Common Questions and Answers about Human foot nervous system

Avatar m tn Our 30-foot long gut is embedded with cells of the enteric nervous system, the ENS, a complex system of around 100 million nerves which is often referred to as our "second brain". The ENS supervises the processes of digestion and stays in close contact with, and is heavily influenced by, the central nervous system (the CNS) which comprises the brain and spinal cord. The ENS and CNS use many of the same chemical messengers or neurotransmitters including acetylcholine and serotonin.
Avatar n tn i used to do masturbation from my school days... is there any problem in nervous and diegestive system due to this. but now i am not doing the same.
Avatar n tn Hi, “A demyelinating disease is any disease of the nervous system in which the myelin sheath of neurons is damaged. This impairs the conduction of signals in the affected nerves, causing impairment in sensation, movement, cognition, or other functions depending on which nerves are involved”.
Avatar f tn My GP refered me to a neurologist who snt me for several tests including an MRI scan and a test that checks the nervous system. I the MRI results they found a cyst situated at the back left of my brain (pressing on my nervous system) but the neurologist rekons it's not connected to the problems but i feel its too much of a coincedence and am seeking a second opinion.
Avatar f tn I had an Autonomic Nervous System Test last Monday. I thought this test would be a piece of cake and no pain, no problems. Wow...what a mistake that was. Also I made the mistake of driving myself 80 miles one way to this test thinking I could drive home with no problems....another mistake. Most of the test was not painful..however, the Quantitative sudomotor axon reflex test caused terrible burning that felt like someone touching me with a cigerette butt or lighter.
Avatar f tn Yes. Certain types of chronic pain is a learned response of the spinal cord to peripheral nerve pain. The nervous system can "unlearn" chronic pain if the peripheral pain stimulus is blocked. However, each pain syndrome is unique based on many factors, like length and severity of pain, location and type of pain stimulus, and the microanatomy of one's spinal cord. I do hope your doctor's plan works and frees you from this life of chronic pain. Best wishes.
Avatar m tn At the age of 75 how long will it take to regenerate the cells of a broken bone in a foot?
Avatar f tn The nature of MS is that it attacks individual locations in the central nervous system. It does not attack the entire central nervous system. Messages that travel through the effected area(s) get corrupted. The corrupt iunformation causes symptoms. If the pathway that conveys information to your left foot is damaged you will have left foot symptoms. MS tends not to jump around.
Avatar m tn JJ nailed that answer - MS is a problem in our central nervous system and the swelling occurs because of problems in our circulatory system. The two are not directly connected. I'm curious where you might have seen this....
Avatar f tn Paresthesias may occur from abnormalities in the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord), the peripheral nervous system, or from direct compression of peripheral nerves. Paresthesias are symptoms of many different conditions including entrapment neuropathies (e.g., carpal tunnel syndrome, cubital tunnel syndrome, radial tunnel syndrome, meralgia paresthetica), spinal nerve compression (e.g.
Avatar f tn s are a way of checking for problems in peripheral nerves. MS is a disease of the central nervous system (CNS) and can cause foot drop.
Avatar f tn the EMG/NCS tests only look at the peripheral nervous system and, in terms of an MS dx, are only helpful in ruling out a peripheral nerve problem. MS is a problem of the central nervous system so if you have MS, nothing positive would show up on the EMG/NCS unless you had a peripheral nervous system problem in addition to MS.
Avatar f tn My MRI also showed I have a central nervous system lesion. Does anyone else have this or know what it is or if it is caused from the chiari.
20857594 tn?1543810386 You have given excellent information and we appreciate the journey you have taken with the health of your nervous system. Are you working with a neurologist? That is really essential in providing you with the right diagnosis and management plan as well as any questions you may have. What is their synopsis of the things you have been diagnosed with and have regarding your nervous system?
Avatar f tn Neuropathy can come from MS but from other things such as poor circulation, diabetes, thyroid, chemotherapy, and other things. It can be the periferal nervous system or the CNS. Do you have other MS symptoms? If it is perferal it probably is not MS.
Avatar m tn t work so easily, the immune system is blocked by overproduction of hbsag and the only thing that you can do is try interferon to lower it, but if it is very high there is nothing that you can do, the immune system stays deppressed by hbsag there is a new drug that clears hbsag in one weeks on 100% human patients that tried it and restore immune system response in 12-24 weeks, replicor rep9 ac, but it is still on human trial phase 2 so you have to wait because it is not available if you find h
Avatar f tn Having lyme has really effected my nervous system. Do you have any health issues or take any medications that could have effected you nervous system?
Avatar n tn and I believe that there are nerves in these crushed fleshes, and in fact, according to my experiences, I had major nervous system injuries from the crushed foot, or I also call this the 'zone of crush'.
333672 tn?1273792789 Someone posted a couple weeks ago about this device that uses electrical stimulation to combat foot drop caused by problems with the central nervous system (as in MS). It was on the Today Show (http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/26184891/vp/28872531#28872531) or you can get more info at the company's web site at http://www.bioness.com. There's a place near here that sells the device so I figured I had nothing to lose by checking it out (well, except the evaluation fee).
Avatar m tn Alcohol is a central nervous system depressant. It goes without saying that 'alcohol binges' are not going to be a good thing for one's nervous system. The effects of alcohol excess on the body are many and the first thing i'd try if i were you would be to stop drinking. I know that can be a lot to ask but the results will be well worth it. Good luck and don't be afraid to seek help.
Avatar m tn The nature of MS is that it attacks individual locations in the central nervous system, rather than systemically attacking the entire central nervous system. As such, the neuropathic pain caused by MS tends to be related to the specific nerve pathway that controls its pain center. In my case it's my left foot. Without meds it feels like it's being squeezed in a vise. It's never my left knee, shin or my right hand etc.
Avatar m tn A nerve conduction study will show whether there is damage to the peripheral nervous system. MS is a central nervous system disease, so NCS will not give info about MS. It's possible, though rare, to have both central and peripheral nervous system problems. 'Neuropathy' generally refers to peripheral neuropathy, such as that caused by diabetes. If you are a diabetic, it's very probable that that's what is causing your symptoms.
