Common Questions and Answers about Hyaluronic acid and knee

hyaluronic-acid

Avatar m tn This has been treated with ultrasound, condroitin sulphate pills for three months, anti-inflammatory drugs on and off, and an insole. The pain when I walk is still there and at times intense. I have two questions: 1. Several physicians have propose hyaluronic acid or cortisone injections. Which is recommended? 2. One physician offered to perform a chondral transplant, consisting in taking fresh chartilage from my knee and implanting it in the toe, with arthroscopic surgery.
Avatar m tn After a couple of ACL surgeries over the years due to sports injuries and regular knee pain ever since when exercising, descending stairs etc., I was looking into the option of a combined hyaluronic acid/PRP (platelet-rich plasma) injection - about which I'd heard great things - until I realised I didn't want to take the risk after the two half-botched operations I'd had done years ago. So I decided to simply take hyaluronic acid orally on the off-chance, and have had no pain since.
Avatar m tn Because you are asking about hyaluronic acid, and because of the recent addition of GAG's to pharmacy shelves, I think it's important to address a few points about the uses of these compounds therapeutically. On the up side, hyaluronic acid is the same from whatever source it is isolated, and it is so common in the body that it can be used as a hypoallergenic surgical material for reconstructing and building up tissues that are lost.
Avatar m tn Some patients swear by the joint supplements, such as chondroitin, hyaluronic acid, and glucosamine. There is some anecdotal evidence that these may help thicken the cartilage, but no strict research has ever shown this to be true.
Avatar f tn HA is the natural substance found in the fluid that surrounds a healthy knee joint and helps cushion, lubricate, and protect the knee as you move throughout the day. You should not receive treatment with EUFLEXXA if you have: A known allergy to hyaluronate preparations, or knee joint infections, infections or skin disease in the area of the injection site.
Avatar m tn Could it cause vision problems, I have seen that the main ingredient of restylane is Hyaluronic acid, I have found a topical cream that is 75% hyaluronic acid, I know this wont work as well but do you think this is an option or not even worth spending hte money on the cream. Any comments or experiences would be great.

Avatar m tn is the left knee, and a recent accident disclosed a torn cartilage and arthritis in the left knee (and some swelling behind the knee.....no pain, just swollen). One injection of Cartisone and 1 weekly injection of Hyaluronic Acid for 3 weeks brought some relief, but very little. I read about Castor Oil Packs and within 1 hour, I eliminated the swelling (had been swollen for almost 4 months) and daily treatments of COP has eliminated 95% of all discomfort....
Avatar m tn No better or worse. Exercise, diet, Cordisone and Hyaluronic injections acid, rubs, creams, fat stem cell shots...Knee ex-rays show I do have medial bone on bone in knees and osteoarthritis (OA). I felt a bit like I had a brain fog so I got checked out for that. One test after another. MRIs and auto immune test. inconclusive but what lead to further test was something in my blood told doctors I could have an auto immune but not which one. Doctors also said my B12 and D6 were way low.

Avatar f tn You might be talking about hyaluronic acid. That's what comes up in a google search. It is used to aid reduction of inflammation and as a joint lubricant. I used it for horses 20 years ago, and it was the successful use in sport horses that prompted its use in people. I think whether or not it's helpful depends on too many factors for anyone to advise you over the internet. Ask his doctor if hyaluronic acid will help.
Avatar m tn Magnesium is needed to relax muscles and for hyaluronic acid synthesis which is used to lubricate joints. Glad i know this because i'd be going through a zillion tests with no diagnosis. Give magnesium supplements a try. Could be the simple answer. :) Magnesium supplements, - to avoid,- how to take it and -safety: http://www.medhelp.
Avatar f tn t work so well for the bone on bone pain in the thumb joint and works so well for the same bone on bone pain in the knee!!! Hope i hear from someone/anyone who's gotten relief in this area.
Avatar f tn Hello, I went to the doctor to have a filler injected into the eyes dark circles area, the syringe with the gel (hyaluronic acid) was not new, I know because he took it out of a box but the blister was not sealed, I also saw that the gel in the syringe was not completely full, I saw that he took a needle with a cover from the blister, so I think the needle was new, and he placed it on the tip of the syringe with gel, I am worried that the gel (hyaluronic acid) has been contaminated with the bloo
159619 tn?1707018272 The patient should be referred to physical therapy. Intra-articular injection of corticosteroids, and hyaluronic acid, may have a small effect on knee pain. I think Synvisc treatments are fine. You need to monitor your improvement on Synvisc treatment. If you do not have any response then what is the second line of treatment. What is the line of management the doctor has planned? Keep me posted if you have any queries. Bye.
Avatar m tn Can somebody from the old school on this hep.
Avatar n tn I have tried Olay regenerist, ROC and Garnier Nutritionist and currently seen ad for Hydroxatone that contains matrixly 3000, argireline and hyaluronic acid and is there anything you can recommend I use that can help minimize the wrinkles while adding collagen and elasticity to my skin. I am tired of products that offer a lot but delivers nothing. I want a product I can stick to. SO PLEASE what would you recommend I buy and how should I use it.
Avatar n tn Sancheti did her Xrays and did physiotherapy (e-massage and some exercises) for 1 week and then had given some tablets and also asked her to continue exercises. She took the course of tablets for 4 months, it did not help though we saw some minor improvement. We discontinued it and then tried few Ayurvedic doc recommended stuff for 6 months. That also seemed to have helped a little bit. Nothing has helped to a major extent.
Avatar f tn Hi all. Has anyone ever had a knee injection for RA? My friend suggested a clinic that specializes in knee injections, but I weary about them. The clinic's right near my house and on their web site they have pretty detailed information of the process, but I thought it might be smart to get real advise. If you'd had the procedure done, will you take a look at this link for me? http://www.northwestkneeclinic.com/services/knee-injections/ to see if this is accurate?
Avatar n tn Surgical options are reserved for persistent or severe symptoms and include arthroscopy, osteotomy, and total knee replacement. Keep me informed if you have any queries. Bye.
Avatar n tn Check into MSM, along with the glucosamine and hyaluronic acid. No chondroitin?
Avatar n tn In some individuals, the kneecap tends to rub against one side of the knee joint, and the cartilage surface become irritated, and knee pain is the result. Allowing the inflammation of chondromalacia to settle is the first step of treatment. Avoiding painful activities that irritate the knee for several weeks, followed by a gradual return to activity is important. In this time, cross-training activities, such as swimming, can allow an athlete to maintain their fitness while resting the knee.
Avatar f tn While pregnant do stay away from retinols which are anti aging. They can cause birth defects. But look for something that has hyaluronic acid in it which is a natural chemical our body makes which helps retains moisture by 1000x its weight. So it is super hydrating which will help reduce and prevent wrinkles.
Avatar m tn ve had my eyes dialated twice and in both cases (one with an optometrist and one with a opthamologist) I was told everything looked fine and that my floaters was due to aging as well. The MD did a very thorough examThe reason I made the connection was that hyaluronic acid seems to be involved in both cases so I was curious if there is a connection. If you don't mind me asking, why would joint inflammation be a cause of concerns for floaters...?
