Avatar f tn i take lasix 80 mg daily ,i need to know if that will cause me to test negative for my norco 10s and my xanax on a random ua?
Avatar m tn It is a combination of Valsartan and the same diuretic as Hyzaar. It is essentially the same as Hyzaar which contains a combination of hydrochlorothiazide and losartan. Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic (water pill) that helps prevent your body from absorbing too much salt, which can cause fluid retention. Losartan is also in a group of drugs called angiotensin II receptor antagonists.
Avatar f tn Do tinnitis and migraines often go together? Would hydrochlorothiazide be causing my ringing ears? I suffer with migraines with PMS and if I eat something with MSG.
574118 tn?1305135284 My mother 58 years old was very slim at her youth. In recent years she became very obese. Being not a doctor, yet i suspected problems with her heart or some water retention.i.e. kidney issues. A few weeks ago she traveled to Europe and caught pneumonia due to hard weather conditions. But that was not a curse since coming back we did x-rays and she got rid of the effusion in lungs and is recovering. Yet the x-rays showed the leftlobe bigger meaning some swelling in the heart.
471949 tn?1236904026 I'm not taking a "potassium sparing" med but take Lasix (water pill) for high BP and therefore have to take a prescription Potassium pill along with it. BTW, I forgot to mention this "Potassium Pill" the other day when momto3 asked what type of meds we are taking and what the side effects etc.
Avatar n tn What is the correct lasix dosage for a 75 pound doberman pincher? He has congestion from an enlarged heart (dilated cardiomyopathy -DCM ) and is taking two 5mg tablets of Vetmedin (Pimobendan) 2x daily and 20mg Benaepril once daily. Any suggestions regarding treatment? We spent much $ and lost 2 loved dobies several years ago (and nearly did him) before our recent discovery of DCM-- which seems to kill most dobies.
Avatar n tn Yestersday, the vet prescribed very mild dosage of lasix for my dog and should I start giving her lasix now or should I wait till her steriod to wear off ( when she stop shivering and panting)? Vet is afraid lasix may cause her pancreatitise to come back again if given larger dose. When dogs are given lasix does it means the pet do not live that long? Please advise. Thank you for helping.
Avatar f tn There are always the associated risks of the bypass, and cross clamping of the aorta, which include stroke, distal embolism, kidney damage, etc, and although these are higher in 80 years old they should not be any higher in the re operation versus the first surgery.
408795 tn?1324935675 ve been prescribed lasix and spironolactone and it helps but it only helps to get me to go to the bathroom more I don't really think it minimizes the swelling. Anyways I have two questions for y'all as I know there's at least two other ppl on this forum who take these direutics. 1. What if the Lasix stops working, is there another direutic I can take that you know about? 2.
Avatar n tn My MD put me on Hyzaar for hypertension. Previously I had been on Cozaar but she changed it to Hyzaar for the added benefit of the diuretic. I noticed my drug company autosubbed generic Losortan. The bottle doesn't say anything about hydrochlorothiazide being included. Could I be getting the wrong thing, or should I assume some form of hydrochlorothiazide is included?
Avatar n tn I have been taking Lisinopril and Hydrochlorothiazide (HTCZ) for high blood pressure since May 2007. Recently I have a feeling that the Hydrochlorothiazide is not working as it used to be. Will HCTZ lose its effectiveness after a certain number of years? Anyone know the answer or having similar experience, please let me know. Thank You In Advance For Your Reply.
Avatar m tn I AM TAKING HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE 25MG. I HAVE BEEN TAKEN THEM FOR 3 YRS NOW. THIS MEDICATION JUST STOP WORKING. MY DOCTOR WANTS TO ADD ANOTHER MEDICATION FOR ME TO TAKE. DOES THIS EVER GET BETTER. STAYS THE SAME OR DO THE MEDICATION YOU ARE TAKE ALWAYS GET ADJUSTED. UNTIL YOU ARE TAKEN 10 DIFFERENT MEDICATION. This discussion is related to <a href='/posts/show/251929'>blood presure medication</a>.
Avatar f tn I'm presently on atenolol 40 mg (along with hydrochlorothiazide) once daily. I will be transitioning to propanolol 20 mg (and hydrochlorothiazide) twice daily soon - my doctor wants me to transition by taking propanolol - 1/2 of 20 mg twice a day for one week and then the full 20 mg twice daily. Why? Won't that cause rebound hypertension? Thanks.
