Avatar f tn Noah, Its Trigeminal Neuralgia. They need to start you on Tegretol. The reason the other meds didn't work is because it doesn't work for nerve pain. Hope you feel better.

2932946 tn?1344722012 m thankful for that. My doctor just tells me to take Tylenol or ibprofen first then resort to my pain meds if it doesn't go away. But i take up to 4 Tylenol or ibprofen at a time just about twice a day. usually lessens it but doesn't go away. I know its not good to take that much Tylenol, anyone else have any other options that help with their headaches?
Avatar f tn thank you....how about this killer headache and the root of all this stupidity... my back....any recommendations? 2 asprin do nothing - used to take up to 6 for pain relief thus the hydrocodone from the cancer doc...thinking i'll return to that routine (i don't think the asprin and the chemo mixed well) what is valerian? herbal? is Hylands a pretty common otc?
414490 tn?1202550861 I have chronic illness that makes it mecially neccessary for me to take Hydrocodone. I am not a drug addict because I take pain pills on a daily basis. I see people on here that say they take 1/2 of a 5/500 and I think to myslef WOW! These people must think people who take 6 daily as allowed and prescribed are real addicts.LOL!
Avatar m tn Believe it or not,,tylenol wd can also b a factor with Lortab wd, Lortab has 500 mgs of tylenol per tab be it 5, 7.5 or 10 mg of hydrocodone. Tylenol is bad for the liver, but so are all pain relievers OTC. Try some tylenol...and wait it out...10 mths is not a long time specially if u were using as prescribed....
798548 tn?1237503653 Is there really a need for Topamax still? I thought I was taking the Topamax for headaches, and now if the headache issues is resolved, then why keep taking the medication? Just wondering what everyone else is doing?
Avatar f tn I was given a perscription for Hydrocodone and was told to take that along with 4 ibuprophen. I was also given amitriptyline to take every day to prevent headaches. I see the neurologist tomorrow morning. Any advice would be helpful. I am to the point that I cannot stand this anymore the pain is so severe and it gets worse every time I get up and try to do anything. Thanks!
Avatar m tn Try taking an aspirin or Tylenol if you have any for the headache... I dont know, maybe its the website and reading about meds, and addicts that is making you a little more worried... I dont know... I feel bad!!!
2030686 tn?1351688548 I have been taking hydrocodone for multiple issues for almost 10 years. It doesn't seem to be helping much anymore and I need suggestions on something new to try. I don't want to go to percoset, because it works post surgery where morphine does not. Tramadol causes me to have seizures (they think) so it's off the table, and they gave me demerol for dental pain once but it did nothing. So I'm wondering if anybody has any suggestions on something new to try.
Avatar f tn Hello Lou, Welcome to MedHelp's Pain Management Forum. I understand your concern for your daughter. If you have done any reading you know that Fioricet contains a combination of acetaminophen, butalbital, and caffeine. Acetaminophen is a pain reliever and fever reducer. Butalbital is in a group of drugs called barbiturates. It relaxes muscle contractions usually involved in a tension headache. Why this physician has decided to prescribe this drug for your daughter CT is beyond me.
Avatar n tn After my first operation on my back, I stopped taking it after a week when I thought the pain was gone. I went into severe w/d for 36 hrs and suffered the next two months with nausea, headache, spasms & shakes and unable to sleep. Then I had surgery on my neck and despite my wishes, they gave me hydrocodone again.
Avatar n tn I have been taking hydrocodone 1-2 times a day for the past 6 days. I have stopped today and I've been getting flu-like symptoms. Runny nose, cough, headache, etc. How long will these withdrawal symptoms last and what can I do to alleviate them?
Avatar f tn Is the lab detecting minor amounts of hydrocodone -- then this is normal for codeine metabolism. But if it is detecting a therapeutic dose of hydrocodone, then its presence can't be due to the metabolism of codeine. Here's a reference for your doctor's use: http://www.wardelab.com/22-2.html#t1 I hope this helps. Best wishes with your pain management routine.
Avatar n tn I've been in severe pain for 15 years, and it keeps getting worse. My doctor put me on Hydrocodone 10/660 about 10 years ago, and it has worked wonders and kept my pain level down to a 2 (scale 1-10). Now, I'm told she can't prescribe it for me anymore, and has cut me back to 10-335. I feel like I've gone backwards in time. I'm back to soaking me feet in ice water, and coating my feet with Capazation, just for a little bit of temporary relief.
