Humira withdrawal symptoms

Common Questions and Answers about Humira withdrawal symptoms

humira

Avatar f tn I just started Humira (2 shots so far) and have had a worsening of symptoms since the first shot. My hands/feet have become swollen and my joints hurt more than before I started taking the Humira. I also have systemic vasculitis (Churg-Strauss Syndrome) and am on Cytoxan and Prednisone, but I have been taking both for more than a year and know the side-effects from each.
Avatar f tn Common side effects of Humira include: upper respiratory tract infection, headache, injection site reaction, skin rash, antibody development, sinusitis, and pain at injection site. Other side effects include: urinary tract infection, abdominal pain, and flu-like symptoms. https://www.drugs.com/sfx/humira-side-effects.html I'd tell your doctor you are experiencing this.
Avatar n tn Delay of a single dose by 24 hours is unlikely to be the cause of the vomiting or aggravation of symptoms. His symptoms could also be related to other GI issues such as infections etc. I would suggest getting this evaluated by a primary care physician initially and depending on the cause suspected/ diagnosed, it can be managed accordingly or specialist care may be sought. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
Avatar f tn Hi monicaroni, I have been taking Humira almost 8 months. I take humira for Crohns Althougth reap the benefit for the AS. I am thinking that you probably had a concurrent infection brewing when you Started Humira. Good Luck managing your AS, I appreciate how difficult it can be with mobility issues, and treating pain.
Avatar n tn I have RA and use Humira/methotrexate. How long do I have to be off Humira to get a yellow fever (and/or tyhphoid) vaccine? How long to I have to stay off Humira after the vaccine?
Avatar f tn I have been treated for rheumatoid arthritis with Humira for 7 months including a combination of Humira and methotrexate for the past 2 months. I also take 5mg of prednisone, and 6 Azulfadine tablets each day. I was taking Humira once every fourteen days and I am on 15mg of methotrexate a week. About a month ago, I started experiencing numbness in my toes and feet. I mentioned it to my rheumatologist but she wasn't concerned and simply told me it wasn't rheumatoid arthritis.
1326907 tn?1274923270 Well, narcotics work wonderfully for the pain, however you can't live life being on narcotics all the time. How would you work/drive/care for your children if your head is clouded by narcotics? I was like you - I had awful pain, started Humira and within a few months felt completely better. I am still on Humira and haven't had any flare ups (fingers crossed so that I don't jinx it) for two years.
Avatar f tn he thinks that i will get some help from humira and i am to start that this week. i have done searches but only find info on humira induced lupus, nothing about treating lupus with humira. is anyone on here taking humira for lupus? any advise would be greatly appreciated. thanks!!
Avatar f tn I was on Azathioprine, Canasa, and a taper of Prednisone with no relief. Just started Humira yesterday. Four shots to the stomach....ouch! Today along with my flare symptoms (lots of bleeding, constipation, bloating, abdominal pain, fatigue, dry mouth, occasional nausea) I have the chills with a very low grade fever and my fatigue is worse than normal. Is this normal after starting Humira? What do others do to manage all of these symptoms?
Avatar m tn Sorry about your ulcerative colitis diagnosis. Does the humira help? A doctor at the VA diagnosed you with this and prescribes your medication. The maintenance dose of Humira is typically 40 mg after the starting regime that is often higher doses. Are you still having symptoms at your maintenance dose? https://www.drugs.com/dosage/humira.
1325952 tn?1274923917 My 16 year old daughter has a rare auto-immune disease called "Takayasu Arteritis". Her medicines consist of Prednisone 10 mg daily (down from 40 mg), Azathirophrine 150 mg daily, Methotrexate 1cc 25mg injection weekly, Humira 40mg 1cc injection weekly, & Levothyroxine .5mcg daily. Despite these medications, her Sed-rate ranges 13 - 40 and its checked every 2 weeks along with CRP which ranges 3.2 - 12.

Avatar f tn I have very severe pain on a relatively frequent basis, about 2 episodes a month. I am on humira and it seems to be helping all the other symptoms but the pain. My gi doc only ever offers antispasmodic meds. The pain I am feel IS NOT cramping...believe me I know what cramping is. Not sure what to do. Any advice would be appreciated. Before you ask I know it's not an obsruction...
Avatar f tn I used to take a drug for psoriatic arthritis that can induce MS or MS-like symptoms in rare cases. I had tingling and numbness on the left side of my face, extending down through my left arm. I also had burning sensations in my fingertips, and buzzing in my fingertips, along with recurrent uveitis. I was MRIed twice. The first time I had 1 lesion, and the second (one month later) there were 3 more lesions. I was taken off the drug and I didn't have any symptoms.
Avatar f tn About 6 months ago he was diagnosed with Psoriatic arthritis after having his hands and body start crippling his abailities in daily living, and began taking Humira as treatment. Recently he has decided that we can no longer be intimate and we need to separate. He is terrified of getting the herpes infection and believes if he does it will be considerably worse for him and he won't be able to continue the Humira and thus end up crippled.

158939 tn?1274915197 I've just had my 2nd injection of Humira today (on 20mg, 2x month). Both times I've had no energy and felt bad for about 12 hours after the injection. Anyone else have this type of reaction to the injection?
Avatar m tn Of course it seems a lot of folks have the same questions you do after reading humira info online - found a lot of questions asking if humira causes herpes. If you already have herpes simplex, either orally or genitally, it could cause it to reactivate. Most people never get tested for herpes to know that they have it.
Avatar f tn I have gone through withdrawal a couple times now between prescriptions and have only made it to day 4 one time. I am now almost finished with my last prescription and won't have access to any more from my doctor until at least the end of February early March. I am ready to quit. These pain pills have become my coping mechanism. I take any where from 6-15 a day. My marriage is not the greatest, my mom is dying of lung cancer and I am so unhappy with myself, inside and out.
Avatar m tn Would the antigen or antibody levels have been at detectable levels at that point especially with all the symptoms ive been having, even though I took a humira shot 10 weeks prior to the test? what about the rapid POC test I took at 9 weeks? Is that test anygood? Im going for my 3 month test in almost 3 weeks and Im praying hard. Thanks for your time and patience Doc.
Avatar n tn Thank you for your response. The only new thing I have started on myself, is Humira. I'm due for my 3rd injection tomorrow. I have rheumatoid arthritis myself. Could there be any connection?
686769 tn?1236272131 I have no noticeable side effects except for slight swelling/redness at the injection site on my stomach. It has worked wonderfully for me as I am actually able to eat food thanks to Humira! My symptoms are not completely gone and I still do have diarrhea quite frequently but for the most part my stomach PAIN is gone - which is great news to me. I have a hard time injecting myself with the shot but my boyfriend does it for me, which works great for me.
Avatar f tn As you well know Humira is an immuno-suppressive drug , which mainly inhibits TNF (tumor necrosis factor). There's a growing amount of evidence of the development of Autoimmune conditions, related to TNF inhibitors, such as Remicade, Humira and other biologics.
Avatar f tn The doctor wants to put her on Humira. Presently, she is having no symptoms. After reading the posts from others who are on this drug, it seems that she could wind up feeling worse than she is now. Are there other treatments that anyone would recommend to decrease the inflammation, without going directly to such a seemingly strong and potentially problem-producing drug. She is a wife and mom of two young children who often bring home colds and sore throats, etc.
