I again bought urine strips that detect blood only, and the strips shows non-hemolyzed trace only after drinking beer or coffee. If I drink a glass of water with a tsp of baking soda, the test strips come out negative. I guess my question is "is it harmful to drink a glass of baking soda water daily?", or should I return to the doctor and go thru kidney x-rays, cystoscopy, etc again? I really hate to give up my coffe ...

But if you really did have something wrong like a gallstone or other bile blockage, then the urine test will remain constant in showing the problem on repeated tests. If you didn't have the strip stored properly, the testing chemicals on the strip will become compromised/contaminated and will give you the crazy results. Be sure your test strips are stored in a small, airtight container. And that you use a clean urine collection cup as well.

Hey ladies, The dh and I are planning on ttc in the near future (hopefuly) and I was just wondering if anyone has use the preg strips from the net and if so how well did they work?? Would you use them again?

I have been scared of ngu or some other form of infection. I have used multiply uti test strips which test white blood cell count in urine. None have been positive, one or two showed trace amount of wbc (I've taken about 18 tests). Would these show an infection (ngu) if one existed???

The test strips that I use are 10LG Parameter Urine Reagent Strips which can be bought on line at a reasonable price. These strips detect Leukocytes, Nitrite, Urobilinogen, Protein, pH, Blood, Specific Gravity, Ketone, Bilirubin, Glucose. You can get strips that detect less. The one that would be of interest if someone is suffering from dehydration is the Specific Gravity reading.

a while passed and the blood wasnt back so I asked the nurse if he would repeat the urine test, but it front of me. He did, the test he used came up with a second line, but it was much lighter then the control line, and he told me that this was a negative result. I didnt argue with him.......my bloodwork came back and my hcg was over 500....

When I first got the O strips, I had difficulty reading the urine strips O test. There were a few months that I wasn't sure if the line was dark enough - not sure if I just caught it ahead of time or just missed it. I got the CBE monitor and found that much easier to read. BBT does not work for me as my temps are very low and all over the place. When I went to the RE he monitored me and I definitely O each month.

I am taking 16mg of suboxone a day, how long will the subs last in my urine? You can buy on line Urine Reagent Strips quite cheaply. There are some that test the urine just for glucose, but they do not give an accurate recording of how much sugar there is in the blood stream. These sticks are a good indicator, but they will only detect glucose in the urine if there is above a certain level (fairly high) of glucose in the urine. An HbA1c blood test shows average blood glucose levels over a sustained period (about a 3 month period).

Yes, a urine quick test can tell you if you have WBC, but not if you have gonorrhea, chlamydia, NGU or another infection that could be causing that. You need specific tests for that. If you have concerns about those, you need to let the doctor know so they can do specific tests.

I followed up with my doctor and he prescribed me meds to take 4x a day until delivery and he took me out of work with minimal activity. Let me know how everything goes.

they were all urine test i used FRER test i hope i get a blood test at the docs monday to confirm im just so worried but i know its best to loose it this early at 6 weeks than for it to a stillbirth again i just want this so bad im really upset its going to be really hard to wait on the other test

how? the opk's I have are just strips you dip in your urine and they show 2 lines if your ovulating and 1 line if your not...will it show 2 lines if your pregnant like when your ovulation?

I frequently use urine test strips to test my urine when I feel unwell that may be waterwork problem. Have had kidney stone surgically removed in the past. Nitrite on the stick will mean that it is a bladder problem - usually Cystitis. Positive leucocyte reading on the stick with or without signs of protein, usually means that there is a bacterial infection. If the doctor said you have a uti (urinary tract infection) this is anywhere from the kidneys down.

I check my urine at home with Chem Strips to check for protein. About a month ago I noticed nitrates were testing positive on the strips (Only +first morning urine), I had no symptoms of a UTI and I did nothing. They did not send the urine to a lab. I do not have an infection as the urine strips test for leukocytes (which are fighting infection cells)..

You do not need to test with early morning urine. I usually test btwn 12 and 2pm, and my RE office says that is the best time. You can in fact test anytime, but I think 2ish is good.

Im in the UK and it seems the first step is the urine test according to my NHS walk in centre but you can ask for the blood test straight away if your really worried....but I think that depends on any symptoms. Ive heard different opinions on the urine test though, I have been told that its no good by one or two people but then afew others have said its fine for an intial check. Where you take you temperature every morning when you wake up before you get out of bed. The temp will rise when you are ovulating. There is the OPK a urine test strip can be taken anytime during the day to detect when you are ovulating. And then there is checking your mucous. The color change and texture will tell you as well. I personally like the OPK but it’s the most expensive because having the purchase the strips. I hope this helps. Good luck with everything.

I'm 25 weeks pregnant. At around 19 weeks, after having urethral pain for 2 weeks, I went to the ER as i was certain I did have a UTI, even though my doctor dismissed my symptoms and told me the leukocytes and bacteria found were from contamination. I was in considerably more pain that same night so headed to the ER where they confirmed I had a UTI and put me on cephalexin. I took it for 4 days until I started having diarrhea.

You can always buy test strips at target or pharmacy. PH strips you can test the discharge and it will tell you if its just urine or amniotic fluid.

Now what is with these test strips showing blood in my urine every time I get checked at the clinic ? Should I be concerned ?

It could be urine or it could be fluid. Go to walmart and pick up some ph test strips from the fishie section! U should be able to test it that way! Urine is acidic whereas amniotic fluid is not!