Avatar m tn t handle the energy drinks - that would sent me through the roof, but the main symptom you would suffer there would be headache from lack of caffeine. Take some ibuprofen for the back ache and headache, that should do you just fine. Best of luck - keep posting and let us know how you are doing.
Avatar n tn i have been taking hydrocodone 5/500 for almost three years andi go off them every summer and the only symptom i have ever had is a headache for a few days is this normal i take them for chronic pain
Avatar n tn What are the withdrawal symptoms from Hydrocodone and how long will they last? I've been taking 1 or 2 10-325s a day for about a year for knee pain and quit a few days ago. I'm suffering from nausea that lasts from the time I wake up in the morning until about 12:00 noon. And I still don't feel well even then. I would really appreciate this information, as I'm starting to think there is something seriously wrong with me. Thank you!
Avatar f tn I started going to a clinic 7 days ago to seek help for Hydrocodone withdrawals. I had been on Hydrocodone for about 4 years and my new Dr felt Methadone would help. Day one they gave me 30mg. I could not function and I was very sick, vomiting, etc. I told them that was too high that I wanted no more than 10-15 mg per day. I was a little shocked at their encouraging people to take high doses and increase 5 mg per day.
Avatar m tn Im a Fibromyalgia patient with severe body aches and pain bad enough for narcotic pain killers. I get urine drug tested every month when i go to get my prescriptions from a pain management clinic. I have tested positive for either Hydrocodone or Oxycontin the last 6 times I tested. I havent taken Hydrocodone in 5 years and Ive never taken Oxycontin. The dr doesnt believe me and Im probably gonna be released because of it. I cant make him believe me.
620048 tn?1358018235 m not clear on your reason for cutting back on pain pills. If you only want to decrease your daily acetaminophen intake to a safe level this will be fine. It does nothing more than that if you also intended to decrease your daily narcotic intake.
Avatar m tn The headaches seem to be worst when she wakes up, but on bad days the severe pain lasts all day. on good days her pain is a 1 or 2 but does not go away. The pain and numbness are localized to the left side of her face at or above the eye orbital. The numbness is general on the left side of the face while the pain typically has a smaller focus that varies, usually either the eye, above the eye, the ear, or in between the eye and the bridge of the nose.
Avatar f tn Prior to the onset of the the headaches, I was taking Hydrocodone (10/500) a couple of times a week for my neck, Chantix and Allie. A few weeks after the headaches started, I started taking Tylenol, Advil and Excederine to try and get rid of the headaches to no advail. All of these were listed on the paper that the neurologist's office mailed to me to fill out. They asked for all medications that I was taking at the time.
Avatar f tn Do you take any anti-depressants now? I wasn't depressed when I started the medicine, which I take for pain, but I'd rather be in pain then feel the way I do. I through the Hydrocodone away and told my doctor to never give it to me again. I am not craving it, I just wish my zoloft would work like it had, but now I don't know if I have just messed up my system for a while. Depression or pain - I'll take the pain.
203003 tn?1210855907 im very head strong, im not gonna be taking percocet everyday bc of a headache, its just this pain and pressure and nothing over the counter really works for me, i hate percocet actually my drug of choice was hydrocodone 10/325, so when i take a perk it doesnt phase me in the least, weird huh??? But I need the advice..I have a family party to go to today I cant be all in pain and **** with my head and its OUTSIDE! wonderful....
Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed with diffuse/poly-neuropathy. I am not a diabetic which is #1 cause. I am taking 5mg. of Hydrocodone every 4 hrs. for the pain and 300mg. of Neurontin every 8 hrs. This ritual has been since the diagnosis. The pain NEVER goes away, the meds only take the edge off, the point where I cry with pain. I called my neurologist about this and his assistant told me that he said I was addicted to the Hydro. He made NO suggestions as what else to do for the pain.
647120 tn?1256601651 When I started seeing a pain manager for chronic leg pain last fall, she said it was nerve pain without doing any diagnostics. She put me on morphine, and I've had ups and downs with it. Now I am considering going back to square one by weening off of morphine and seeing what my pain level is. It is almost a year since I had L4-5 spinal fusion, and I hate the side effects, costs, and stigma that go with taking this class of drugs. Has anyone tried this? What was your experience?
Avatar n tn Hi all, I am an 18 year old female (155lbs, 5'8"). I am currently embarking on my journey through my first year of college. Three weeks ago I had a migraine headache that woke me up in the middle of the night. It felt like someone was stabbing me in the right eye with an ice pick. The migraine was located on the right side of my head and remained unilateral (in terms of pain). This lasted for 3-4 hours.
