Avatar f tn Your medications generally do not cause diabetes. The hydrochlorothiazide in Dyazide can increase blood sugar levels in diabetics. Other risk factors for diabetes include advancing age, body weight and lack of exercise. If not already doing so, try some lifestyle modifications such as exercising regularly, eating few carbohydrates and sugars, and avoid smoking.
Avatar f tn All tests says I am not having a heart attack, but with my blood pressure being high it is making my left side of my heart to struggle and causing my heart walls to thicken.. That is why I am having chest pains. My other systems are, numbing in my left arm, pain in my left jaw and some pain in my back. My doctors continue to readjust my blood pressure medicine and says this should work… It has been a week since I was released from the hospital. The adjusting of my medicine is not working..
Avatar f tn I do have shortness of breath that internist says may be related to high blood pressure, and cardiologist says may be related to mild sleep apnea (5 is normal and mine is 7)...I need a milder blood pressure med that does not fatigue me. I am 72 yr old female. Any suggestions?

Avatar f tn around 80 - 90), and also put me on hydrochlorothiazide for water retention. Is this high of blood pressure and pulse normal because of my pcos? I am overweight, 230 lbs, 5' 7". But I walk 2 1/2 miles 3 to 5 days a wk. I have retained water for years, which i always figured was from my pcos. No one in my family has bp problems. I take 2000 mg a day of metformin. I have also been having hot flashes with sweating.
1553775 tn?1325182402 I am really skeptical about taking this medication, or any medication for that matter. I am 21 years old and I cannot figure out why my blood pressure is high in the first place. I do have a lot of anxiety problems and I wonder if that contributes to it. I also take Paxil for my anxiety and I have been told that can cause high blood pressure.
1398693 tn?1343684738 Just wanted to let you know that I saw my doctor and instead of changing it he says that the hydrochlorothiazide is too high and lowered it to 12.5mg he says that my BP is getting to low and that becoming hypokalemic ( Low Potassium ) might be because the hydrochlorothiazide is to high so he cut my dosage down. Also another small note I re-read the information on kidney damage and a GFR of 60 is borderline but I still have to be carefull that it doesn't get any lower so far they're ok.
Avatar m tn The doctor gave Losartan Potassium and Hydrochlorothiazide Tablets. The blood pressure is then controlled to 107~135 mmHg(high pressure) / 65~80 mmHg(low pressure). In 2015: My mother suddenly felt dizzy and she was found that her blood pressure jumped to 80~90 mmHg(high pressure) / 50 mmHg(low pressure). Then the doctor asked her to stop taking any blood pressure control medicine. Her heart is examined OK. What is the reason that blood pressure jumps from high to low?
1355431 tn?1369975306 Im really worried about my husband he is 35 years old and he is on 4 different blood pressure meds. He is on Lisinopril 10mg , Atenolol 50mg, Hydrochlorothiazide 25mg and Amlodipine 10 mg. Even with all theese meds his blood pressure is still way to high! It seems every doctor visit they add more meds. Ok I guess my question is, is it nessasary to be on 4 different blood pressure meds and is it safe? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar m tn Combining these medications may significantly increase the blood levels and effects of silodosin. This may cause blood pressure to fall excessively and heart rate to increase, especially when you rise from a sitting or lying position. The risk of other side effects such as dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, headache, flushing, nasal congestion, heart palpitations, and priapism (prolonged and painful erection unrelated to sexual activity) may also increase.
Avatar n tn I have been taking Lisinopril and Hydrochlorothiazide (HTCZ) for high blood pressure since May 2007. Recently I have a feeling that the Hydrochlorothiazide is not working as it used to be. Will HCTZ lose its effectiveness after a certain number of years? Anyone know the answer or having similar experience, please let me know. Thank You In Advance For Your Reply.
