686769 tn?1236275731 My rheumatologist give me a shot of steroids, which helped me get back on my feet and back to work, but said that only the steroids keep my arthritis under control at this point and he is suggesting to put me on humira as a long term solution. Initially I agreed for him to get approval from my insurance to get the approval, but after reading a few horror stories about the side effects of humira I told him to hold off.
Avatar f tn I don't know what your doctors are saying but I wouldn't continue to take it if you are planning on keeping the child. I have been on humira, remicade, multi stem cells transplant/infusion, and tofacinitib and my doctors have told me that any pregnancy will be a risk for the child as I am consider toxic even if I have been off these medications for 20 years.
1326907 tn?1274926870 Well, narcotics work wonderfully for the pain, however you can't live life being on narcotics all the time. how would you work/drive/care for your children if your head is clouded by narcotics? I was like you - I had awful pain, started humira and within a few months felt completely better. I am still on humira and haven't had any flare ups (fingers crossed so that I don't jinx it) for two years.
468830 tn?1246112822 God only gives us things that we are strong enough to handle. I've wanted to be a mom for as long as I can remember. I just pray each day that my body can see this through. I'm amazed at the women that are blessed with the ability to carry a child, and they smoke and drink and whatever else. Then, there are those that want children so badly and cannot have them.
Avatar n tn I'll try to help. As it happens, someone close to me has psoriatic arthritis and takes humira, so I am especially sensitive to your and your partner's situation. Unfortunately, there are no useful data on interactions between HPV and humira or related drugs. I did a quick medical literature search in response to your question.
Avatar f tn No change in her condition as of yet, but I know it takes time. how long can we expect to wait for results to show up? Also, I forgot to ask this at her last rheumy appt, but how is Remicade any better than Enbrel or humira? (SHe hasn't been on them, but I just wondered why he chose Remicade.) Any info you can provide would be most appreciated! My daughter is at the end of her rope.
Avatar n tn I did not have them before humira. My numerous doctors haven't been able to pin this on humira directly, but I don't take many drugs and very little else had changed before I first got these headaches. It doesn't seem like humira causes them -- humira appears to make me more sensitive to them. And they happen in clusters. First, I would suggest getting a brain MRI just to rule out infection, swelling, tumor, etc.
Avatar f tn Hi, I was recently diagnosed with psoriactic arthritis and the doctor put me on Arava. I've been on it for 4 weeks with no relief. In fact, the pain has increased in all of my joints and my toes have decided to join in on the fun as well. My question is has anyone had any experience with this drug in the amount of time it takes to start working? Is it usually immediate or does it take time to "build up" in your system before it begins to work?
Avatar f tn I JUST WANT to KNOW how CAN YOU GO to work AND HAVE A NORMAL LIFE WHEN YOU HAVE CROHN'S DX? i have lost so many jobs due to my condition, i am constantly going to the bathroom when i am at work, feeling tired, abdominal pain, and worrying so much to ask for time off to get my ramicade treatment or just beacause i need to go for my check up with my doctor. please can someone tell me how to deal with it?
225275 tn?1276961493 Good thing I did 'cause I've had to start on humira injections for Rheumatoid Arthritis and that's a life long commitment LOL. The humira needle is much longer than my PegIntron was. Mouse genotype 1a, Stage 3, Grade 3 Finished tx 4/13/07 Hoping for SVR in Sept.
393986 tn?1303829575 I cant keep up with my kids and their activities, my body has been trying to adapt to this new body, I have had to learn how to do things differently, use a gripper to put on my shoes and pick things off the floor, use a food processor to chop food for me, have grab bars installed in my bathroom so I can get off the toilet and get out of the shower, learn to be patient when I drop things, have my hubby put milk in a small glass for me so I can have coffee in the morning because I can no longer
Avatar m tn I’m sure that’s a simplified assessment, but a little activity goes a long way. The blood starts pumping, you start sweating, everything seems to want to work in unison and then you ask yourself why it wasn’t always so easy. And then you realize it could have been, and from now on, it will be. working out alone has played a major role in increased, healthy elimination for me. • Being a pessimist and throwing myself a pity party.

