Common Questions and Answers about Hydrocodone apap 5mg 500mg

vicodin

I have been taking hydrocodone for about 2 1/2 years at an increasing rate, ending up with the 7.5 strength and about 18-20 per day. I do have severe arthitis pain and am a 51 year old woman. I have to cut down and recently cut down to 10 a day and have experienced physical and emotional withdrawal symptoms. I have some clonidine and don't know how much to take for withdrawal. What is the recommended dosage.
just FYI, the pills you are taking are most likely 5mg hydrocodone and 500mg acetaminophen (Tylenol, APAP). my advice to you is to taper off. this will be the least painful method (although i wouldn't expect your withdrawal from 2-3 pills to be very harsh at all). if you don't think you can control yourself during the taper (tapering is HARD!) find a friend you trust, give them your pills and have them give you your daily ration every day. let's say you're taking 3 per day.
2 wont do anything to you. 1 vicodin has 500mg of acetominophen which is tylenol, and 5mg of hydrocodon which is an opiate. Your pretty much taking 1 pill of tylenol and 5 mg of hydrocodone when you pop 1 vicodin. Its almost no different from taking tylenol since the hydrocodone dose is so low. When i had my wisdom teeth pulled out i took about 8 every day. but i can take up to 15 vicodin and feel nothing, but thats my problem.
today and I have been perscribed hydrocodone in the past to treat chronic lumbosacral pain. How is Oxycodone 5mg compared to Hydrocodone? I take Hydrcodone 5/500 APAP. Is Oxycodone a good alternative to Hydrocodone? What are your experiences?
My question for you guys and girls is this... How do you think being on 1 5/500mg tablet of Hydrocodone per day in conjunction with the Nexium (Every day) will affect my liver/kidney in the long run? He has told me that such a small dose will NEVER cause me harm. Somehow, I am not addicted to the Lortab and it continues to take a very tiny edge off of the pain so I am able to sleep somewhat better - there are days when i may have to take two, but that might happen 3 times a year.
Hydrocodone/apap 5mg/500mg difference between this and Hydrocodon/Acetamnophen 10/325
I was prescribed Hydrocodone/APAP (10/500) in December 2011. Never took more than the prescribed amount (3x Daily). I am now in day 5 since I quit cold turkey. The first 2 days were rotten. My whole body felt achy. Mostly in my lower back. I couldn't fall asleep. I finally fell asleep on the evening of day 2 and slept a good solid 9 hours. (Something I haven't done in quite a while.) When I woke up on day 3 I felt as if I had energy to burn.
500mg of hydrocodone a day is one serious habit, cocobean. That's also 17,000 mg of APAP a day! I suppose with something this serious Suboxone can be considered--because thats the equivalent of probably 300-400mg of Oxy a day, which is Suboxone worthy for sure. Have you had tests to make sure your liver is okay?
I've been taking hydrocodone for the past five years, and at maximum prescribed levels (1-2 tablets every 4-6 hours - - which, naturally, means 2 every 4 hours) for the past two. How do I get off this stuff? Cold turkey? Phased withdrawal?
My brother is on welfare and the doctors at the clinic have given him the following meds. Tramadol 50 mg, Trazadone 50mg,Amitriptyline 10mg, cyclobenzaprine 10mg, Hydrocodone/APAP 5mg/500mg. In addition he was also given medication for Diabetes Type II, metformin 850 mg, glipizide 5mg, lisinopril 5 mg, simvastatin 20mg, Asprin 81 mg, Ranitidine 150 mg. Additionally he was also prescribed Naproxen 500mg and Alumina Magnesia 360 ml. I think this is too much medication. Any suggestions?
After Knee-joint replacement in September, I was given, among other meds, Hydrocodone/APAP 5mg/500mg tabs. Rater casual directions to take one or two every 4 to 6 hours as needed for pain. So I came down with an infection and among the medicine I am also taking is a cough syrup which wasn't covered by insurance, HIstinex HC, 2 tsp. by mouth 4 times daily. Ingredients are listed as:Phenylephrine,Chlorpheniramine and Hydrocodone.

