hyaluronic-acid

Avatar m tn Because you are asking about hyaluronic acid, and because of the recent addition of GAG's to pharmacy shelves, I think it's important to address a few points about the uses of these compounds therapeutically. On the up side, hyaluronic acid is the same from whatever source it is isolated, and it is so common in the body that it can be used as a hypoallergenic surgical material for reconstructing and building up tissues that are lost.
Avatar m tn Could it cause vision problems, I have seen that the main ingredient of restylane is Hyaluronic acid, I have found a topical cream that is 75% hyaluronic acid, I know this wont work as well but do you think this is an option or not even worth spending hte money on the cream. Any comments or experiences would be great.
Avatar n tn I have also noticed that I have had hair loss as well. How many milligrams of folic acid do you take, and can you take it every day, because you wrote 1 a day, or even 1 every other day. Do you know if there are bad side effects if you take folic acid every day?
Avatar f tn Hello, I went to the doctor to have a filler injected into the eyes dark circles area, the syringe with the gel (hyaluronic acid) was not new, I know because he took it out of a box but the blister was not sealed, I also saw that the gel in the syringe was not completely full, I saw that he took a needle with a cover from the blister, so I think the needle was new, and he placed it on the tip of the syringe with gel, I am worried that the gel (hyaluronic acid) has been contaminated with the bloo
Avatar m tn After a couple of ACL surgeries over the years due to sports injuries and regular knee pain ever since when exercising, descending stairs etc., I was looking into the option of a combined hyaluronic acid/PRP (platelet-rich plasma) injection - about which I'd heard great things - until I realised I didn't want to take the risk after the two half-botched operations I'd had done years ago. So I decided to simply take hyaluronic acid orally on the off-chance, and have had no pain since.
Avatar m tn Can somebody from the old school on this hep.
Avatar n tn I have tried Olay regenerist, ROC and Garnier Nutritionist and currently seen ad for Hydroxatone that contains matrixly 3000, argireline and hyaluronic acid and is there anything you can recommend I use that can help minimize the wrinkles while adding collagen and elasticity to my skin. I am tired of products that offer a lot but delivers nothing. I want a product I can stick to. SO PLEASE what would you recommend I buy and how should I use it.
1193392 tn?1266969248 I have been taking hydrolyzed collagen, hyaluronic acid and some other things like grape seed extract recently with little or no visible results. I suspect I may have a thyroid issue, as I do have quite cold hands and feet, light headedness and a few other issues, but my doctor was sure my thyroid was ok. Since the skin change I have also been losing hair in the normal male pattern, which has been very unpleasant.
Avatar m tn This has been treated with ultrasound, condroitin sulphate pills for three months, anti-inflammatory drugs on and off, and an insole. The pain when I walk is still there and at times intense. I have two questions: 1. Several physicians have propose hyaluronic acid or cortisone injections. Which is recommended? 2. One physician offered to perform a chondral transplant, consisting in taking fresh chartilage from my knee and implanting it in the toe, with arthroscopic surgery.
739988 tn?1386672969 However one lady who had this problem asked her pdoc and he advised selenium and zinc for med induced hair loss when she started losing hair (she thought Lamictal was the culprit but could not be sure) her hair loss stopped falling immediately. She took 200mcg of selenium (not mg) and 50 mg of zinc a day.
Avatar m tn Some patients swear by the joint supplements, such as chondroitin, hyaluronic acid, and glucosamine. There is some anecdotal evidence that these may help thicken the cartilage, but no strict research has ever shown this to be true.
Avatar f tn Evening primrose oil has been used to supplement the diet of deficient individuals as well as for a variety of inflammatory, hormonal, and immune diseases and includes atopic dermatitis (a skin condition), depression, diabetes, irritable bowel syndrome, premenstrual syndrome and menopause, rheumatoid arthritis, and a variety of others. Symptoms of fatty acid deficiency include fatigue, dry skin and hair, cracked nails, arthritis, and dry mucous membranes.
Avatar n tn Check into MSM, along with the glucosamine and hyaluronic acid. No chondroitin?
Avatar n tn I have read a number of blogs including this one that indicate that hair loss is a side effect yet the Wellbutrin trials only listed hair loss as a side effect for less than 1% of patients. Given the U.S.
Avatar n tn s your thyroid have your hair loss evaluated by a dermatologist or hair loss expert to rule out any other causes. However, make sure your thyroid is not being under treated or change thyroid drug brands. It just might be the thyroid condition itself which just needs time to heal. Hair and nails are the last to heal and take the longest to heal than all the thyroid symptoms, so patience might be the only medicine.
Avatar n tn I have tried Mederma, Scar zone, hyaluronic acid with vitamin c, scar guard, kelo cote, cortisone 10, and skin medica. Also using lemon juice, an indian volcano ash mask that is recommended to apply with vinegar (as it is a powder). I have been doing this for five months. I also bought a skin roller 1' with over 250 needles and have done two treatments. I am not really seeing drastic results, minutely at best.
Avatar f tn While pregnant do stay away from retinols which are anti aging. They can cause birth defects. But look for something that has hyaluronic acid in it which is a natural chemical our body makes which helps retains moisture by 1000x its weight. So it is super hydrating which will help reduce and prevent wrinkles.
Avatar f tn About 1 week after stopping MTX, I stopped my folinic acid and my hair loss seems to be worse and also my nails are splitting and my tongue is sore. ( I also had 2 Remicaid infusions 2 months ago in August and 1 week of Arava in May and am on Plaquenil (past 4 months and for awhile in the past).
Avatar m tn Trauma can cause hair loss and major surgery is certainly a contributor to this. It could of course be totally unrelated, so it's worth getting some blood tests done. In particular have Vitamin b12, folic acid and iron tested. My Wife had major surgery last year, not heart related, but her hair was falling out in clumps everytime she brushed it. Her Doctor checked for those three items and they were just under the borderline.
Avatar n tn The doctors have said that the virus attacked her central nervous system My question is could this situation have been misdiagnosed? not the flu that has caused it but something linked to the hair loss? the hair loss is being totally ignored by both the GP and the hospital, but she is losing hands full of hair. Can it be heavy metal poising?
Avatar f tn All I get from my PC is a shoulder shrug and increase my antidepressant and then tells me not to worry about my hair loss. I have an appointment soon and I'd like to go armed with information and good questions. I also had been taking nexium for many years. I stopped taking it, but he wanted me to start again. Obediently I did, but I stopped again in May. I am open for any suggestions.
Avatar f tn A link between low levels of iron and female hair loss. If there aren’t enough amino acids available to build and repair all body proteins, the hair or nails are the first to go! Also if stomach acid is low, most minerals (including iron) aren’t adequately separated. low stomach acid could be the problem. Have your stomach function tested.
Avatar f tn Hello, I have been having severe hair loss for quite some time and had basically given up and accepted it’s just female pattern alopecia (even though it is not in my familial genes)....until recently. I was recently found to have a B12 level of 236. From what I have read even though that is considered within normal ranges, anything from 200-400 is low and can cause symptoms. I was placed on OTC supplements.
Avatar m tn ve had my eyes dialated twice and in both cases (one with an optometrist and one with a opthamologist) I was told everything looked fine and that my floaters was due to aging as well. The MD did a very thorough examThe reason I made the connection was that hyaluronic acid seems to be involved in both cases so I was curious if there is a connection. If you don't mind me asking, why would joint inflammation be a cause of concerns for floaters...?
