4451049 tn?1387153437 Anyone extremely sensitive to pharmaceuticals, like to the point that there is nothing else left to try? It's not always easy to tell a herx from a side effect, but EKG confirmed that I have an issue with medications that lengthen the QT interval. This includes a LOT of medications. Anyone else have this issue? Anyone have their hair fall out by the handfuls with the Planquenil? Not sure what is wrong with me. I've had CYP enzyme testing, no issues there.
Avatar f tn HRT is always a possibility and would be easier to manage than guessing with natural supplements, unless you want to be blood-testing all the time to see how they do for you. If you insist on the all-natural route, you could try wild yam cream for estrogen, but I am not familiar enough with the topic to tell you what women do to replace progesterone.
Avatar m tn t feel any difference, he prescribed me liver cleanse for body heat, is there anything else I can take for the body heat and how long should I give the herbs to work??? Avatar f tn I am working with a holistic doctor now and will be attempting to treat the mild hyperthyroidism with herbs and diet changes. I am giving myself two months. If there is no change in my condition at that point, I will give in to the RAI. My questions are: 1)is th swelling and pain in my fingers, hands and wrists from hyperthyroidism or the methimazole? 2)Do any Endocrinologists believe in possibly using a combination of a lower dose of meds with herbs?
Avatar f tn Oh dear, you sound so much like I've often felt at times. This Lyme maze that we go through is hell off and on - trying to get diagnosed, treated, people to believe us, the right food to eat, how to cope with the pain, etc - I feel like it's a curse. I hope you feel well soon and find something that can ease your discomfort and issues.
798555 tn?1292787551 Can't imagine why anyone would recommend 5-HTP for adrenals. It's a metabolite of tryptophan, which helps manufacture serotonin. Nothing to do with adrenals directly, though it might be helpful for anxiety or depression sufferers. Valerian is a relaxant, affecting GABA, again not for adrenal support unless sleep deprivation is causing it. Using one herb to accomplish something isn't the best way to do this. Herbalists work with formulas.
1388193 tn?1279734375 ve been diagnosed with exophoria since Jan,2010 and my optometrist has added prism to my prescripted glasses (3 prism in each lense) to help me cope with double vision. I haven't felt a great improvement on my eye sight at all, and the appearance of my eyes look increasingly dispared and bulging out. What ways are there to treat this, therapy, surgery? Please let me know. Thank You.
Avatar n tn I was having thyroid problems earlier this year and am now on monthly blood tests to ensure levels stay within normal range. I was told if your thyroid levels are off then it can either cause you to not ovulate or can raise the risk of miscarriage if you conceive. I would definitely seek a doctor's opinion if your having difficulties. Also, check out this link, it might explain fsh levels http://draimee.
687079 tn?1230948612 i have adrenal insufficiency and hypothyroidism - i just started thyroid replacement and my adrenal symptoms are out of control i feel like im dying - my doctor will not treat the adrenal problem even though i read she is supposed to before the thyroid- i dont know what to do i tried cutting the thyroid spill in half today so the shock to my system wouldnt be so bad - didnt help!
Avatar n tn Be careful on this one. Just based on where I live and what I've been told... Due to licensing, a homeopathic doctor's medical practice is limited in what testing, diagnosis and treatment they can provide. Perhaps it's like this where you live and you'd want to check that out before going to one.
Avatar f tn s disease. Alas, it cannot be treated with herbs. You have to locate the source of the cortisol - be it taking steroids, a tumor on the pituitary, adrenals or elsewhere, and remove it. Cushing's can cause inflammation - and that can raise ANA or you can have another issue as one auto-immune disease does usually mean you are prone to others and you have Hashimoto's as well. You need to see an endo - like a pituitary endo.
Avatar m tn To stimulate the thyroid you can do kapalbhati pranayam , thyroid point, Ujjayi pranayam up to 21 times and thyroid exercies. All these are described below.Your adrenal gland will be activated with the kapalbhati. Note down your symptoms, and when you notice some improvement let me know. You will get to know your body and will be able to review the medication. When the thyroid point does not cause pain, your health will have improved a lot.
