Humira how long to work

Common Questions and Answers about Humira how long to work

humira

My rheumatologist give me a shot of steroids, which helped me get back on my feet and back to work, but said that only the steroids keep my arthritis under control at this point and he is suggesting to put me on Humira as a long term solution. Initially I agreed for him to get approval from my insurance to get the approval, but after reading a few horror stories about the side effects of Humira I told him to hold off.
Well, narcotics work wonderfully for the pain, however you can't live life being on narcotics all the time. How would you work/drive/care for your children if your head is clouded by narcotics? I was like you - I had awful pain, started Humira and within a few months felt completely better. I am still on Humira and haven't had any flare ups (fingers crossed so that I don't jinx it) for two years.
Due to take one next week again. How long does it take to start to work? My doctor was very positive in thinking that I would feel better after a week and I could stop taking some of my other meds but that is not the case.
God only gives us things that we are strong enough to handle. I've wanted to be a mom for as long as I can remember. I just pray each day that my body can see this through. I'm amazed at the women that are blessed with the ability to carry a child, and they smoke and drink and whatever else. Then, there are those that want children so badly and cannot have them.
I'll try to help. As it happens, someone close to me has psoriatic arthritis and takes Humira, so I am especially sensitive to your and your partner's situation. Unfortunately, there are no useful data on interactions between HPV and humira or related drugs. I did a quick medical literature search in response to your question.
No change in her condition as of yet, but I know it takes time. How long can we expect to wait for results to show up? Also, I forgot to ask this at her last rheumy appt, but how is Remicade any better than Enbrel or Humira? (SHe hasn't been on them, but I just wondered why he chose Remicade.) Any info you can provide would be most appreciated! My daughter is at the end of her rope.
I did not have them before Humira. My numerous doctors haven't been able to pin this on Humira directly, but I don't take many drugs and very little else had changed before I first got these headaches. It doesn't seem like Humira causes them -- Humira appears to make me more sensitive to them. And they happen in clusters. First, I would suggest getting a brain MRI just to rule out infection, swelling, tumor, etc.
Hi, I was recently diagnosed with psoriactic arthritis and the doctor put me on Arava. I've been on it for 4 weeks with no relief. In fact, the pain has increased in all of my joints and my toes have decided to join in on the fun as well. My question is has anyone had any experience with this drug in the amount of time it takes to start working? Is it usually immediate or does it take time to "build up" in your system before it begins to work?
I JUST WANT TO KNOW HOW CAN YOU GO TO WORK AND HAVE A NORMAL LIFE WHEN YOU HAVE CROHN'S DX? i have lost so many jobs due to my condition, i am constantly going to the bathroom when i am at work, feeling tired, abdominal pain, and worrying so much to ask for time off to get my ramicade treatment or just beacause i need to go for my check up with my doctor. please can someone tell me how to deal with it?
Good thing I did 'cause I've had to start on Humira injections for Rheumatoid Arthritis and that's a life long commitment LOL. The Humira needle is much longer than my PegIntron was. Mouse genotype 1a, Stage 3, Grade 3 Finished tx 4/13/07 Hoping for SVR in Sept.
I cant keep up with my kids and their activities, my body has been trying to adapt to this new body, I have had to learn how to do things differently, use a gripper to put on my shoes and pick things off the floor, use a food processor to chop food for me, have grab bars installed in my bathroom so I can get off the toilet and get out of the shower, learn to be patient when I drop things, have my hubby put milk in a small glass for me so I can have coffee in the morning because I can no longer
I’m sure that’s a simplified assessment, but a little activity goes a long way. The blood starts pumping, you start sweating, everything seems to want to work in unison and then you ask yourself why it wasn’t always so easy. And then you realize it could have been, and from now on, it will be. Working out alone has played a major role in increased, healthy elimination for me. • Being a pessimist and throwing myself a pity party.
SO I ASKED MY DOCTOR WHATS NEXT IF THIS DOESNT WORK?? AND HE SAID HUMIRA!!! THERES NOOOO WAY IM TALKING THAT STUFF! IF THE PREDNISONE DOESNT WORK I WANT THE SURGERY! BUT HE SAYS NO! SO I AM GOING TO GET A SECOND OPINION. ANY SUGGESTIONS ON HOW I CAN PUSH FOR THE SURGERY IF THE PREDNISONE FAILS??

