Avatar n tn However, this could also be due to some medications such as the combination of lisinopril and hydrochlorothiazide that is used to treat high blood pressure. Lisinopril is in a group of drugs called angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) while Hydrochlorothiazide is in a class of diuretics. Tingling in the hands and feet along with dizziness, headache and cough are some of the effects that are observed in this drug combination.
Avatar n tn I have been taking Lisinopril and Hydrochlorothiazide (HTCZ) for high blood pressure since May 2007. Recently I have a feeling that the Hydrochlorothiazide is not working as it used to be. Will HCTZ lose its effectiveness after a certain number of years? Anyone know the answer or having similar experience, please let me know. Thank You In Advance For Your Reply.
Avatar f tn Looking for good new...found out I am pregnant and am taking Lisinopril 10mg. Does anyone have any experience with this?
Avatar f tn What questions should I ask re what type of blood pressure medication I should be on? I tried benicar and lisinopril and caused sinus drainage - however, they worked Then tried hydrochlorothiazide which cause major constipation .... Now on amlopidine beselate and coreq cr and have fatigue....seems the latter meds are overkill as I had only one coronary stent over 10 hrs ago and cardiologist a few weeks ago said my heart is fine.
1398693 tn?1343684738 Thank you so much for the information I knew that there are medications that didn't deplete potassium but I couldn't find which ones. right now I'm taking hydrochlorothiazide and Lisinopril and when I started to take the hydrochlorothiazide I kept ending up in the hospital because my potassium level kept dropping mainly because I have had some problems with diarrhea so no matter how much potassium rich foods I hate I couldn't keep my potassium level any higher than 3.
Avatar n tn Hi. I have had high blood pressure for years. Like really high -- 190+over 90 very often. So I'm working on taking medication but I have a question about amlodipine. I start with Lisinopril 40mg, but my doctor added amlodipine. It helps but my ankles and legs swell up really bad. Thoughts or suggestions would be helpful. thanks.
Avatar f tn I've never had a history of high blood pressure until recently after a sudden death in the family. I've been put in Lisinopril 10 mg for one week and now on Lisinopril 10mg with Hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) 12.5 because it wasn't dropping as low as the PCM wanted (128/90s). I've read a lot of horror stories of HCTZ causing severe visual problems such as closed-angle glaucoma and other vision losses. Has anyone experienced this with BP medications such as the one mentioned?
Avatar m tn About 3 years ago my husband was on lisinopril and hydrochlorothiazide. After taking it for approx. 6 months, he crashed and had to be rushed to the ER with extremely low potassium levels. The doctor who had prescribed the lisinopril had told him to stay away from high potassium foods, or supplements, which he did, and when he went down he was extremely weak, was power vomiting all over the place, and lost the better part of his vision.
Avatar n tn I went back one week later and it had risen to 175/106 and my heartbeat was still rapid. The doctor put me on 20 mg of lisinopril and 12.5mgmyl of hydrochlorothiazide. He also ran an EKG, chest xray and blood work, all of which came back normal except they described the EKG as borderline (but they didn't say what that meant). I then had an echocardiogram, which they said the results were normal for someone with an elevated blood pressure (but they didn't explainn what that meant).
1355431 tn?1369975306 Im really worried about my husband he is 35 years old and he is on 4 different blood pressure meds. He is on Lisinopril 10mg , Atenolol 50mg, Hydrochlorothiazide 25mg and Amlodipine 10 mg. Even with all theese meds his blood pressure is still way to high! It seems every doctor visit they add more meds. Ok I guess my question is, is it nessasary to be on 4 different blood pressure meds and is it safe? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
941525 tn?1245298724 That gives you two different drugs in one pill. Lisinopril and hydrochlorothiazide are in the Zestoretic. I don't know if that would be what's best for you, but it might help with the prescripton limitations?
Avatar n tn I'm a 41 yr old female, 5'3", 130lbs and recently had a abnormal echo stress test. I then had a left catherization done and was diagnosed with "hypertensive heart disease with diastolic dysfunction". I am on Lisinopril/Hydrochlorothiazide meds of which I take 1/2 tablet of a 12.5 mg tablet daily.
Avatar f tn Generally Lisinopril is the drug that causes a cough. Losartan does not usually cause problems. Lisinopril sometimes agravates asthma because it seems to cause relaxation of the esophageal musculature, causing acid to flow upwards at night when you lie down, that in turn, migrates to the trachea. You should report the side effect on the FDA site.