469901 tn?1276567223 We are patients, not doctors, and through our combined experiences, we have much information we can share to help you as you go through the steps of getting a diagnosis, or if you're newly diagnosed, we can offer suggestions on how to cope. We are all here to support, share and laugh with each other as we find our way through all the ways arthritis affects our lives. Did you know there are over 100 different types of arthritis?
Avatar f tn My husband is not the best support and whenever I try to vent to him about how I'm feeling he just tells me "oh you'll be okay" "withdrawals don't last forever". He is an ex addict himself but his drug of choice was meth. I had hoped he would be more understanding since he has been through this kind of stuff before, but he just isn't. Sorry for rambling. I'm scared and nervous and anxiously counting my pills knowing the last day is coming.
Avatar f tn I'm afraid you're going to have quite a bit of pain for awhile until you get used to the lower doses. how long before you can get your humira? What is the Insurance Company telling you as to why they won't OK the humira? Yes you should call the Doctor tomorrow!! Tell him that you don't have your humira and with NO BT meds you are in AGONY. I don't know if it will help at all but you need to try something!! PLEASE keep us updated...
Avatar n tn I'm just starting to learn about this RA thing myself. Good luck to you and keep in touch. I'm curious to hear how you do with the Sub and RA meds.
Avatar f tn I had a neurologist tell me i was addicted to pain meds, (he did not even know how much i was taking). it irks me to no end when people do not distinguish between addiction and dependency. He said some people try to wean off, but that it usually doesn't work, and that some people go cold turkey. I was mortified that he said i was addicted, so i went home and didn't take any medication. I had one of the worst night sof my life!! By 11pm my husband told me i should probably take something.
1129232 tn?1360803958 THEN i will have to break the cost of all of this to him as well. I'm hoping insurance will pay for IVIG and humira at least! Anyway - the road is long and hard but I'm hoping i can get there soon! I have been feeling like a hamster on a wheel through all this infertility stuff. Running and running and getting nowhere. I hope that this will finally give me success.
Avatar n tn It is prescribed off label by many doctors for your condition. Tbay how long have you been clean and sober? I'd love to hear about it. And do you belive in the 12 steps? Welcome all newcomers. Thats for you Mommy!
Avatar f tn It will tell you about your liver status. It is very important to learn that if you are cirrhosis or how close or far to cirrhosis.) - AFP (it will show you that if you are cancer. Avatar n tn Thank you for updating my medical knowledge about the disease. Maybe I had the facts backwards, but I know my father no longer has Hepatitis C due to many months of giving himself shots, and was completely cleared by his doctor many years ago of the disease. My question was in regards to any studies or statistics that prove starting to drink again will increase the likeliness of Hep C returning...that is our fear.
Avatar f tn We have been to specialists and have tried many things to help him. Different regiments of anti-inflammatories up to humira. He stretches, ices and tries to exercise when he can. Nothing is helping him get better. I think we are missing something, but what? Could he be developing Ankylosing Spondylitis?
Avatar n tn I was undetectable at the 4th week of Incivik and there was some confusion (maybe on my part) as to how long (how many weeks) I was supposed to be on Incivik. As it turned out I was on it for 12 weeks (3 months). Is that about right length of time?
Avatar n tn a larger dosage can make a difference. how long have you been on the humira? Can you afford Celebrex a Cox2 inhibitor, great for pain and some inflamation, instead of over the counter ibuprofen? Has your RA doc talked to you about Enbrel? Remicaid? Then there also is Rituxan a newer drug approved for RA that doesn't work on the TNF cells but your CD20 cells and has helped me toNS.
Avatar m tn I had a high risk exposure almost 10 weeks ago. I took one 40mg dose of humira two to three weeks before exposure. 1.Will that one dose of humira affect or prolong the production of Hiv antibodies or p24 antigen. 2. I've been having symptoms since week 2 and have gotten worse since. It started with a rash on my torso. some of the rashes looked like purple streaks and some looked like pink spots. they weren't that many and they didn't stay long.
Avatar f tn effect between all of them ...we didn't get to this combo overnight, and I don't know how long I'll be able to safely stay on all of them, BUT I do know my chronic pain & stiffness & fatigue are much lower now...and I'm looking forward to getting off the prednisone, which, as you know I'm sure, is probably the most toxic of them all...
