humira

1974283 tn?1425609124 Hey guys! I was wondering if there's anyone out there that can give me more information on cimzia. Every medication I have tried either makes me worse, or I have reactions to. I created a reaction to Remicade and Humira just doesn't seem to work anymore. I am bleeding more than I have in years and I am only 18. My brother met a girl who takes Cimzia and she is having amazing results. I have, well, little hope that the Humira will turn around and stop working.
Avatar m tn Both are supposed to do the same thing in the body. The only difference is Remicade is a made-protien where as the Humira is a human protien. With Humira you give yourself a shot every other week. So far, after using both, I prefer the Remicade. I didn't mind the treatments as much as I do the Humira even though the Humira is more convienient (I hate having to give myself a shot.
Avatar f tn s a growing amount of evidence of the development of Autoimmune conditions, related to TNF inhibitors, such as Remicade, Humira and other biologics.
1115182 tn?1258760246 I have had Crohn's for 40 yrs; 30 yrs on steroids, 10 on methotrexate. Originally oral, 25 mg a week, but last 4 yrs weekly injections of 25 mg. I had a hemi-colectomy in March 09, with 15 cm of my small and large intestines removed. Unfortunately, I then had a big flare in late September requiring 2 weeks again in hospital. I was put on remicade: gastro said I would have only 3 infusions: 0, 2 weeks, 6 weeks, but still had faecal incontinence and failure to put on weight.
Avatar f tn The competition does sell versions of it (Remicade and Humira) but those are just as costly. Humira actually would cost me more. I was hoping there was a different class of medications outside those 3 that can do the same job for much less.. Thank you for replying.
Avatar f tn I am sorry that you have chrons. No fun right? Hopefully you will hear from those who have tried Humira. I was on Remicade and it did wonders. I am no longer on it because I have 2 fistula's and had to have bowel resection. But I went from barely could go to feeling really good on Remicade. Good luck, hope it works wonders.
Avatar f tn 29, 2009 - Rheumatoid arthritis patients who take the biologic drugs Remicade, Humira, and Enbrel do not appear to have an increased risk for developing cancer in the first few years of use, researchers in Sweden report. The study is one of the largest and longest population-based investigations ever into the cancer-causing potential of the drugs, known as tumor necrosis factor (TNF) inhibitors.
Avatar m tn Remicade is a biologic injection, in the same class of drugs as Humira, Enbrel and Orencia. I have been taking Humira for rhematoid arthritis and it seems to be doing it's job as my rheumy says. It keeps me out of the emergency room with serious flares which had become a habit for me. These drugs are usually reserved for "rheumatoid" type arthritis and getting insurance companies to approve them is not normally easy.
686769 tn?1236272131 I did remicade i wish i had it instead sometimes rather than humira. it makes me soooooo sick for three or four days. but hey some dont have this happen. but i think most do. it fels like the flu. i have been on humira a year and it still makes me feel very bad and weter each injection. good luck.
Avatar n tn I last had my last Remicade four weeks ago and then tried my first loading dose of Cimzia. I am very ill from the Cimzia. Does anyone know if I could move back to Remicade if only 8-10 weeks have passed. My side effects on Cimzia are comparable to the.side effects on Humira that caused me to stop using the drug. Remicade is only marginally effective now for my Crohns but the side effects are minimal. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
621770 tn?1243220914 I am participating in a Remicade/Infliximab along with standard care PegInf and Riba and was wondering if anyone out there is too?
Avatar f tn I have severe Crohns and currently taking 40 mg weekly injections. Would anyone know if it is safe for me to be exposed to someone who has recently gotten over a bad virus.. I know taking Humira suppresses my immune sytem but wasn't sure if that included virus as well as bacterial infections. My nephew has planned to stay with me for the weekend and his fever just broke yesterday.. He has had the virus for 4 days now. Thank you!