963249 tn?1247190497 Since he has Type 1 diabetes - I think it would make good prevention to treat the thyroid at the beginning (heart disease etc?). Obviously it is not autoimmune in nature - absense of TPO antibodies. But a healthy thyroid should be arund 1.5 should not it? Please advise. I am not happy about the drs. visit outcome. Many thanks for your suggestions.
Avatar n tn It is not uncommon for thyroid to become inflammed after delivery , especially if delivery was accompanied with blood loss.
Avatar f tn I am glad I had a chance to treat and was lucky to avoid the sx. I wonder how many of us are as lucky.
1093823 tn?1257341779 I keep getting different responses from physicians and my own research to the question, to treat or not to treat...I've experienced a sudden onset of fatigue with symptoms of anxiety and depression and my TPO antibodies resulted at 54, but my FT4 and TSH are "within normal limits", depending on which limits are considered 'normal'...that is also been debatable. If I'm symptomatic with TPO antibodies and other lab work has been normal, should this been treated with HRT?
Avatar n tn I am a (otherwise) healthy 27-year old female. About 2 years ago I was tested for hypothyroidism due to irregular menstrual cycle, fatigue, a little depression, weight gain (from 140 to 172lbs in 2 years - height 5'8 ). My Primary doctor at the time, saw my TSH level at 6.70 and did not think much of it. She said, no further tests were needed because I did not have a goiter. Although my menstrual cycle continued to be irregular, I thought it would 'self-regulate'. Silly me!
798555 tn?1292787551 When discussing hypothyroidism and adrenal problems, a doctor who specialized in adrenal fatigue told me it was important to place the emphasis on normalizing the adrenals, not the thyroid. I don't exactly remember why, but it had something to do with the adrenals affecting the thyroid, not the other way around.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know if it is okay to take homeopathic OTC drugs while taking Armour? I am not talking about homeopathic to aide in Thyroid function, but for other reasons, like anxiety, cough, headache or whatever the problem may be at the the time. I just bought some "nerve tonic" for my PMS. Are there any herbs or homeopathic remedies I need to stay away from while on Armour Thyroid?
Avatar f tn My new ND whom I found on a seemingly patient driven website (Top Thyroid drs.) is willing to treat as you suggest, not just offer antidepressants and talk therapy, not suggest I go see a nutritionist when I ask about gluten, not just change doses based on TSH. The ND knows I am more than a TSH number. My labs at the time of rx change and switching to a ND were: TSH -.36 (.3 to 4.0 range) T4 free: 1.93 (.93 to 1.70 range) T3 free: 2.6 (2.5 to 4.
Avatar m tn I do have a physician who is wonderful but not familiar with how to help hypothyroidism through nutrition and supplements. I am very over weight, very puffy looking, my hair is dry and bendy/wavy and totally out of control, I am exhausted even when I wake up, easily angered, easily depressed, no motiviation. I also have avascular necrosis and have issues with knees and hips. I have had left hip replaced. I a MESS !! I need real advise and real direction on how to get this under control.
Avatar m tn So, here's my (complicated) question... They just found out I have Hashimoto's, which is not too surprising because my mom has hypothyroid. However, I am in the intermittent hyperthyroid stage, before my thyroid dies and I turn hypothyroid. My doctor just wants to wait until I "level out" before treating with synthroid or the like and asked me to come back in a few months to get bloodwork repeated.
1004162 tn?1303133724 But the book tells you how endo is thought to be a auto immune diesase like lupus inly not life threatening but if you have endo you know that it still robs you of your life. Any how the point to to keep a strong immune system! I have done that and seen a diffence I quit taking the vitamins and herbs though because I thought I was prego and now symptoms are back. So try it for yourself!
Avatar f tn The herbs I mentioned are anti thyroid herbs. For instance, Bugleweed has been shown to block TSH production, decrease peripheral T4 deiodinization, inhibit stimulating antibodies from binding to thyroid cells in people with Graves' disease, and may inhibit iodine metabolism.