Avatar m tn As usual Drnee has provided an excellent survey of the situation. I would suggest that the word "fluid retention", in the form of lymphatic liquid, rather than water retention, might give a clearer idea of what is happening. Simple gravity is causing the fluid to accumulate in the lower extremities. The compensatory mechanisms to (a) eliminate the fluid from the body and (b) pump it upwards from the legs, are not working well.
Avatar m tn Hello, I was having the numbness and tingling while taking hydrochlorothiazide. I would stop taking it and the numbness/tingle would go away, take it again, and it would come right back. Not sure if he is taking hydrochlorothiazide. They had me on it for edema. I have swelling in my hands and ankles, all tests neg except for CMV. Battling this since April 2008. Hands so swollen, can't open bottles, hold a pen, hold a phone or peel the label off the top of yogurts..ect..
Avatar f tn In my case, they started me out on 40 mg. of lasix, 25 mg. Coreg 2x day, 90 mg. Diltiazem 2 x per day. I am now taking 140 mg. of lasix per day, the Coreg and 90 mg of the Diltiazem 3 x days, along with several other medications that have been prescribed along the way. What can happen if the medication isn't taken everyday is that the lungs can fill up with fluid and cause a mad dash to the hospital for breathing therapy or fluid removal, or both.
Avatar f tn I am so confused because I have too many issues that can cause the same symptoms. Recently, my doctor switched me from Valsartan HCTZ to Hydrochlorothiazide plus regular Valsartan for my blood pressure. When I first started it, right away I was having rapid heart beat and shortness of breath so he told me take potassium supplements. That did help but now I am wondering if I am taking too much potassium.
Avatar m tn If you are allergic to ethacrynic acid can you be allergic to Lasix? Symptoms are bad taste in mouth when eating and can't eat as well as some abdominal pain at times. My mother went through this last year when placed on Ethacrnic acid and when taken off appetite came back. She had lost over 20 lbs. Now she is on Lasix since Nov and having same symptoms. She is also allergic to sulfa.
Avatar n tn His anemia could be due to fluid retention/edema - is he on a water pill like Lasix (hydrochlorothiazide)?? All these things can affect his overall heart function and therefor overall health. Does he still have AF?? Only patients who have a history of a coagulopothy or who are in dysrrhythmia (AF) should be treated with coumadin. For example, when someones atria is fibrillating stagnant blood can form a clot (due to the quivering and its slow flow - its no longer dynamic).
Avatar n tn However, this could also be due to some medications such as the combination of lisinopril and hydrochlorothiazide that is used to treat high blood pressure. Lisinopril is in a group of drugs called angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) while Hydrochlorothiazide is in a class of diuretics. Tingling in the hands and feet along with dizziness, headache and cough are some of the effects that are observed in this drug combination.
Avatar f tn My cat was diagnosed with impaired renal function (stage II) and was put on a fluid therapy on saline 0,9% and Lasix. As a result of the use of lasix, the vet suspects she has became severely hypokalemic and she will be placed on potassium supplement therapy once her blood work is confirmed which unfortunately may take another 12 hours. At the moment she is lethargic, has no appetite and unable to walk around but at least she is alive.
1668318 tn?1306416764 Hi weighing yourself and getting on a diuretic is not testing you. Did she run tests? Do you know??
Avatar n tn He has a pacemaker/defibulator. One of his meds are Lasix 10mg daily. He went for a checkup recently (not his regular cardiologist) and had a chest x-ray done. Results showed some fluid. He was told to double up on his Lasix. What could be causing this fluid build up and is it safe to increase Lasix? My concern is that he saw his regular cardiologist approx 1 month ago.
Avatar n tn accidents are more likely to be due to Lasix. It takes about 30 minutes to one hour for lasix to act, especially with subsequent doses the time is about 30 minutes or less. This urgency to pass urine after Lasix also depends on the fluids consumed in the hours before the tablet, and amount of displaced fluid in the body. The action varies from individuals to individuals.
Avatar n tn lasix can most definately cause dehydration!
Avatar m tn How soon can I resume her Lasix pill (if she will take it) after having received the Lasix injection?