I'm afraid you're going to have quite a bit of pain for awhile until you get used to the lower doses. How long before you can get your Humira? What is the Insurance Company telling you as to why they won't OK the Humira? Yes you should call the Doctor tomorrow!! Tell him that you don't have your Humira and with NO BT meds you are in AGONY. I don't know if it will help at all but you need to try something!! PLEASE keep us updated...
I had a neurologist tell me i was addicted to pain meds, (he did not even know how much i was taking). it irks me to no end when people do not distinguish between addiction and dependency. He said some people try to wean off, but that it usually doesn't work, and that some people go cold turkey. I was mortified that he said i was addicted, so i went home and didn't take any medication. I had one of the worst night sof my life!! By 11pm my husband told me i should probably take something.
It is prescribed off label by many doctors for your condition. Tbay how long have you been clean and sober? I'd love to hear about it. And do you belive in the 12 steps? Welcome all newcomers. Thats for you Mommy!
THEN i will have to break the cost of all of this to him as well. I'm hoping insurance will pay for IVIG and humira at least! Anyway - the road is LONG and hard but I'm hoping i can get there soon! I have been feeling like a hamster on a wheel through all this infertility stuff. Running and running and getting nowhere. I hope that this will finally give me success.
Thank you for updating my medical knowledge about the disease. Maybe I had the facts backwards, but I know my father no longer has Hepatitis C due to many months of giving himself shots, and was completely cleared by his doctor many years ago of the disease. My question was in regards to any studies or statistics that prove starting to drink again will increase the likeliness of Hep C returning...that is our fear.
We have been to specialists and have tried many things to help him. Different regiments of anti-inflammatories up to Humira. He stretches, ices and tries to exercise when he can. Nothing is helping him get better. I think we are missing something, but what? Could he be developing Ankylosing Spondylitis?
I was undetectable at the 4th week of Incivik and there was some confusion (maybe on my part) as to how long (how many weeks) I was supposed to be on Incivik. As it turned out I was on it for 12 weeks (3 months). Is that about right length of time?
a larger dosage can make a difference. How long have you been on the Humira? Can you afford Celebrex a Cox2 inhibitor, great for pain and some inflamation, instead of over the counter ibuprofen? Has your RA doc talked to you about Enbrel? Remicaid? Then there also is Rituxan a newer drug approved for RA that doesn't work on the TNF cells but your CD20 cells and has helped me TONS.
effect between all of them ...we didn't get to this combo overnight, and I don't know how long I'll be able to safely stay on all of them, BUT I do know my chronic pain & stiffness & fatigue are much lower now...and I'm looking forward to getting off the prednisone, which, as you know I'm sure, is probably the most toxic of them all...
Unfortunately, with all cases of Crohn's, everyone varies in their reaction time to medications so it's hard to say how long it might take. I know it can be frustrating. :( I never could stop my diarrhea no matter what I took and I hope someone else on here can offer you some help with that. That part was always the biggest nuisance to me. I felt like I lived in the bathroom. The weight loss is no fun either and scary as well.
As your doctor has probably been having you do, go for blood work then talk to him/her about the results. Remicade can take a while to work, but if you feel horrible, why not try something else, right?
I was diagnosed 8/07 and am now on Plaquenil and Methotrexate. It can take up to 3 months to know if these drugs help. Still trying to get the dosages and combination of drugs right and may be going to Enbrel or Humira soon.
I have been on Enbrel for 14 weeks now, my knees still hurt but after the 12th week of injections I am so much better. How long have you been on the Humira?
Do you have any suggestions for what I should talk to my doctor about when I see her? Possible treatments (Humira, Cymbalta etc.) Thank you!