Avatar n tn There has been no suggestion that I go back on to mtx, and when I see my gastro next week will ask if I can change to Humira, which is a similar monoclonal drug to infliximab (remicade). Through some 25 yrs of taking steroids, when this was the only medication to try and keep the Crohn's in remission (was diagnosed in 1970 - 40 yrs ago) I have significant osteo-arthritis in both hands, feet and hips.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with Crohn's 9 years ago. I have been taking Asacol (5-ASA) and Imuran (Azathioprine). Last february I was hospitalized for the first time and was put on prednisone. I am still on prednisone and my body won't let me get off of it. My doctor wants me to start Humira, but I am scared. I don't like reading about the side effects and things that can happen when on that drug. Does anyone have any experience with this drug (Humira)? I would really appreciate it.
1120928 tn?1263190816 My Doctor has not put me on anything yet, she want's me to choose between Humira and Remicade, but the thought of taking either scares me to death because my immune system is already weak.
Avatar m tn On doctor suspects that because I have not taken Humira injection for about a month that it might have played a role in this mystery, Has anyone had anything similar to this or have insight on success and failures from Humira and Remicade, I really appreciate any and all responses and insight
Avatar n tn she had her first surgery last jan. She was on remicade acouple years ago and it was working well for awhile and then it stopped working. now in the last 2 years she is loosing her hearing. she has lost 50% of her hearing so far. They dont know if it is from the crohns or all the meds she was on. Has anyone experienced hearing loss she is now being fitted for hearing aids.
Avatar f tn m self employed, and they say we overqualify for the Remicade offered for uninsurable familys. My wife (46 yrs.old) has had this for the past 6 years and has had both knees replaced and it's now working on her ankles and wrists. Without the Remicade infusions I'm afraid that this will get worse and do serious damage to her other joints. Any suggestions from anyone would be greatly appreciated.
422104 tn?1209763904 Ok, heres one for anybody out there. Has anyone tried the Enbrel, had no luck with it and gone on to either the Remicade or Humira and gotten results? It's a beautiful day here in the NE and the pup is telling me it's time to get out there! Make it a good day everyone and I will check in later today. Sue & Casey, ha ha!
Avatar f tn As far as I understand current IBD protocols, steroids are only used short term to bring about remission, but we need an immuno-suppressor drug (Remicade, Humira, Cimzia) for maintenance of remission. I do know what I am talking about and steer clear of well-meaning people who advocate stopping prescribed meds and using alternative medication. Aloe vera will not stop the immune system from over-reacting - if it did, all gastros would be prescribing it.
Avatar f tn I have been on enbrel and humira so far. I'm very needle phobic so we havent gone through IV yet....lol...I'm even worse about IV's...when the numbness started, the doctors pulled me off a lot of my meds, mostly the ones for psoriatic arthritis.
Avatar f tn I am looking for a new job but my concern is that I have to get my remicade infusions every 4 weeks also I see my GI doctor every 6 weeks and I get so frustrated when I have to go and ask for couple hours off or for remicade i have to ask for the day off it takes me all day to get my infusion because the hospital takes for ever to get the med ready plus i get sick on the day of, so i don't know how to handle this situation, I prefer not to mention anything but i need time to get my treatme.
680313 tn?1249312403 I then went into a crohns flare up and when it was all said and done within in two days my potassuim levels had dropped to the point where I was lucky not to be in the hospital. I tried Humira and was allerigic (hives), tried Remicade it did nothing. Been on so much prednisone that I get the side effectis almost instantly (moonface, sleeplessness etc) and my bones have been affected. Entocort did nothing but give me side effects.
559992 tn?1216169738 I thought I had the flu about 5 years ago.. turned out to be PMR and my joints were very painful.. could hardly walk.. it was in my feet and ankles, knees, and wrists.. anyway I took celery seed and Ibuprophen.. and it went into remission.. yeah! celery seed.. worked as well as the sterioids that others have been on.. and though I have had a flair up .. so has another person I know with it, who is still on the steriods.. so you might want to at least look into the symptoms..
