Avatar m tn Because you are asking about hyaluronic acid, and because of the recent addition of GAG's to pharmacy shelves, I think it's important to address a few points about the uses of these compounds therapeutically. On the up side, hyaluronic acid is the same from whatever source it is isolated, and it is so common in the body that it can be used as a hypoallergenic surgical material for reconstructing and building up tissues that are lost.
Avatar n tn Within weeks she was suffering from arthritis which quickly progressed to serious joint inflammation and inability to function. She was diagnosed by CC rheumatoid dr. with RA though no markers. She was given standard arthritis meds and suggested she try methotrexate. She chose to try to control it with a gluten free diet She got it pretty well under control but was no longer working. When she went to a naturopath to consult on beginning this new diet in Sept.
Avatar n tn I'm virtually certain I don't have the rheumatoid(arthritis) One could develop/get it anytime(as I recall), & even osteo from rheumatoid, I suppose. I was diagnosed with osteo in '03 & show no egregious new symptoms which would suggest rheumatoid. If the opposite(were true), I'm certain my physician would've had me do the tests you recommend(ed) I know there's "no cure" for osteoarthritis, but inhibit acquiescing since I (appear to) have it.
Avatar n tn I'm taking Ameriden Olive Leaf Extract - 6 caps a day, I was instructed to take only this brand. Plus Glucosamine 1500mg 3 X a day and hyaluronic acid (cushions joint) 100mg 3X a day. It'a lot of pills but would rather do that than take drugs with bad side-effects (had really bad reaction to Celebrex). You can go to the website Arthritis Help For Me ******* for more info.
Avatar f tn I assume you're looking for alternative remedies, not pharmaceuticals. This can be very particular to an individual, and dependent on how severe the arthritis is and whether it's pinching nerves and such, and whether it's osteo or rheumatoid arthritis.

Avatar m tn Hello, I am 46 yrs old, male, ex-athlete (competitive level basketball) and live in London, England. A year ago I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis on my left hip during an arthroscopy and most of the joint cartilage is worn out. Take glucosamine tablets regularly. Even though my condition is not so advanced to take painkillers etc, I cannot do any sport, which is important to me (even at a light, amateur level) and walking start bothering me after a few hundered meters.
Avatar m tn Our 14 year old Lab mix Sable has arthritis and is on Tramadol. It doesn’t seem to be working too well. She has many other health problems, and probably doesn’t have a lot of time left, so we would like to make her as comfortable as possible. She has kidney disease, high BP, and a Thyroid problem, so she is on Benazepral, and Thyrosyn. She hasn’t been eating well, and pain may be part of the problem. But, the Tramadol tends to make her loose her appetite.
Avatar f tn Please add Omega 3 Fatty acids at a dose of 250 mg twice daily. Adequan and hyaluronic acid injections will also help. Other natural remedies: Dog Gone Pain, Acupuncture, Physical Therapy, Prolotherapy, Stem Cell Therapy, Chinese Herbal Formulas: Benefits Hips and Knees, Di Gu Pi, Loranthus Combination and more. Non-Steroidal Anti-inflammatories, such as Rimadyl, or Previcox or equivalent, and Tramadol are helpful in conjunction with holistic therapies.
Avatar n tn My question is, could the rheumatoid arthritis have caused her lung scarring? If yes how? Also if she takes her rheumatoid arthritis tablets should this alsohelp control and limit her lung damage along with other measures that we take?
Avatar m tn Could it cause vision problems, I have seen that the main ingredient of restylane is Hyaluronic acid, I have found a topical cream that is 75% hyaluronic acid, I know this wont work as well but do you think this is an option or not even worth spending hte money on the cream. Any comments or experiences would be great.
Avatar n tn My 15 yr old has had progressively worsening joint pain the past 1 1/2 yrs and has recently developed "burning feet." my dr. sugested rheumatoid arthritis, but the standard lab test were negative a few mos ago. i took her to an adolescent rheumatologist who did no further testing, only a one time ofc exam and said "she doesnt have RA because the lab tests were negative. I am at a loss. Now she is complaining that her feet "burn.
Avatar m tn Thanks for your response. My doctor told me to go off of durezol and onto Lotemax 2x a day. He also took a look at my retinas and overall eye health and said the increased pressure didn't cause any obvious signs of any major side effects. Before surgery, I tried all that (restasis for 1 year, xiidra for 4 months, Toyos IPL, lipiflow, gland probing and expressions from Maskin, supplements, dieting, lifestyle changes, doxy, PRP serum, etc).
650397 tn?1228831384 Hello, Without examination, confirming a diagnosis is tough but the various possibilities for your symptoms are muscle fatigue or strain from overuse, stress fracture, tendonitis, claudication, osteomyelitis, arthritis(osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis or inefctive arthritis), nerve damage like sciatic nerve pain (radiating pain down the leg) caused by a slipped disk in the back or benign tumors or cystsof the bones.
Avatar m tn My doctor is an idiot because now he says I may have Arthritis or even Rheumatoid arthritis instead of gout!!! I now have to wait 7 months, YES 7 MONTHS, to see a rheumatologist! I have suffered for 4 years and the last 6 months have been brutal at times because of a possible mis-diagnosis. My question to anyone who can offer some insight is...Can I still have Gout despite normal Uric Acid levels? I would really appreciate and be very thankful to anyone who can help me in this matter.
Avatar f tn Greetings, This post may be to late to be of benefit but for several years I have benefited from Hyaluronic acid (Synvisc, Hyalgan, Orthovisc) injections into the base of my thumbs (Basal thumb arthritis). Typically, I need injections every 6 to 8 months. Sometimes sooner and once in a while one or the other thumb will not require treatment for twelve months or longer.
2043993 tn?1450875078 Hi, I am 23 years old and have been noticing some occasional stiffness in my hands, feet, knees, and back. My mother suffers from rheumatoid arthritis and Lupus and I know both are hereditary diseases. Is it possible to have rheumatoid arthritis at such a young age? and should I get tested?
Avatar n tn So I was just doing some research for another post on post viral arthritis. It is a kind of arthritis that can set in after you have a virus or the flu. I read that it takes several weeks to months to resolve. I immediately thought of you. Ask your doctor about this type of arthritis and please let us know what you find out.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis since 2007. First the blood work showed RA factor 83. And last year the number were 95. I went to rheumatologist last year. After examining he said even the numbers are high i don't have any pain or swelling he cant give any medicine. Since i am not taking anything. And i don't have any pain or swelling. But i am worrying about the numbers. If anybody have any suggesstions, would be highly appreciated.

Avatar n tn My father was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis shortly after WWII. He developed it shortly after being shipped back from England in a coma with a very high temperature. He had the usual symptoms of RA but it was not symetrical. It affected different joints on either side of the body. He died in 1965. About a year before he died, he developed unusual symptoms- loss of taste, areas of de-pigmentation etc.
