Any comments or experiences would be great.
Avatar m tn Because you are asking about hyaluronic acid, and because of the recent addition of GAG's to pharmacy shelves, I think it's important to address a few points about the uses of these compounds therapeutically. On the up side, hyaluronic acid is the same from whatever source it is isolated, and it is so common in the body that it can be used as a hypoallergenic surgical material for reconstructing and building up tissues that are lost.
Avatar m tn I will definitely ask my rheumatologist and my surgeon about oral anti-inflammation medication. Yes, but supplements I meant fish oil. Also, I have been taking hyaluronic acid as well recently. I never noticed a difference from taking fish oil for 2+ years. Actually... after taking hyaluronic acid for only 2 weeks, I notice a significant difference in how my joints feel as well as my eyes feeling much better; they have a much smoother motility sensation at the back of my eyes.

There is no topical treatment for this and I would suggest collagen or hyaluronic filling or laser resurfacing. Please discuss these treatment options with your cosmetologist. I hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted in case you have any additional doubts.
Avatar f tn Topical hydroquinone is considered by many dermatologists to be a safer, similarly effective (if not more so), and less expensive option than lasers or deep peel treatments. Topical hydroquinone comes in 2% (available in cosmetics) to 4% (or more) concentrations (available from a physician or by prescription), alone or in combination with tretinoin 0.05% to 0.1%.

Avatar f tn Hello, I went to the doctor to have a filler injected into the eyes dark circles area, the syringe with the gel (hyaluronic acid) was not new, I know because he took it out of a box but the blister was not sealed, I also saw that the gel in the syringe was not completely full, I saw that he took a needle with a cover from the blister, so I think the needle was new, and he placed it on the tip of the syringe with gel, I am worried that the gel (hyaluronic acid) has been contaminated with the bloo

Avatar n tn Hi, Mederma® is an onion-extract-based topical gel. A 2006 published peer reviewed research article indicated no statistically significant change in scar appearance from products of this type. However, a 1996 study into the therapeutic values of onion and garlic found that they may act as an anti-inflammatory and bacteriostatic. Postinflammatory hyperpigmentation is a discolouration that is left on the skin after an underlying skin disease has healed.

Avatar n tn For severe disease, keratolytics such as salicylic acid or coal tar preparations may be used to remove dense scale. Topical terbinafine solution (1%) has also been shown to be effective in the treatment of scalp seborrhoea,as may lotions containing alpha hydroxy acids or corticosteroids (such as fluocinolone acetonide). Avatar f tn You might be talking about hyaluronic acid. That's what comes up in a google search. It is used to aid reduction of inflammation and as a joint lubricant. I used it for horses 20 years ago, and it was the successful use in sport horses that prompted its use in people. I think whether or not it's helpful depends on too many factors for anyone to advise you over the internet. Ask his doctor if hyaluronic acid will help.
Avatar f tn Greetings, This post may be to late to be of benefit but for several years I have benefited from Hyaluronic acid (Synvisc, Hyalgan, Orthovisc) injections into the base of my thumbs (Basal thumb arthritis). Typically, I need injections every 6 to 8 months. Sometimes sooner and once in a while one or the other thumb will not require treatment for twelve months or longer.
Avatar n tn I'm taking Ameriden Olive Leaf Extract - 6 caps a day, I was instructed to take only this brand. Plus Glucosamine 1500mg 3 X a day and hyaluronic acid (cushions joint) 100mg 3X a day. It'a lot of pills but would rather do that than take drugs with bad side-effects (had really bad reaction to Celebrex). You can go to the website Arthritis Help For Me ******* for more info.

Topical treatments with acids and chemical peels can be effective but can take a while for the skin to totally revert to its normal color. Microdermabrasion can also be done, but this might require several sessions. Skin resurfacing using lasers is also an option.
Avatar f tn While pregnant do stay away from retinols which are anti aging. They can cause birth defects. But look for something that has hyaluronic acid in it which is a natural chemical our body makes which helps retains moisture by 1000x its weight. So it is super hydrating which will help reduce and prevent wrinkles.

Avatar m tn , I was looking into the option of a combined hyaluronic acid/PRP (platelet-rich plasma) injection - about which I'd heard great things - until I realised I didn't want to take the risk after the two half-botched operations I'd had done years ago. So I decided to simply take hyaluronic acid orally on the off-chance, and have had no pain since. Could be a coincidence but it could also be worth a try. Readily available in capsule form from multiple sources.
