My daughter for an arm break got down right loopy after some morphine.. It was amazing too watch. Me? Never. Drs never believe you either.

Avatar f tn As far as pain killers are concerned. All NSAID group of pain killers can produce kidney damage. Among NSAIDS drugs, low dose aspirin [40 mg] and sulindac are relatively safe and may be tried for pain relief temporarily. Discuss about these options with your primary doctor / urologist. You may try aspirin or sulindac, but I would prefer to treat the problem by surgical means than by medications. Hope that this information helps and hope that you will get better soon.
Avatar m tn I am a 68 year old male and I have had kidney stones since my first one in 87. That first stone was a beaut and required me going into the hospital to have it removed by the surgeon going in and getting it. Since then I have had quite a number of kidney stones and so many in fact, that about 7 years ago I stopped counting at #30.
Avatar m tn 2 days ago we ended up back in the ER because he was having pain for almost 12 hours with no relief. The hydrocodone he was prescribed does not help at all. They gave him dilaudid, which took the pain right away for about 12 hours, but it came back and lasted most of the day. That was yesterday and now today the same thing. Going on 12 hours of non stop pain.
Avatar f tn I am a 26 year old female and I have been dealing with kidney stones for the past 9 years. I pass atleast 2 stones every month. Recently, I had SEVERE pain in my left flank and went to the ER. Had a CT scan done and it showed I had several stones in both kidneys. I was given morphine at the hospital and vicodin to take home.
Avatar f tn or basically a kidney stone attack like pain that lasted no more than one day and the episodes of pain themselves were not as great as a real stone pain nor did they last near as long. I would strongly suggest that you consult your physician and apprise him/her of this situation and get their professional opinion. Good Luck and please let us know what you find out.
Avatar m tn Mayo Clinic was among the first medical centers in the United States to use shock waves for kidney stone treatment. During SWL, patients are either submerged in water or lie on a cushion. Patients receive sedatives, local or general anesthesia to alleviate pain. The shock waves pass through the body until they hit the kidney stones, causing the stones to break apart. The procedure usually takes 45 to 60 minutes. The sand-like particles that remain afterward are easily passed in the urine.
Avatar f tn For the record, I have lower back pain on my right side, but that's from kidney issues. I knew I had an 8mm stone in there, saw a urologist today about it...urinalysis also revealed high creatinine and a good deal of blood (no bacteria, so no infection)...so my kidney(s) aren't doing so well at the moment either. I'm only 26, shouldn't have these many problems and so much pain. My back is killing me today...
Avatar n tn Renal CT scan showed 1 mm stone in right kidney, 2 even smaller stones in left kidney. Was given hydrocodone for pain and phenagren in case pain meds cause nausea and told to see a urologist asap. My question is, if the stones are still in my kidneys how can they be causing all the lower abdominal pain and pressure. This pain is worse after I walk much, and when my bladder is getting full before I urinate. Urination does NOT hurt though. I have had no fever at all.
Avatar n tn Blockage of urine flow from the kidney due to pieces of stone. If this causes severe pain or blockage of the kidney, a tube may be placed through your back and into the kidney to keep the kidney drained until all the fragments pass out. Sometimes, a thin mesh tube called a stent is placed into the body (from the kidney to the bladder) before ESWL to prevent this from happening. A stent is usually put in the body after laser lithotripsy.
Avatar m tn I have had a continual sore left kidney for about three years when I lean back in a chair too long or sleep on my back many hours, I can feel the kidney is sore from that prolonged pressure.
900459 tn?1304993259 so i have been off the med for right at 9 days and now i feel like i have a UTI but i did a test and it said no so i am thinking i might have a kidney stone but my question is is this pain i am feeling just part of withdrawals and normal when getting off of hydrocodone?
Avatar m tn Right back pain could be caused by musculoskeletal issues as well as infection. If there is history of kidney stone and you are a stone former, kidney stone is also possible. Urine test may help determine the underlying cause. If it persists, it is best that you talk to your attending physician about this for proper management. Take care and hope all is well. Do keep us posted and best regards.
Avatar n tn By the way, I passed 6mm stone early this month ( before I passed the stone I got fever, chill and pain on my back ) and I though I won't have any pain no more but yesterday I start to have pain again when I passed the urine. Is it will always be like this?
Avatar f tn When you have a 5mm stone, it is my understanding as a non physician and just a plain old kidney stone sufferer for 30 plus years, that your kidney with the stone functions normally, unless the stone is blocking the flow of urine from that kidney, in which case that kidney swells up and the pain would be in the kidney with the stone.
Avatar n tn I was passing kidney stones at 19 weeks and 27 I was allowed to take hydrocodone as long as you don't take it every day, I took one each time to help with passing the stone, the baby will be fine, I was also in a car accident with my first at 35 weeks and was given pain meds through iv they said it would do the same to the baby make him sleepy
1736524 tn?1310745311 Hello, What you have described is the colicky pain of nephrolithiasis (kidney stone). It could have struck in the ureter also. I’ll suggest consulting a urologist for the same and seeking treatment depending on the size of the stone. If the size of the stone is small, it’s usually treated with ESWL in which shock waves are given from outside and stone breaks into small pieces. On the other hand, if the stone is quite big, then the surgical removal of the stone is a better option.
739632 tn?1454261272 I had my first stone last year. I didn't even know I had one until the intense pain sent me to the ER. Like others I got pain meds and a ct and told it was already in my ureter and it's 2mm. Didn't know what that meant of course. Was sent home with pain meds and passed a little bebe stone the next day and it was over. This time around it hasent been anything like the first. Had on and off dull pain since Xmas.
5739386 tn?1378836460 Went to the doctors about 45 min ago. Was having back pain and feeling sick dizzy and threw up. Well I'm at the hospital again second time in a week. And my doctor want to do a ultrasound on my kidneys to make sure I don't have a kidney stone. Any one have a kidney stone while pregnant. What happens?
Avatar n tn What medication has the urologist prescribed? Is this something to try and dissolve the stone, or for pain relief? I have come across 2 products, Renavive and StoneCLR that claim to dissolve all kidney stones, but I have never used these so don't know if they work or not. You can find information with regard to those products on the web. I presume you have another appointment booked to see your urologist, when he will no doubt do dye xrays to see what is happening with the stone.
Avatar m tn Dietary changes may help prevent kidney stone formation if you are prone for it. Prevention strategies for kidney stones include - Increasing your daily fluid intake, keeping the urine alkaline and taking medications like allopurinol, if the blood levels of uric acid are high. Increase your fluid intake to the point where your urine volume reaches 2.5 litres a day.
Avatar m tn Since the pain occurs on an off, could i be developing or having a stone someweher in the kidney or ureter??? Do i have to have RBC in urine to rule out that there is a stone... Please advise as this is a mental trauma until ruled out..
Avatar f tn My question is do any of you see a pain management dr for pain related to kidney stones? Ive gotten stones for the last 18 years but they used to come about anywhere from once or twice a year with one 3 year gap of no stones which was heavenly. Now since novemeber they seem to forming rapidly. Is this any indication that this may continue to be a frequent problem or could this just be a flukish year? My urologist doesn't seem to have any real idea so i was looking for personal experiences.
Avatar m tn hey i have a pain on my right side too. but my doc can't find out what it is.