Avatar n tn However, this could also be due to some medications such as the combination of lisinopril and hydrochlorothiazide that is used to treat high blood pressure. Lisinopril is in a group of drugs called angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) while Hydrochlorothiazide is in a class of diuretics. Tingling in the hands and feet along with dizziness, headache and cough are some of the effects that are observed in this drug combination.
Avatar m tn You should check out with your physician to evaluate other causes of raised blood pressure. Also blood test for high cholesterol levels and blood sugar levels should be done. 478554 tn?1208034407 ability to retain water. This reduces the volume of the blood, decreasing blood return to the heart and thus cardiac output and, by other mechanisms, is believed to lower peripheral vascular resistance. Hydrochlorothiazide is sold both as a generic drug and under a large number of brand names, including Apo-Hydro, Aquazide H, Dichlotride, Hydrodiuril, HydroSaluric, Microzide, Esidrex, and Oretic. http://en.wikipedia.
Avatar n tn 8 hours later we took him to the health department and they checked his sugar (by drawing blood from his arm) and it was 112 and they said he wasn't diabetic and that the finger ***** test wasn't very accurate. They thought that the seizure caused his sugar to go up. The last time he had ate anything was 12 hours before the seizure.
Avatar f tn This would involve evaluation of c-peptide, antibodies, and insulin levels correlated with blood sugar levels. Type 1 is lack of insulin (and needs injected insulin), Type 2 is plenty of insulin, but there is insulin resistance and the insulin is not effective. For Type 2, oral meds may be appropriate. If it is adult onset type 1, it may develop quickly. Therefore, I suggest your read up on syptoms of both type 1 and type 2 and if you develop symptoms then you must go to your Dr.
Avatar n tn I just found out that I'm pregnant, and my blood sugar is literally all over the place. One hour it will be 140, and the next hour it will be 240. I have another week until my endocrinologist appointment, and I am VERY NERVOUS. PLEASE HELP!? What can I do to keep it down until my Dr appointments? I'm limiting my carbs, and excercising. What else can i do?
Avatar f tn Can someone tell me how high your blood sugar should get before you become alarmed or call the doctor? I have not been diagnosed but a few months and my doctor has not told me much of nothing. My sugar keeps going up and down, my doctor won't put me on medicine(the highest its been is 400+, the lowest 60) Thanks for your help!!!
Avatar n tn s endocronologist said that sometimes adrenaline can make your blood sugar rise. Maybe you could do some research on adrenaline and blood sugars rising. I had never heard of this before, but it makes sense. I am thinking that being a firefighter would take alot of adrenaline and would be stressful too. Stress makes my blood sugars rise very high too.
Avatar f tn I m Type-1 diabetic from last 15 years and my blood sugar level used to be under control but from last 2 Weeks, my sugar level fluctuates a lot. Fasting blood sugar is nearly around 300 : before dinner around 500 and after dinner its around 400.There is no change in my diet, exercise or my daily routine pattern. Even I take short acting insulin(novorapid) when my sugar level goes beyond 300 but it doesn't make much difference. I m really worried.
Avatar f tn If you continue with blood sugars this high your body is going to fail and you will have major complications which will lead to death.
Avatar n tn You need to eat with in one to two hours after waking....my sugar will actually go up if I don't eat. My liver starts to make sugar and since I don't produce enough insulin and can't adequately use the insulin I produce it will just keep rising! Strangely enough, as soon as I eat - the levels will stabilize.
1773108 tn?1314158067 More important is what I was eating as I eliminated many foods from my diet. Breads and pasta turn into sugar as soon as he eats it and it can raise his Glucose levels high. He may want to see his doctor and get classes on changin his eating habits and foods he should have. If you are cooking for him, you may want to attend this class with him so that you can help him. My wife is not a diabetic but she cooks for both of us. She has lost a lot of weight doing what I do. Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn I went to the ER not long ago and I was told I had very high blood sugar, I had not eaten anything for more than 8 hours other than toast.
Avatar f tn All these things greatly influence blood sugar. If you have been unable to get your blood sugar stable at all, these are things you need to work on. I hope your husband gets better soon.