Avatar m tn m on lisinopril, hydrochlorothiazide and propanalol. I have sudden onset of fatigue with nausea and dizziness so I'm now taking promethazone. I'm also taking a low dosage (2mg) of steroids (dexamethasone). I have terrible memory problems and my brain is like a slug (I had an IQ of 143, but I think I've lost it). My biggest question, is what in the heck is a lymphoepithelial tangle and is it related to lymphoma?
Avatar f tn 4% of total HgB Triglycerides 184 mg/dL HDL 36 mg/dL He is currently takes levothyroxine 150 mcg for hypothyroidism (TSH was 16.42 in April 2009), lisinopril and hydrochlorothyazide for high BP, 81mg Aspirin 1 x day, multivitamin, and Advair 2 x day. His test results in April 2009 were (I'll just post the out of range results) A1c not done at this time. Not sure if he was fasting for this either. TSH 16.42 Calcium 10.
Avatar m tn I have been taking 40 mg lisinopril for 3 months. It works on my BP but I am coughing and my nose is running.
Avatar n tn My MD put me on Hyzaar for hypertension. Previously I had been on Cozaar but she changed it to Hyzaar for the added benefit of the diuretic. I noticed my drug company autosubbed generic Losortan. The bottle doesn't say anything about hydrochlorothiazide being included. Could I be getting the wrong thing, or should I assume some form of hydrochlorothiazide is included?
Avatar m tn I AM TAKING HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE 25MG. I HAVE BEEN TAKEN THEM FOR 3 YRS NOW. THIS MEDICATION JUST STOP WORKING. MY DOCTOR WANTS TO ADD ANOTHER MEDICATION FOR ME TO TAKE. DOES THIS EVER GET BETTER. STAYS THE SAME OR DO THE MEDICATION YOU ARE TAKE ALWAYS GET ADJUSTED. UNTIL YOU ARE TAKEN 10 DIFFERENT MEDICATION. This discussion is related to blood presure medication.
Avatar f tn I have primary hypertension despite a low-sodium diet and Lisinopril (I was prescribed hydrochlorothiazide but due to my IBS-D I ended up dehydrated and requiring FRT in the ED). Due to my HR being chronically low, I'm not a good candidate for beta blockers so I'm on Lisinopril which just can't seem to manage my BP. My average resting heart rate is 48!
Avatar f tn I'm presently on atenolol 40 mg (along with hydrochlorothiazide) once daily. I will be transitioning to propanolol 20 mg (and hydrochlorothiazide) twice daily soon - my doctor wants me to transition by taking propanolol - 1/2 of 20 mg twice a day for one week and then the full 20 mg twice daily. Why? Won't that cause rebound hypertension? Thanks.
Avatar m tn Hello, I was having the numbness and tingling while taking hydrochlorothiazide. I would stop taking it and the numbness/tingle would go away, take it again, and it would come right back. Not sure if he is taking hydrochlorothiazide. They had me on it for edema. I have swelling in my hands and ankles, all tests neg except for CMV. Battling this since April 2008. Hands so swollen, can't open bottles, hold a pen, hold a phone or peel the label off the top of yogurts..ect..
Avatar f tn I am so confused because I have too many issues that can cause the same symptoms. Recently, my doctor switched me from Valsartan HCTZ to Hydrochlorothiazide plus regular Valsartan for my blood pressure. When I first started it, right away I was having rapid heart beat and shortness of breath so he told me take potassium supplements. That did help but now I am wondering if I am taking too much potassium.
Avatar n tn 20 mg in 7 am , and 20 mg Lisinopril in 7 pm (so total = 40 mg Lisinopril per day). During the day (systolic) hypertension goes 150-160 mmHg and only in 2-4pm it is 130 mmHg (and at 10-12 pm). What should be done for this patient. Maybe trying a diuretic (hydrochlorthiazid) and lowering the dose of Lisinopril? Please tell what do you think of the doses to start trying, how often and when during the day? (P.S.
Avatar m tn I went to my doctor one day after stepping on a nail at work to get a tetanus shot as I was required to, well he noticed I had high blood pressure (159/101) and I told him it does run in my family, he prescribed me Lisinopril with hydrochlorothiazide, so I start taking it and started monitoring my BP. For 2-3 weeks I felt okay my BP was in the 110/70 range and I hardly ever felt PVC/PAC’s anymore.
Avatar f tn ) and Prozac, 2 20 mg. Also taking HBP med/Lisinopril and Hydrochlorothiazide 20/25mg. Have been on these meds for over 2 months, but heart racing feeling since last week. Doc said BP was good, and my heart sounded perfectly fine. Suggested I see an Endocrinologist, because my do is older and male, and said he does not work with Menopause symptoms! He has given me Biest 2.5/Progest 50mg. that did not work for me. It was as if my symptoms became worse.
