I have been treated for rheumatoid arthritis with Humira for 7 months including a combination of Humira and methotrexate for the past 2 months. I also take 5mg of prednisone, and 6 Azulfadine tablets each day. I was taking Humira once every fourteen days and I am on 15mg of methotrexate a week. About a month ago, I started experiencing numbness in my toes and feet. I mentioned it to my rheumatologist but she wasn't concerned and simply told me it wasn't rheumatoid arthritis.
I was sent to a Rheumatologist and they ran tests for lyme, HIV, RA, sed rate, etc. everything came back negative? I was basically diagnosed as having somekind of sudden onset of arthritis, probably RA, given vioxx and pregnisone and sent on my way. I finally got on enbrel in 2002 and it worked real well but about a year ago its effectiveness wore off. I forgot to leave out that not to soon after this all happened i developed atrial fibrilation and was put on beta blockers.
I just started Humira (2 shots so far) and have had a worsening of symptoms since the first shot. My hands/feet have become swollen and my joints hurt more than before I started taking the Humira. I also have systemic vasculitis (Churg-Strauss Syndrome) and am on Cytoxan and Prednisone, but I have been taking both for more than a year and know the side-effects from each.

If you already have herpes simplex, either orally or genitally, it could cause it to reactivate. Most people never get tested for herpes to know that they have it.
Hi monicaroni, I have been taking Humira almost 8 months. I take humira for Crohns Althougth reap the benefit for the AS. I am thinking that you probably had a concurrent infection brewing when you Started Humira. Good Luck managing your AS, I appreciate how difficult it can be with mobility issues, and treating pain.
Wondering if there is anyone out there with undifferentiated arthritis being treated with humira and other similar meds? Most folks on humira seem to have RA or another definitive type of inflammatory arthritis....sure hope someone will figure out whether I have seronegative RA, SLE, or another form of inflammatory arthritis some day...it's difficult to find a support group for undifferentiated arthritis, especially the moderate to severe form I have been experiencing over the past year!
Usually the side effects are well, evaluated against the benefits of a medication before prescribing it. Humira is a good medication to induce remission and symptom resolution, tough there are a few side effects associated. However all side effects may not necessarily develop in everybody. I would suggest discussing the pros and cons in detail with your treating rheumatologist.

I was diagnosed with Crohn's 9 years ago. I have been taking Asacol (5-ASA) and Imuran (Azathioprine). Last february I was hospitalized for the first time and was put on prednisone. I am still on prednisone and my body won't let me get off of it. My doctor wants me to start Humira, but I am scared. I don't like reading about the side effects and things that can happen when on that drug. Does anyone have any experience with this drug (Humira)? I would really appreciate it.
I am curious whether your doctor prescribed any other medications before prescribing Humira. Most of the folks I talk to start with other medications to control their symptoms and then, if nothing else is working, move up to Humira. Usually treatment starts with NSAIDS. If insufficient relief is experienced, DMARDS are prescribed. If there is still an insufficient improvement, then TNF inhibitors are prescribed.
Any body else taking humira? I have Ulcerative colitis and thats the meds they put me on. My condition is pretty bad because all three of my doctors told me not to come off the meds. That it could cause problems and early delivery. Any one?

m interested in hearing from anybody who has had similar symptoms, or a similar course of action before getting a diagnosis. I have never really heard of tinnitis or vertigo being symptoms of MS, and those are the main reasons I even started pursuing medical help to begin with. The doctors have ruled out some explanations (like the acoustic neuroma), but there are still other possibilities on the table (Meniere's disease, or even high blood pressure for example).
