I've been taking hydrocodone for like 3 years now due to a car accident and I'm now breastfeeding my 2week old and the doc all say it's OK I'm wondering if any other mother's due to?

Theres nothing u can use for pain besides the meds they give you hun, thats if your breastfeeding. If not then i would think they prescribed you something semi strong? They should have. And just take advil or tylenol with it if u can and if your not breastfeeding.

I am going to try to wein myself down, I've already spoken to my doctor about lowering my intake. I am wondering what damage is already done to my fetus, or what damage will be done if I continue the 2-3 a day... Also, I plan on breastfeeding- can this be done if I am taking the meds??

Yes you can... and it hurts alot breastfeeding after the c section I tried 3 times with all 3 children and very painful hopefully you do better then me..

I am new and need to say this out loud and need someone who has been there to step up and support me. I had a baby about 8 months ago. I am breastfeeding since birth. I had the same fears but with my son 12 years ago my Dr actually made me take the hydrocodone because I kept ending up in the hospital with SEVER pain that kept causing preterm labor. Even while breastfeeding it scared me cause he would go to sleep before even switching breasts to get full. After talking to my Dr and a high risk specialist they both assured me the baby gets less than 20% of all the medication you ingest. They will not give you something that will harm you or the baby!!!

I have an appointment the 28th of April to see the surgeon. I'm going to hold off till then on the pain pills . But they get to where they don't do any good anyway and I would hate to go to anything stronger. I didn't really abuse the hydrocodone before according to the pain. The doctor always refilled them. I was clean from hydrocodone for 4 days and relapsed. I've been relapsing for the past 5 years. I can't stand that I was ever I introduced to hydrocodone! I am having a hard time getting older, and keep trying to blame it on pain pills holding me back. I have talked to my doctor and pharmacist about living without Hydrocodone... They both explain "quality of life" w/pain meds vs no pain meds... Hi . I have been taking hydrocodone pretty regularly for 2 years. Used to have 5mg/325 and take one or two per day. Then got a doc who prescribed 10/325 and have been taking 3-5 per day for maybe 3 months. I have 9 pills left and the doc has disappeared. I don't want to doc shop as I actually no longer need for pain. I recognize I have been using these to feel "normal".

I'm just finishing up day 11, after many years of hydrocodone use & abuse. It's much better now, though w/d aren't quite over yet. Judging from how I feel, I tend to believe Mike. I can say that in my case, after day 6 I could tell a difference. It won't get any worse, physically, and most folks say that day 5 was their turning point. You'll probably still "want". I have no notion of how long it takes to get over that hurdle.

Hydrocodone can act as both pain reliever and as mood elevator for you. 4 years ago I started hydrocodone / ib 7.5/200 3 times a day for pain caused by spinal stenosis. It helped allot but another side effect was relieving the moderate depression and anxiety I experienced for 20 years. Unfortunately anti depressants either don't work or have significant side effects.

Do you really think hydrocodone will relieve a migraine? Normally, that's not a substance that does well for that type of problem. I honestly couldn't say about withdrawals. Withdrawing yourself from taking more would be my greatest concern.
