645800 tn?1466860955 In the interim you need to have something like Medic Alert who could not only notify the paramedics, but could possibly notify someone around you who could come to your aid. You should teach everyone in your family how to use the EpiPen and all your close (in proximity and other) friends. There are also personal alarms that will sound shrilly if activated. That could alert family and neighbors.
Avatar n tn m also allergic to several medications (antibiotics) and my doctor said I might need an epipen when I take them to keep me alive until I get to a hospital. Just about all antibiotics close my throat. But I thought epipens contained epiphenephrine, and was told by a friend that it's bad for those with a heart arrhythmia. Has anyone here with PVCs had to use an epipen for an anaphlactic shock reaction, and if so, was it safe for the heart? Thanks.
Avatar n tn It all depends on the patient as well because she may not have the same kind of reaction with the second medication that she had with the first. I am not a doctor but it is important to remember that when a doctor prescribes a medication they are only doing so because they believe the benefits outweigh the risks. I am assuming her doctor knows about the previous allergy and I would say if she takes the medication just watch her very closely for an adverse effects. Best of luck!
1639028 tn?1300617084 hi, yes i already have an epipen to use when i suffer from an attack, throughout the past 2 years ever since i started getting the attacks i have suffered from about 12-14 anaphylactic attacks and going thrugh every possible test there is to find out whats causing it and still the doctors and immunologists still can't find a cause.
Avatar f tn I would check to see if the medication also had an NSAID in it (aspirin (salicylate), ibuprophen, naproxen...) Many digestive products contain small amounts of them Maalox adn Peptobizmol (sp? - I don't use the product). NSAIDs can be a bad trigger for some asthmatics and the reaction can take hours to develop. If you suspect this, he really needs to talk about it with his doctor. It can be treated very effectively greatly reducing medicaion use and increasing quality of life.
Avatar n tn Unrefined all natural sea-salt 1 teaspoon with a glass of room temperature water x2, should help, until the sufferer gets to a doctor or clinic. Sometimes this remedy takes care of it, without having to see the doctor. Better yet, why not eliminate the Allergy. Visit a Holistic Allergy Elimination Therapist for that. "Allergy Antidotes" (the method I use here in Canada) is very efficient and usually permanent results within a few treatments. N.A.E.T. ( Dr.
Avatar n tn Hello doctor. I am female and had a short relationship with a man for two months. I had a single GUM clinic antibody test at 3 months - negative. All other STD’s negative. Exposure was unprotected oral performed on him (3 times during the month) and one episode of vaginal sex (condom failed). I was happy with the result but the only thing which is bothering me is the use of Trimovate corticosteriod cream and would this affect my result?
Avatar f tn In addition to rinsing when using an inhaled steroid, ideally you should gargle immediately several times and not swallow.
Avatar n tn You could do the same and give instructions to co-workers on how to use your epipen if you carry one.
4451049 tn?1387153437 How am I suppose to differentiate a welcomed herx from a serious drug reaction, PMS or just a typical flare? I just traded Zithromax for Doxy as I was having some pretty serious issues on Zithromax. If it hadn't been for the serious FDA warnings and many similar reviews, I may have continued the medication but I'm not really sure as it got pretty rough. (I always take my abx at different times so if I do have some sort of reaction, I have a good idea which medication is the culprit.
Avatar f tn But I was wondering if anyone did have an experience like this and had to use an epipen. Or if you have any information on urticaria pigmentosa? ( I know alot about it but I always would like to know more. Please share any information you may have or experiences you incountered.
Avatar n tn I begin to suspect an allergy to cinnamon. But a friend who is a nurse practitioner mentioned the possibility of an auto-immune disorder. I don't know anything about that or how to figure out if I am allergic to something or what it is. The doctors I have seen have only recommended different antihistamines and no one has ordered any tests. I want to figure out what tests and just go have have them done (I can do that here in Mexico). Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
Avatar n tn And i have never used any medicine vaginally. So i am totally clueless. How do i use it?? I read online but it says u supposed to push it with an applicator and my medicine doesnt have an applicator. Has anyone ever used vaginal tablets? Avatar n tn Back in August I was visiting South America Chile. while at lunch I helped myself with a small portion of ceviche (fresh fish salad). then I went back for some shrimp, and immediately I had the worst allergic reaction. I could not breath and ended up in the hospital which was fearly close. Dr. gave me an IV of Cortizon, and I was fine in no time. I had to take medication for one week he said not to eat chocolat, citrics, like oranges ,grape fruit, lemon, eggs.
Avatar m tn I would suggest you obtain a referral to an allergist or an ENT who does allergy testing. That is the only way to reliably know what is causing your allergic reaction. Some allergies can be life-threatening as they can precipitate anaphylactic shock in which the swelling can be so severe that it impairs the ability to breathe. Therefore, I would suggest you see someone as soon as possible. Also, keep an epi pen with you in case of an emergency. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn First of all when your MD returns you want to look into getting an epipen for your wife. Even if the reaction was as mild as hives the next time she could go into full antiphlactic shock. You have to be quite tender with allergies and your wife's advanced age could pose a complication. It sounds as though the flu shot and the medications that she is on may have had an adverse affect combined. You should speak with your pharmacist since your MD isn;t available.
Avatar n tn m still highly reactive. How long do we stay reactive? How long does the steriod last in our system to fight this off? Will I feel like this forever? Should I have been released from the hospital so soon? Could I have a severe allergy to more than just shellfish? AHHH, sorry, just scared to even leave the house. Thanks for insight on this. This is my first run with this problem and still confused on everything that has happened.
Avatar f tn My dr. has prescribed a epipen to use in case of emergency, since I had a bad reaction to something which we haven't pinpointed as of yet about 10 days ago. I am beside myself trying to figure out what I am allergic to and why I'm suffering from so many different reactions to my system. I want to know if this garlic smell could also be a reaction to food, I have not ingested garlic at all in the last few weeks.
4838161 tn?1369531346 I had my first last July and went completely all natural. I wouldn't of had it any other way. Stay focused have good support and you can do it. Honestly I was in more pain the next day due to tearing and waiting to long to take any medication. Lol. But I'm due with my second in October plan on all natural again.
Avatar f tn Hi. I'm sorry, I tried to clarify (poorly!) but the red spot does not itch and there is no negative sensation other than the warmth. I wouldn't notice it at all except it makes me feel very warm and is warm to the touch. And I didn't mention any migraine issues so I'm a little confused. No, I am not currently taking daily medication though I do take Zyrtec as needed for seasonal allergies.