They are all available with different amounts of tylenol but vicodin usually comes in 5mg hydrocodone/500mg tylenol or 7.5mg/750mg. Norcos are usually 10mg/325mg and lortab are available in a very wide range of hydro./acetaminophen(tylenol) combinations and some combined with asprin instead of tylenol. Liquids are available also.
When the medication amount says 5/500 that means 5mg is the hydro and 500mg is the acetomenophene. Usually with 5mg pills your prescribed 2 pills equaling 10mg hydro and 1,000mg apap every 4-8 hours depending on your DR's preference. When I first started taking them I had no idea what those numbers ment and always thought the same thing.

i posted a week ago I have been on norcos 10/325 (hydrocodone) for almost 3 years and i have been getting sharp pains in my sides possibly a sign of kidney damage from so much tylenol (i take 4 at a time now it has slowly increased over the years to now only 4 works) I want too be off of them and someone here suggested I talk to my doctor about tapering well i told him how I felt and hiow many I was taking at a time and about my worries for m y kidneys he said he was going to prescribe something
certainly better than I'm feeling lately. It's been 2 1/2 weeks since I stopped taking 5mg-500mg Hydrocodone/APAP (Vicodin) 4-8 tablets per day for the past 6 years. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Chronic Low Back Pain and a bunch of other medical issues that I've been dealing with for several years. Because of allergies and sensitivities to many medications, I pretty much ended up on Vicodin as a last resort.
My question is any ideas for controlling the pain, was taking 4 to 5 hydrocodone/apap 5mg/500mg a day for over a year (only thing that consitently worked). Since I cant see the doctor anymore no more prescription. Ive tried alot of other things, but any ideas would be apprciated. Thank you all.
I went and saw the dentist this last Monday, April 25th, and was put on 250mg Azithromycin Tablets and Hydrocodone/APAP 5mg/500mg Tabs.. Prior to seeing the dentist I had toothaches that caused migraines, loss of appetite, and an overall "ill" feeling.
Each vicodin has 5mg of hydrocodone and 500mg of acetaminophen. Each Norco has 10mg of hydrocodone and 325mg of acetaminophen. Taking these two drugs at the same time is the equivalent of double dosing on a single drug. You need to check with your doctor about which Rx he wants you to use. Acetaminophen dosage should not exceed 1Gm (1000mg every 6 hours). Until recently the acceptable maximum daily dose of acetaminophen was 4000mg.
He probably meant 5mg of hydrocodone with 500 of Acetaminophen........... There is no oxycodone in vicodin..........
I'm having a really tough time right now coming off this stuff...pretty much went from 6-8 tabs of Hydrocodone/APAP (5mg/500mg) daily down to none in the past 1 1/2 weeks...actually thinking I was going to be getting another refill so I could taper off a little more slowly, but my new doc here in AZ decided to leave me in a lurch with no advice or help what-so-ever.
Now my last dose was at 2am HALF of a hydrocodone 5mg/500mg and 1 butalbital.... Granted I did not want to get out of bed, not even to take my son to school BUT I still got up went to wake him, but he told me that his back hurt....(remember he broke his tailbone last week) so I let him stay home..... I have been in bed I open my eyes post here n then I just go back to sleep.

Oxycodone is supposed to be stronger than Hydrocodone I believe they are on different schedules on the prescription list. Hydrocodone is still very strong especially the 10mg the most used vicodin is 5mg. I am wondering why you posted here on an addiction forum. Do you need help with something? We all here are more than happy to help you if you need us just write.
Norco tablets contain 500mg of APAP, and 5mg (or 10 mg) of hydrocodone. In 12 Norco tablets there are 6 grams of APAP and 60 mg of hydrocodone. Research has shown that people who swallow more than 4g of APAP in a day tend to develop permanent, irreversible damage to liver cells.
hi there ... the 5/500 means 5mg of hydrocodone and 500mg of acetaminophen. 4000mg of acetaminophen should be the max a person should take in one day. Personally i wouldn't worry about being addicted to them if that is all that you are taking. Are you taking them for pain prescribed from your doctor? Hydrocodone/apap ( acetaminophen ) does sometimes make you sweat also, its one of the side effects of the drug.
