain from a shouler replacement , fibromyalgia & arthritsis everywhere. My origional DRs said to take fiber, and all it did was to bulk the stol up and then it would not come out. I was takng 4 stool softners minimum before I started the colchesine.
Lyrica, Cymbalta, .025 Mirapex, Imatrex, Lorazapan, Flexeral, and 750 mg Hydrocodone. I have had CAT scans, MRI's, more blood and urine work than I can count, and Spinal taps. I have been checked for Rhomotoid artheritis, Lupus, Mono, Gout, Wilsons disease, Hyper/Hypo Thyroidism, MS, fungus, parasites, bacteria, and every disease they can find in your spinal fluid, also muscle deteration, the results; I am a perfectly healthy non anemic, low cholesterol 40 year old woman who is falling apart.
PCP gave me some blood tests for gout, arthritis, diabetes, cholesterol, etc. all was normal. X-rays of the hips were also normal. Lumbar spine x-rays showed Pars Defect at L5 but no slippage. I treid two LESI and they did not help very much. About six weeks into the pain, it shifted to my feet where it has remained. If I am on my feet for a few minutes I encounter an excrutiating burning pain in the soles of my feet.
I go to accupuncture 2 days a weeks, take herbs and many doctor approved vitamins as well as very controlled doses of hydrocodone. Please someone give input. I think Neuro. Dr. thinks I'm crazy for not taking Lyrica. I am trying to let my body heal and prepare for beginning a family in the next year or so.
Always sharp pain in the upper center of my back , sharp pain when i move my head upwards or side to side, fatigued, bone popping , creeking in the back even got gout in my foot.I had these pains after waking up and feeling like a had a kink in my neck that lasted for weeks .I didn't seek treatment i just dealt with it and it seemed to decrease and went away for a few months, now after falling onto a concrete floor iam in pain all the time!!
i think you are adding up the mgs of the tylenol not the hydrocodone.. I was taking 8-10 10mgs vicodin a day for over 2 years.. that equals 80-100mgs I have now been off for over 4 months.. and I feel better. Taking the Darvoset will probably prolong the detox.. it would probably be best to just stop taking it.
of this year I started having severe pain in my hips and buttocks. PCP gave me some blood tests for gout, arthritis, diabetes, cholesterol, etc. all was normal. X-rays of the hips were also normal. Since you are suffering from pain specifically located at the joints, and it started after the flu, the pains are related to the viral infection.
Randy, I made it to the gym for my swimming just once on Saturday, it did feel good. Yet I have gout in my hips and have been wheelchair bound for a number of years. My new Dr. found that problem and had me mobile once again, ( well slightly I just had walked my first mile), that was a great move for me in a positive direction. I felt I had no need for this drug now as any Tylenol will do the trick for me until surgery. I was going to the gym for 60 min 5 days a week.
I feel your pain, I'm 17 days off of oxys and percs and right in the middle of CT, at the worst possible time, I got a flare up of gout that usually affects one of my feet but this time it spread to both of my feet leaving me bedridden. After days, I finally could not take the excruciating pain anymore and had to spend a few days in the hospital and i DIDN'T REFUSE the morphine when it was offered to me.
I am 59 years old, i started on vicoden 5/500 as needed for Gout. As with almost everyone i have read about it got out of hand. i am now taking 10-12 per day for a year or so. i want to get off and tried once but the coffee litters got to me they were really bad. i have read about subox as one way and valeum and cloradine as another way. the wd's is what scares me to death. I do have ins. and am about to call a doctor for counsltation.
No aspirin or ibuprofen because of bleeding. I developed gout and he prescribed vicodin which is hydrocodone and tylenol. I took a lot of them for a couple of months. Kinda got disappointed when my big toe didn't hurt. Must not be too bad, I cleared at 12 weeks and still clear 6 months post tx.
At first he thought old age had suddenly hit, or sudden attack of gout or arthritis. He went to to doctor, had x rays, no sign of arthritis, went to the chiropractor, he cant find any relif. He has been diagnosed with hep c about 14 years ago, but has mostly had few symptoms, mostly his biggest complaint, fatigue, but he has worked through it. His regular md prescribed vyvanse several years ago to get him off the couch.
Just because I don't use 10 ES's every day doesn't mean I'm not an addict. I believe I am. I have not been able to completely go without hydrocodone for any period longer than 4 months. I started liking Vicodin 10 years (maybe 11?) ago when a dentist gave it to me because I had 2 root canals. He refilled my script about 4 or 5 times, giving me 20 or 30 tab at a time. Then, he cut me off. I knew I liked it.
